- Sérgio Dutra Santos, known as Serginho or Escadinha (born October 15, 1975 in Diamante do Norte) is a Brazilian professional volleyball player who plays in the Libero position. In 2009 he became the first Libero to be named MVP in the World League .
i really love how he just gives the ball to his setter every time.
He was a monster. He was everywhere and his pass was sensacional. Sergio on mens and Fabi on womens the 2 best liberos ever to walk the Earth.
He's still a monster and will play the Olympics this year again with 41 years defending Brazil as always did.

Ye he won the thing and got MVP as well, just because he can lol. He had retired from the national team when I wrote that post tough, he came back after Bernadinho asked him to and I guess that was a wise decision.
And he was also MVP of the tournament.

I never noticed this till now but after all of his digs/passes, he drops to the floor. I guess for greater absorption and control.

It's a last resource to try to compensate the incoming ball speed. Every good player does that intuitively when he "realizes" the ball is too fast.

I noticed he lets himself fall back on some receptions. Is that a technique to slow down the ball or its just the server is too strong?
Zicologo the serve is too fast..The let himself fall back so he just dig the ball just right not too hard and not too weak

"it isnt though" are you kidding me dude? Thats a fantastic play from an aware libero. You can be cool and act like a god of volleyball and say it wasnt a good play but everyone knows it was. Yeah he pointed at him and told him to run the bic, but it wasnt planned. Its improvised.
