As an inhabitant of the Netherlands i am stunned by the quality of the houses in the USA! Here in Holland practically every house is made of concrete and bricks. Because of that waterdamage is less of a problem……
Such a different perspective from other youtube channels! I love that you guys are detailed and are explaining each step of the way. WIll be following this series
Nope! Building a new home is not always within budget for everyone, but properly (keyword: properly) renovating an existing one can give you want right on your budget, or maybe even come in under budget. Thanks for watching! Have a great day!
This is why those Dallas neighborhoods are still disgusting and run down like this...the people living there have no pride in their property or are just too poor or old to keep their houses maintained so the entire neighborhood gets run down and nobody wants to move there. Everyone says Dallas is beautiful, but this is the majority of what you see around Dallas outside of the multi-million dollar neighborhoods and it's really sad.
Thanks for watching Joy! We couldn't agree with you anymore. At the time we film this the lot really wasn't worth much more than the house itself and even if you rebuilt you wouldn't recoup that. We're sure that with the market the way it is now it's definitely worth it to purchase and build new.
Next time check with the buyers lender to find out what kind of financing terms they have. An FHA lender would require the seller to do most of the wood rot and fungus repair. Then check with the bank offering the repo. If the original loan was an FHA they may be fine covering the repairs. What year was the build? Asbestos was used heavily pre 1970. So asbestos is not an issue in popcorn ceilings in later years. The the price of non-asbestos popcorn ceiling removal is cheap.
@@TheBrothersWorkshop AKA Pennsyl-rainia. Anything that's sitting exposed to the elements with water entry through the roof is going to become garbage in short order.
That house needs a laundry to room to house hvac, hot water heater and laundry. I don't see where you would have the space to move in that kitchen with all of that there.
I never understand how a piece of crap wood house like this can be sooexpensive...i can buy a nice 3 bedroom brick house with pool in Johanesburg South Africa with that amount of money.
Have you renovated anything before on your channel?? I have just seen horrible house tours so far. Fixer uppers are always a gamble; it takes good planning and a good budget to make them sing. What is your friend's all in budget???
Jiexi Ai, Thanks for watching! To address your comment, yes we have! Just take a look at all of our videos and you'll see we have a variety of content related to architecture and construction. We don't shoot and edit one video of an entire renovation. That would be silly, we aren't HGTV, and renovating a home takes months of hard work. We also find it very important to show the process and highlight how things are done in architecture and construction! Have a great day!
For the right price, no more than $45k, this is worth a radical full gut Reno because the property is a nice size and people want mid-century homes now. Across from the school is good for a young family. Be careful around rodent poop, it can carry the deadly Hantavirus
Hi, Just wondering how someone could have lived there? Wouldn't they be very sick? Wow! I expected run down but that was bad. Shouldn't theses homes be bull dozed? Start from scratch
That house isn’t worth 90k The windows would have to be replaced The exterior doors/door jams would have to be replaced The siding would have to be replaced The kitchen would have to be gutted Most of the plaster/drywall would have to be replaced The bathrooms would have to be gutted and remodeled Not to mention the underlying water damage
Hey Game App Reviewer! Thanks for leaving a comment. The house was selling for 90k. Even at that price point it was way to much. We pointed out all of the work that would need done, and why we decided to pass on the house. Thanks for watching!
So this is interesting content, but it is really hard to watch. The camera is really shaky and keeps going in and out of focus. I really wish I could watch this, but it was making me dizzy and nauseous. I imagine if you guys figured out a better camera situation, you would have a lot more views.
Thanks for watching Brenda! We hope you enjoyed the video! Here on The Brothers Workshop we make our videos how we see fit. We like to tell a story with our videos, and take you along on the journey. Your comment indicates that you've clearly missed the intent of the video. It's okay though! Now you know, and can enjoy our videos as they were intended from now on! We hope you have a great day! 🙂
So y’all just keep saying you gonna buy a fixer upper but never actually gonna buy one and just getting paid to potentially catch a disease lmao STONKS
Thanks for watching Owen! Just in case you weren't paying attention at the beginning of the video Dave states that this is a series of videos that will detail the search, selection, and renovation of a home. We only have two videos relased of thst process so far. If you've seen the first two videos, they feature homes we've looked at while searching. The following videos will detail the renovation. If you aren't subscribed and want to see content like that we suggest you do. New videos will be coming out soon (it takes time to edit these videos.) We hope you did enjoy the videos! Abenzuoo, thanks for watching, and we hope you enjoyed the video. Buying a house, especially a fixer upper, isn't an easy process. It can be drawn out, and you'll find more houses out there that don't make sense for you to buy and repair (investment wise), than you'll find that do make sense. A large part of the process of fixing up a house is finding the right one. This video (part #2) and part #1 are the first two videos in a episodic series of how we helped a friend renovate a house. We feel it is very important to show what we looked at before showing the house we ultimately renovated. It's also important to point out what we found wrong with the houses we looked at, what repairs would be needed, and why we chose to pass on those. That builds on a greater whole of the build, and solidifies why we as a team chose the house we did to work renovate. What you'd see on HGTV is not reality. You don't find your house after looking at the first one, and you sure don't fix it up in 30 minutes. You obviously just found our channel, as did most of our subscribers, so I invite you to subscribe and come along for the journey. Videos of the purchase and renovation will be coming out in the next two weeks or so, as they are edited. By the looks of your channel, you're a fellow builder. Good luck with you house build, and have a great day! For a sneak peak at the renovation take a look at this video of ours: ruclips.net/video/sAFWiKycENQ/видео.html

Not everything is done in 30 minutes like on HGTV. Have a great day, and thanks again for watching! Ok
Ok
It would be so cool you and your brother renovating the old mansion for $27k
Yes please!!!
Yeah I really want them to too!
YES
I was really hoping to see that too but they are still so far away from 100K likes :-(
What's up cuz....!
This house is what we call a "tear-down" and a complete rebuild from the ground up.
We couldn't agree more!
As an inhabitant of the Netherlands i am stunned by the quality of the houses in the USA! Here in Holland practically every house is made of concrete and bricks. Because of that waterdamage is less of a problem……
That's being held up by termites holding hands!
It sure was!
“ let me grab my jacket." I felt like I was watching Mr. Rogers for a second!
When the market is good, sellers want post-renovation prices for pre-renovation houses.
To much
U need to have 100.000 to fix
One upgrade would be a tripod or a stabilizing unit so there isn't as much shake. Loving the videos :)
Working on it!
What a HEAP! Maybe for $30k, but there’s no way I’d spend $190k on that.
Such a different perspective from other youtube channels! I love that you guys are detailed and are explaining each step of the way. WIll be following this series
Glad you enjoyed it!
50-70k would have made more sense!
This house had so many issues! Interesting video. Good luck with your search:) 👍
Thank you! Stay tuned for the next video. We've lined up our project house, and have started work already!
Agreed, if the price was 50 or 60, possibly it could work. Good luck on the next one! TFS
Love this!! Hope to see more!!!
You can see the outlines of where they had there pictures in that first bedroom, whoever’s lived there must’ve smoked like a chimney.
Do you ever just feel, it would be better to tear down, and recycle some of the materials? And then just build a whole new home?

I hope I can get a visa to go to the United States after the seal is lifted
$190??? No way! Maybe $75 its in too bad of shape! It better be in the most expensive part of town with an excellent school district!
