The irony of this is that Gloria Swanson probably could play Salome in 1950. Why? Because in the movie the make-up department had to ADD lines to her face to make her look 50! She was a vegetarian which probably contributed to her youthful and beautiful looks. Also, I like how Gloria Swanson doesn't mimic her lines in the movie. She changes her inflection to suit radio. That's talent!
