I came here to say something about my recovery from GERD and LPR..I have been suffering for 6 years , couldn't sleep for nights and always felt uneasy in the stomach, hardly ate anything..The culprit is refined sugar...Throw it out of your pantry and see the difference..Donot eat anything with added sugar for 15 days ..and see difference.I have totally recovered...Hope this helps someone who is suffering.

I've been struggling with LPR for a year and i've finally found relief...This is what you should do (in addition to cutting out the foods he mentioned: for me it was caffeine and dairy)....Use a sterilized spray bottle or neti pot, add alkaline water and sodium bicarbonate...I use the neti pot and add just a tiny pinch of sodium bicarbonate, and I get instant relief in my nose and throat. I will also gargle with this several times a day.

I’ve been going through this on and off since 2022.
I dropped Diet Pepsi and sprayed my nose and throat with ph water and baking soda. That worked.
Last week, after 5 months, it’s back. I took out dairy. Now all I eat is meat.
No smoking, drugs, alcohol, just meat and water. I’m now up typing this with only 1 hour of sleep.
I don’t know what else to do. Stop eating entirely?

@@KARIS1961 hows it going now? silent reflux is usually caused by too low stomach acid levels (like any reflux). for instant relief you could try the baking soda spray but you eventually need to get your stomach acid levels back to normal. (To get an indication if your stomach acid is too low try the baking soda burp test) and if it is too low try supplementing with betaine hcl + pepsin during meals and drink 1 glass of diluted ACV with water every day.

I've had both GERD and LPR symptoms for the last 8 years. I developed them in my early 40s, brought on by the stress of a new job I had taken on. I suffered many years with the PPI my GI doc prescribing not working that well. I only later found out its because LPR's villain is pepsin, which can thrive in either acidic or basic environments. Only when I discovered alginate therapy did I get relief of my LPR symptoms. I've tried many of the alginates over the years and the best one for me has been a newer one called Nutritist Refluxter. If I take these capsules after every meal and before bedtime I can keep both my GERD and LPR under control because alginate forms a physical barrier at the LES that can block both acid and gaseous pepsin.

don't eat oily spicy outside food don't eat chips popcorn etc
Gargle with salt water 3 times a day atleast
Don't eat citric fruits like orange lemon grapes
Don't eat tomatto and never eat raw onion
Don't eat masala product like maggy pasta etc
Elevate your head side 6 inches atlease so create a slop so acid don't come up
Observe if diary milk curd lassi creates problem or not if do than leave them also
Never sleep or lay down after meal always lay down after 2-3 ours of sleep
Take dinner early and don't sleep before 2-3 hours after that
Take small meals 4-5 times a day don't take large meals only eat 60% of your capacity
    Eat soft spiceless fruits
Take 1/3 little baking soda and drink when you feel irritation and drink every 3 days if possible only little soda not more
It will kill acid in your throat
I am suffering from LPR from one year so I have tried and observe every thing
    Also consult ent doctor
Take 20 minute walk after dinner
Don't do hard exercise gym or weight lifting it will create more acid reflux
Don't clear your throat distract your self in some work
Drink small sips of water when throat stuck feel because clearing throat will irritate it further if you don't clear throat and sip water than your throat will heal in 1-2 day
Also don't drink too much water at a single time it will create more acid reflux
Remember this tips will greatly help but going to ent doctor is also required
Because many illness have same symptoms and all parts are deeply connected so you may never know your disease without doctor

@@ZayedAbdillahAzizsame here i have been clinically diagnosed with health anxiety disorder 3 months ago and I really don’t know the cause of it. I observed myself on a daily basis and my symptoms are palpitations, dizziness and shortness of breath. I realized these symptoms are triggered if I have mucus build up because I kinda hear that I am wheezing or like a whistle tone thats coming out of my mouth. Also, sore throat and something that’s stuck on my throat and cough. If I am starting to have these my health anxiety kicks in and I am already fed up.
So I started a less but frequent meal a week ago. So far, no flare ups at night and I can peacefully sleep. I think I would have to follow this routine and see if this symptoms would go away. Best of luck!

Hello! For me, I coughed and wheezed over a 4 - 6 hour period at a time. Sorry to go long, however, it's never ONE thing, is it? Two things confirmed for me were Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and low-potency stomach acid. SIBO would produce gases that would build up from my intestines and carry pepsin from my stomach to my breathing pathways because my stomach acid wasn't strong enough to trigger my Lower Esophageal Sphincter to close. The result is asthma like wheezing and coughing. I acidified my stomach with Zypan, while undergoing an elimination diet. It turns out that I was eating foods that neutralized my stomach acid!! Bread, grains, high fructose corn syrup to name a few. In fact, acidic preservatives in bottled tea and seltzer drinks like Bubli would activate pepsin wherever is was located in my soft tissues (sinuses and esophagus). All of these foods caused indigestion for me. When I eliminated these foods with low carb, sugar/sweetener-free and whole food diet, something changed. Although I still have to induce burping to relieve build up periodically (especially before bed), for having eaten only one meal per day, I don't cough nearly as much anymore!! Runny nose is a symptom for me still because it will likely take time to recover from SIBO. Otherwise, I feel no burning or other acid reflux symptoms. Just the cough, asthma and bloating.

Omg! You described my symptoms so well and I thought I was crazy! I wheeze too and cough a lot ..sometimes it's painful and Ive been tested for allergies,, asthma, pneumonia when it first started and nothing came up so I've been living with this for years trying to figure it out in my own because I haven't heard anyone having issues like mine. It's worse on my exhale or if I inhale too quickly. I thought it was good related because the symptoms fluctuate between mild to severe and maybe thought stevia...cut that out and helped a bit but not that much. If I have a bad spell for some reason hit peppermint tea works. But I'd really like to fix it completely. I guess I'll have to change my diet now! I'm not happy someone else suffers with this cough and wheezing (as my chest hurts at times) but I feel better knowing I'm not the only one and have a starting point. Thanks for sharing!

@@lisak5804 **UPDATE** Hello again! Thanks for your kind words! These symptoms are a bit of a struggle, aren't they? I have new information! Cold dry air and cold beverages can cause my events also. Reactive Airway Disease came up in discussion with my Doc. Therefore, I had to make a few modifications to my routine:
-Gut bacteria balance means no processed foods or excessive carbs and I now eat only in a four-hour period between 11:00 and 15:00. This gives my system time to digest and recover. I've acidified my stomach with zypan and I use bile salts to aid flow.
-NO COLD LIQUIDS! They may aggravate the vagus nerve, which triggers phrenic and other spinal motor nerves related to a cough your body may think is a foreign body or obstruction of the wind pipe. The reaction is inflammation which leads me to believe it's an allergic reaction by food or a physical reaction by aggravating the vagus nerve. Science went over my head but I did a cold-water test with immediate regret. Guess what helped me? Coconut milk! I whip it up and serve it slightly warm with a small amount of stevia. I like your tea idea, but water seems to slosh around more, which leads me to my final discovery.
-"mild" sliding hernia. I, now, have to perform breathing exercises and avoid flopping down when sitting because my lower esophageal sphincter can crown a little bit and remain open from activities like over-eating, too much to drink (water while eating) and prolonged sitting.
I've been doing better, but this is a long fight.
Hang in there and be well!

Pausing 30 seconds into the video to post this comment: I'm grateful that Dr. Pasha took time out of his day to make the video. I'm not sure if I have LPR or GERD, even though I have ALL of the symptoms of LPR. I've had a nagging cough for years, made much much worse after a major exposure to mold for over a year in my home. I moved out over a year ago and the cough still persists, off and on. I don't think LPR or GERD is causing my cough but I'm starting a 14-day antacid regiment today to see if there is any change. I am also quitting coffee, at least for the short term, and following the dietary suggestions given here; I also read these on-line, with the exception of CHOCOLATE. Yikes...I've been eating a LOT of chocolate lately!

Mold? Hmmm, I had a similar timeline with living in a moldy house and developing LPR. A year later and I still have it, but not as bad. I've also been trying everything I can find on the internet. There are big claims about the carnivore diet curing acid reflux, but very little info on LPR specifically. I heard a few people say it took longer to resolve LPR....8 weeks seems to be the magic number. This video is missing a major item that seems unanimous in the "enlightened" health circles: that most gerd cases are due to LOW stomach acid rather than high. This is why Apple cider vinegar helps relieve heartburn for many. ...too much more to say on this topic.

I’m guessing it’s because it’s pretty processed and the noodles are smooth consistency and not a grainy texture like a lot of other noodles including other gluten free brown rice noodles. Thinking about trying an elimination diet and try eating high raw then eating cooked plant based meals in the evening. Thought about trying carnivore but then only thing that I felt I was doing alright with was just steak and salt. Everything else gave me a histamine reaction. "Pain" comes and goes, and the throat adapts with time. It's not that bad for me, at least. I felt "pain" for about 2, maybe 3 weeks at the beginning of my symptoms, and then I have been feeling "discomfort" for the last 7 months. There are days when I don't feel a thing and others when it comes back. In general, it's not "painful" after some time but "uncomfortable" since your throat is irritated 24/7. As I speak, it's very bizarre because I have a cold or something like that, so it gets even worse.

How long does it take for LPR symptoms to heal if I’ve changed my diet and reduced my symptoms with inhibitors?

My daughter was just diagnosed and the doctor told us 3-6 months.

@@shelleycurtis7588 I see. My symptoms started in early November, and I'm happy to say that I stopped having symptoms on the first week of December apart from dry mouth and gum redness. I've been continuing the diet though to make sure I heal properly before eating anything with high fat. Here are a few things I learned that might help:
      - Make sure your daughter is sitting up straight - especially after meals - and sleeps with a raised head and chest.
      - Keep her hydrated, and try giving her xylitol lozenges or xylitol gum (Avoid mint or aspartame). Xylitol mouthwashes with bubblegum flavor and aloe ingredients are especially helpful.
      - If your doctor has her on PPIs or H2 blockers, make sure she's eating plenty of magnesium (bananas, almonds, oatmeal, steamed veggies), B12 (lean fish, baked chicken, egg whites, avocado), and probiotics (zero fat yogurt, skim milk, and a PILL SUPPLEMENT) otherwise her recovery will take longer.
      - Fennel tea is good for settling the stomach. Add 1 teaspoon of raw honey to help reduce throat inflammation.
      - If her meds give her kidney pain (tightness on the lower back flank) or difficulty in the restroom, have her drink natural pedialyte or a homemade electrolyte mix of 4 cups water, 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, 2-3 teaspoons of honey. This saved me multiple times.
      - If her throat is sore, or her mouth is being burned by stomach acid, ***ALKALINE WATER*** has saved me more times than I can count. Have her gargle and SIP the alkaline water a few times a day or whenever she feels that burning/lump sensation (don't drink too much too quickly as it can cause indigestion). I find having some in a cup next to my bed is a good practice.
      - You can also have her rinse and swallow a cup of the alkaline water mixed with 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda for more effective relief, but do this no more than twice a day since the baking soda can dry out her mouth and interfere with medication.
That's pretty much everything I can think of. I hope it helps!
