Great reasons, I can relate! I also feel like the old corporate static life felt like a mix between the Truman show and Groundhogs day, day after day....
I just started my RUclips channel trying to get used to editing and filming so when I start my nomadic life next year I’ll have a small fan base and hopefully making a lot better quality videos. Thank you sharing cat!
At 70, I've been living nomad for 3 years. Right now, I'm sitting in my camper, near Lake Tahoe. My beautiful wife and I are headed west to tour the California Pacific coast. Then to the Texas Gulf coast for the remainder of the winter. I waited until I retired to go nomad, and I'm enjoying every minute, even the challenges!
I went nomad in 2002 at the age of 60. I had a 24 ft class c that held all I kept. In 2003, I found that I could work as a seasonal fee collector for the NPS. Since then I have work about half the year in beautiful national parks (9 different parks, mostly in the west) and traveled the other half of the year. I just turned 82, so I may be done with working. I also got rid of the RV and now travel in a Chryser Pacifica with stowngo seats with a cot (and a tent when needed). I also now have a home base near friends and don't travel as much. It has been and is a great way to live if you like the outdoors.
Not many people would give up there ocean view apartment & 9-5 job to pursue a dream. You did and it's amazing the adventures and experiences you share with us all. Fantastic Catherine !
Great video thanks for all the information and I’m glad that you’re enjoying your lifestyle. I know I would if I was able. It’s so important to be out in nature and not constantly on your phone or disconnected. Take care. See you on your next adventure.
Hugs to that old truck for taking such good care of you all these years🙌❤️ I look forward to your videos all week🥰 Been with you since a few weeks into your journey 🙌
I ❤️ your story. Being a wildlife artist and now creating my own youtube videos in showing the inspiration in my paintings come from God's gifts in His beauty for us to enjoy. Now bringing people with me in my own adventures. You Catherine are again such an inspiration. I look forward to your videos.
Catherine would you be able to hang up your 100K RUclips plaque under your bear picture? I think it’s really important that your hard work is displayed. I’ve followed you since 2019 and the only RUclipsr that I stuck with since then! You are so special.
It is so wonderful that you can treat yourself to non stop beauty wherever you go. You also allow those of us who, because of age or conditions cannot travel. I am able to see places that I know I can't even attempt any longer, so thank you for this beautiful gift. I am so grateful that my late husband shared your channel with me, so I can enjoy it when you post each episode. Thank you so very much, Catherine. ♥
You and your channel are a breath of fresh air. Thank you for sharing with all of us and giving other folks the courage to live a remarkable lifestyle.
Your ebullient personality matched with your incredible talent as a photographer is a joy to behold. We are experiencing some of the incredible places that you have shared with us right now. Thank you. Big hugs. 🌈🌲👣💐
The first time I was inspired to start van life was when I came across your channel. At the time I was interested in the same Springdale as yours and found your channel when searching for tours. But your other videos introduced me to the concept of dispersed camping and how amazing some of these spots are. Your photography of nature is wonderful and inspiring.
Greetings from Wisconsin and a loyal viewer/subscriber. Your lifestyle is truly a blessing. I'm retired from a 30 year job with my county. It was a very good job with nice retirement benefit. I've owned my home for 27 years and it will soon be paid for. I've entertained the idea of selling the house and going on the road. As an avid camper for 30 years, I'm acquainted with roughing it. As a senior, I've made the decision to keep my house and spend as much time as I desire on being in the woods and travel, keeping my house as "base camp". Love your videos and beautiful lifestyle and the magnificent places you travel to. Thank you for sharing them with us.
Hi Cat, You have incredible courage!!!! Just the nature of your lifestyle is probably too much for most of us. As you said there are many rewards (which you deserve). I’ve got to say that the variety of places you have stayed is fascinating! You bring your viewers along. I know I’ve seen a lot more of this country by watching your channel than I would have otherwise. Take care and God bless!
All amazing reasons to live nomadically. ❤ Being out in nature is so much better than being in the cities. We hope to be traveling full-time in 2 short years. Can't wait! We'll be fully retired then. Have a beautiful week! 🙏🏻
Coffee and Cat, great way to enjoy a Sunday morning! I am in the process of doing exactly what you have for the past 5 years, and your channel has inspired me and given me so much great information! Rock on and safe travels
U seem so happy and content, who wouldn't with such gorgeous backdrops! A 9-5 job even with a beach view could mean an early death due to the stress, traffic, deadlines etc! RUclips is much better with ur content!
Appreciate you Catherine! Your channel is one of my favorites....a great combo of education, sharing beauty, classy (especially with the classical music matching the mountain peaks), etc. Wonderful!
Love what you do Cat. Thanks for sharing your outdoor life with us. I doubt I will ever go full time again because now I love my home base in the middle of nowhere Nevada. But I've already been there and done what you are doing now. I just didn't share on You Tube and had to make a living on the road. But it was a lot like you say. Now off to another adventure with me in the High Sierra.
I agree that you have found the perfect lifestyle for you , Cat. Nature would agree with me because you are out there to show us ALL the beautiful of the world not to destroy & violate as some do. Love your trailer which you have fixed so cute & cozy. Always be safe & your online family loves you. ❤❤😊
The difference in people that are happier be it in a city or living on the road is gratitude. When you live w/o gratitude misery will be your company. When you constantly compare yourself to others misery will be your company. Peace of mind is a valuable commodity and I would trade nothing for it. I follow your channel because I can tell that you are grateful, you don't complain. You address concerns and move on...like a grown up 🥴
What a great, informative and honest video. The love of the live style you have chosen is evident. We live in the UK and have visited a few of the places you have covered on your videos - your photographic skills really show places off well xx
The over-landing Land Rover and Jeep communities have adopted a slogan that has become a mantra. “ One life, Live it.” We only get one crack at this , if there is something you want to do, give it a shot. The only fail is if you don’t try. Excuses are easy to come by, difficult childhood, failed marriage, bad job experiences: But your only regret are the things you wanted to do but didn’t try. Even health issues can be worked around within reason. It doesn’t take much money to visit a National Park. I live 2 hours west of Yosemite NP, and yet I know people who have lived here all their lives and have never been. Well done Catherine! You are living the real dream!🙏
Thank You! So much for your beautiful words of advise AND all those stunning videos of places that I wish I could be there. Gracias Octavio from El Paso, Tx.
"Experiences are so much more important than things." So true. We just passed our 5 year mark of being full time on the road. I still enjoy this life so much more than before in a sticks and bricks house. There's just so much more to see that I don't want to quit anytime soon. I know we probably will at some point.
I’m so glad your choice to live this way has worked out for you and that it allows you peace and enjoyment. ❤ Thank you for sharing what fills your life! I appreciate you and your channel every week! ❤
Thank you Catherine. I look forward to your videos every week. Watching your videos make me feel so much better bc i absolutely love nature. It would be so nice to meet you one day. Thank you for your hard work. ❤
Wonderful sharing! I so agree with you on everything you said but could not express it as well you. I travel several months a year either in my truck camper or car camp in my Subi and so glad I can do that at least for the reasons you stated.
My family and I have just lost our home, and facing the reality of this lifestyle. I've always had my eye on it, but never thought I would be forced into it. As hard as this all is, your video has helped with encouragement beyond what I can describe. Thank you for spending the time to give others hope.
I have learned so much from watching your channel, Catherine, thank you. I just started my nomad lifestyle this past August and am loving it tremendously, it is a dream come true. Trust the process, don't let fear control your life, if you never go you'll never know
Catherine, my husband and I love your adventures. When you consider getting your new truck, you might want to contact the manufacturer and let them know of its mileage, functioning, and dependability over the years. They may offer to buy it from you OR give you a good trade. It might have some advertising value to the manufacturer, at least bragging rights. A vehicle with that high of mileage, still on the road is highly priced. BTW, I’m a Catherine just your Catherine. I feel like we’re by far the best spelling. ❤
Mahalo for your insights, this is why I bought my RV. I’m upgrading a few things and making it more homey before I embark on my full time journey I am sooooo excited
Stuff is a time stealer. You can get more stuff and then you have to do something with that stuff. It takes time to fool around with that stuff. You can’t get more time. The time we have is unknown. I have become a minimalist. Stuff ain’t gonna steal any time from me.
Thanks for sharing all your beautiful adventures!❤ I am hoping to travel on the road out west someday. I am in the decluttering stage. My main obstacle is my safety, which is normal especially for women! I would love to spend more time in mature,🌲, especially wildlife! 🦌🐾🍂🐦
I live in a converted 2001 Sienna and love the life. My first loop was FL to AZ to WY to Maine and back to FL. So many stops that were mind blowing. Getting ready to head towards AZ again. Love the challenge of finding free sites and places to visit. I mostly use IOverlander.
Great video. My favorite quote is something like it's not the number of breaths in life but the life in those breaths. As you get closer to the end I hope everyone can look back and say it wasn't perfect but damn I did it right.
You are such an inspiration. I inherited my Dad's love of traveling and would love to live on the road. Unfortunately I take care of my elderly mother so it will have to wait. After watching your videos, I will be more prepared for when I finally can live on the road. Thank you for another great video.
This is what i want to do once my daughters are in college and somewhat stable. I don’t know how i feel about selling my house, or renting it out, either way I’d have to get rid of things or put them in storage if I’m gonna rent it out. My daughters are 17 and 13 now so i have at least 5-6 years to wait. Doing the 9-5 mom life, lots of housework, not enough money for a lot of travel. Mainly local camping in my suv. But this is definitely something i want to do since i work in healthcare i can do travel assignments
Thank you for this video - you reminded me of why I chose the lifestyle…which I gave up when my husband did not enjoy it as much as he anticipated (and we are very experienced with living in a truck camper). I am hoping to return soon to the road full-time, or VERY long term, while my husband enjoys the stationary life with the house and unlimited hot water. I needed to hear what you shared to bring me back to MY dream. Continued safe, fun, and inspirational living.
CAT you ROCK and are a awesome inspiration!!! Your genuine and keep it simple and exciting!! I hope you find your dream property in Colorado or wherever it may be!!😊
Got off the road last year after 4 years of full time travel. Felt the need to have a base again. Was a west coaster as well. Now in Northern Maine and will hit the road part time again and make our cabin homestead an Air BnB.. Let it help pay for itself. If you ever get east you have a place for a couple of days.
Thanks for another great rundown! Hope some day someone posts a video describing how the lifestyle will look when older age prevents driving. And to be clear I hope everyone who wishes to get the chance to experience this lifestyle does, myself included !
Thank YOU Catherine,,, i have been "Following" you for about a year,,, 3 Months ago I decided MY Game plan to live my life in Nature again,,, I am early 60's and I have my health and Desire to get OUT before I get too OLD,,, I am in the process of Downsizing my "collection of "Clutter"... this coming Summer I will spend on a Morey Boogie Board ,,, My Mindset has become "What would Jimmy Buffet DO ?"...
The new new starlink mini is designed to be used by backpackers, it has built in router and is the size of a piece of paper.. $600 for the unit & then $50-$150month pausable service if you choose only for way off grid locations. Can be powered by larger 23,000ma power banks w/adapter not included.
Your video was very inspirational and even though I live in Central Australia, I found you advise to live life and travel and everything that goes with it. Good on you. Some of the places you go to are just amazing.😀
Living one of my dreams and happy for your experiences and adventures to follow. You have as many organized skills and persistence as running one 's own self made company making and meeting all the maintenance decisions to keep the enjoyment and exploring in tune. A real entrepreneur!
Very well said! I would add #10 is the connections I've made since living a nomadic lifestyle....I have made friends for life (even being in my mid-50's, it's not too late to make new friendships) since I started living in my miniskoolie. The media is GREAT at making us anxious and distrustful but I've found nothing but lovely people in my travels around North America. This has been the best decision of my life and as you said, I regret NOTHING about it.
It's been fun following you through the years. You catch the beauty of our country. A couple of things I do on my extended trips. When I reach a town in the west I look for a recreation center. I get a workout and a shower. It's a cheap way to get a little pampering. I have a lance camper with 2 slide outs and find that the kitchen expansion gives me a chance to cook a restaurant grade meal. I figure out my menu for the week before shopping. I also have a variety of spices making it easy to change my menus.
Love you, love this channel, love and look forward to Sunday’s surprises and adventures. You are an amazing and talented photographer….and of course, an awesome woman. Be Safe, Be Blessed. In my prayers🙏🙏
Good Sunday morning to you Catherine! You know I really appreciate you and everything you post. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob. Be well and stay safe. Can you please do a video on safety when traveling and cam. Thanks 😘❤️
Big News! I have followed you since near the beginning with the Lance. Your weekly vids have always been something to look forward to every week during the weekly grind. Last weekend I bought my own Lance, 2008 Lance 845, picking it up this weekend on my Silverado. I am almost to the point of heading out for good. Couple more months I'm outtie! Thanks so much for your entertaining wonderful videos to keep me inspired all these years. Soon Lance, and me, will be hitting the road! Hope to see you out there! Stay safe and keep up the good life, Chris (and Lance)
I live in southern Spain and my dream is to buy a small house in the mountains of northern Spain, but I keep telling myself i'm getting older, 60 next year, and that's why I never seem to "go for it ". I often wonder what would I do if I got ill for example, as I don't have any family at all, it's only me and my dog!!!!
Thx Cat...you are an inspiration! You decided what you wanted to do and experience then went for it. I wish you the best and safe travels and look forward to seeing your incredible photography skills and locales you camp.
Great reasons, I can relate! I also feel like the old corporate static life felt like a mix between the Truman show and Groundhogs day, day after day....

Definitely keep your house as a base camp. When you get tired of traveling, you’ll have it to fall back on until you’re ready to go out again. ✌️
You could rent it out, give you extra money to fall back on. Maybe your children would want it,just have them save a bedroom for you!
@@conniewaite1371 - Thanks for your input. It's a good thought, but I wouldn't plan on being gone long enough to rent it out.
Good plan. Me too.

It's always nice to watch your videos. Watching from Kingman Arizona 👍
Thank you for taking me along!
What a life😍 I wish you the best.
Inspirational and informative video Catherine! Love your Sunday vlogs.
Good Morning 🌄 Thank You for sharing your observations on the outdoor Lifestyle. Great Video!! Stay Safe, keep posting and I'll keep watching 🙏👍🐕🦺
Another great one. Well done. Your content is really good stuff.
If I was single, I would love to “hit the road”! My hiking would be limited though.
Thanks 😘❤️
Thank you for sharing I love your channel!
