I got curious who rimbaud is and searched up. He is a famous french poet that his works are about modernism and surrealism. But thinking that this song is all about love, i looked up on his relationship. He had a two year affair with Paul Verlaine, who is also a famous writer that helped him to be recognized. Their relationship was wild and disastrous. They end up hurting each other physically that made Verlaine shot Rimbaud's wrist. It was a 2-year sentence. Rimbaud at this time, made himself more famous and did lots of lit works. After Verlaine's prison life, still inlove and longing for Rimbaud, he made Alfred come to London and meet him, only to have an awful reunion. But on the contrary, Rimbaud, made a letter to Verlaine only to show that he still love him. He's still longing for his friend, his love. That even if they hurt each other, Rimbaud still have feelings for him, making him come back to his arms.
food for thought when he was here in the PH nobody really supported him, now hes successful, blooming and making dirty hits as an artist suddenly people start claiming him the gem of PH music industry well uhmm it annoys me so much :) hes a great artist no nationality involved okay? peace.

ok but it gets better if you picture him waking up at 2am because his cell rang, its his ex, and this whole song is a whispered conversation he's having with her half asleep while she cries drunkenly about how things arent the same and his new gf sleeps next to him. so pretend there's another side to this conversation and every bit of the song is his response to her. i think that's what he was going for and it adds sooooo much dimension. especially when he goes something like "my baby's next to me asleep everythings so so sweet". its kinda like "I moved on, you moved on... things are good so what is this call about?" but he also sounds like he really cares about her, asking what she needs, does she wanna party (i'm assuming to help take her mind off things... it seems like she might be a party girl cause he said "my brother saw you with your DJ friends"). in the chorus he goes "i'm sorry things arent the same" so its clear she's probably not as happy as she pretended to be and here on the phome she confesses that. it really sounds like she maybe drunk called him bc his repsonses sound like he's answering her random babbles about the past, about how he reminded her of her dad, about how she wants to cry etc. and some parts especially the end sound like she keeps cutting him off kind of word vomitting and he's answering, not getting the chance to finish a thought before she says something else. maybe there's still some feelings there because it almost sounds like he'd be willing to take her back or comfort her (but the sleeping gf he mentioned earlier is why he cant). I maybe got too deep about it but its freakin great for imagery LOL

It’s like you can picture the girl calling him a bit tipsy “wanting to catch up” but not aware of the time bc she parties a lot and he at one point used to party with her, and maybe they broke up bc the partying got too much and he wanted to settle down but she didn’t , so she let him go, and later realized it was mistake hence why she called him, maybe thinking he’s miserable without her but he said he has a new love and everything is great, which probably is why she said “she wants to cry” and he’s all confused asking “why would that make you want to..?” (Like why are you crying, you’re the one that let me go). Life isn’t going her way and she’s probably going through a lot, thinking maybe he’ll somehow make it better. And then the small plot twist in the end, even though he moved on and is happy, there’s a small part of him that will always care about her. Maybe his first love.
