Nice video Pablo. Thanks. Next time though, no need to fast forward the Sole Stitching machine on my behalf! That is one of my favourite parts. I could watch and listen to that cool old machine for ages! Beautiful stuff.
Fabulous upgrade on the photography! The music is a little overpowering, at least it's less repetitive than what other channels do. I tend to like the ASMR approach, or better yet the instructional voiceovers more. That said, I get what you're trying to do and I really appreciate you upgrading the overall video experience! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Pablo! I always pick up a few of your techniques. I'm interested about the hand-grooving before running the perimeter with the machine's groover. Is there an advantage to that method? ✌
How are the Dr Sole soles compared to the originals when it comes to firmness? I had Vibram 1705s put on my Iron Rangers because the very stiff heel makes my 47 year old knees a little sore, and I don't have bad knees! I love the heritage and construction of the Iron Rangers, and hope to keep mine for decades (I don't 'work' in them), but wanted to make them less tiring to walk in. I like the 1705s so far.
Watching you sew the welt on and the needle comes out under the gemming. Doesn’t this in effect break the bond of glue that holds the gemming to the insole?
I just rewatched the welting portion of the video to see what you commented on. All of the stitches look properly sewn to me. Are you able to give a time stamp from the portion where you think the stitching is under the gemming?
I feel the customer should have chose a different style. Dr sole has several options that would have been more appropriate. With that said to each their own. I plan to have this exact resole done to my beckman’s (cigar) when the time comes and the green dr sole when my other beckmans (black) are ready.

It gives me a guide to follow on the machine

1705s are nice comfy soles. Dr. Soles are sturdy, durable and have good traction

I'm not sure what you're talking about but no the welts were sewn on correctly

I would probably wear the boots a bit more first before any serious mods. But this is mostly a resole than a full rebuild, right?
Some people want a custom pair out the gate

This style on the 8111 was made popular by Brian The Bootmaker. I love it.
@@dimarshoerepair Brian hasn’t posted a video on YT in over 6 months. Hope he is doing well.
Nice work! Was it difficult balancing the boot with the extra heel height?
Not at all
Are the Iron Rangers a good boot for Construction Work?
Not if you need a steel toe
