There are times they will stock some big trout a few miles from were i live in the river but its a different company who did it and they charge 5.00 dollars to fish it. wow some big trout. But they havent stocked it like that anymore. Hope they do it again.
@@razorblue9697 Nice! Here in Oregon they stop stocking around the 1st week of October and don't start until typically March. But those October trout can be BIG ones! Best of luck next time you hit the water!
@@WillyFish Thank's Best of Luck to you to.
I got into fishing around 1 year ago seriously started with bass but I moved to a spot that’s good trout fishing so I got into trout fishing a lot chasing some big browns right know I’m only 13 but I love fishing for trout I been using spinners sometimes power bait and been slaying today I caught 7 I go fishing around sunset bc I got to walk 2 miles to get there and it’s cold
Right on! Keep going out there and fishing for bass and trout! 7 is a good number of fish this time of year - keep it up!!!
Brown rooster tail with a gold spinner has been legendary for me for years
Brown and yellow in the fall and winter are money!
Don't fish in slow shallow water. Target slow deepwater. Unlike summer the deeper water will actually be warmer than the shallow water during the winter.
This conventional wisdom is not true. The deeper water isn't always warmer, the shallows can be warmer if the air temp is higher than water temp. When middle and upper water columns reach equilibrium with air (usually deep into the winter), then slower deeper water will usually be warmer because of less interaction with cold air. But if air temp is higher the upper water column (late winter, for example) fish will seek the top column, ie in the shallows because that particular depth is warming in contact with air.
Thanks for the awesome tips! I live in New England and it's freeeezing outside. The bass aren't really biting anymore so now I'm stoked to go fishing for trout!
Best of luck out trout fishing Ismael! I have some more winter trout videos coming, so stay tuned!
Thanks I just started fly fishing in summer into fall and I don’t know how to get trout in the winter. This helped

The cutthroat is such a beautiful fish. I used to fish them in wyoming. always catch and release fly fishing never been in winter
Nice! I haven't targeted cutthroad here in Oregon, but I have some plans this summer to explore a few new spots to go after them!
I love lighter low profile line in winter to catch those smarter fish
The fights on 4lb line can be epic!!!

Great tips!! 💯 with that sleeping in bite!!
Right!!??!! I've had two days in the last two weeks where I started fishing at 12:30 and we got 6 and 5 trout on each of those days. Sleep in!
nice video
Thank you Albert, much appreciated!
I'd rather fish for walleye all year round they taste better and everything they're better to catch tastier damn right
I can't disagree with you on that! For myself, it's a very long drive this time of year to target Walleye (3+ hours) where as I can stay closer to home and still get after some trout, until winter steelhead fishing picks up!
Have caught some real nice ones in yellowstone lake
That's awesome!!!
My late wife's family has a cabin about 7iles from the east gate that we would spend about a month at each year so most of my fishing was done on the north fork from the park to buffalo bill res. I've caught some truly nice fish . I believe the last one was just over 19 " I so miss that place . Haven't thought of it in years thanks for bring back such found memories
@@user-KrackerJack Sorry to hear about your late wife. I hope that fishing spot brings fond memories of fishing and the outdoors. I have a couple of trout fishing spots where my grandfather took me fishing in the summer, and I think about him every time I fish that spot.
Would the same apply in Arizona? Never had luck here trout fishing but keeping my hopes strong!
Yes. But every body of water is different. Change colors, sizes, presentation types until you find what works on the body of water you fish. I've had multiple trips going to the same water without catching anything. Keep your head up, try some different things and stay positive!
@@WillyFish great tips
@@aceboardtheangler5252 TY!
I've fished a lot in the White Mountains. Yes it applies... actually everywhere to be honest. Or rather, it "can" apply. Silver Creek outside of Show Low is very, very slow current, to the point you sometimes can't even see it flowing. Very low current water systems have a tendency to reach equilibrium very slowly, so keep that in mind as you figure this out -- there will be a larger lag that water will take to warm or cool down in relation to average air temperature. It's also spring fed, which typically means a much more steady temperature year-round. But obviously not always steady... it will still have variation day to day, through the day, and closer or farther from the spring. Don't always employ the same "fish warm, fish deep" philosophy. Instead consider where you think the warmest water would be? The depth fish are at will be in relation to the air temperature, since that is the largest impacting variable on Silver Creek. If water is cold, low 40s for example, and the water is always moving slow, and the air temp is in the 50s, it could very well be that fish will be near the surface because in that scenario the upper water column is being warmed. If the water is in the 40s and the average air temp throughout the day is in the low 40s, high 30s, it will probably be a terrible day of fishing downstream of the spring and all of the fish would have focused on water closer to the spring. Ideally, I would typically find larger pools a good walk upstream (almost a full mile hike) from the carpark, since that will place you closer to the spring and allow you to adjust to depth depending on where you anticipate trout to be in relation to water temperature.
So I’m going fishing again today it’s only 40 should I start small?
Start small and size up or size down even smaller for your baits depending on the weather and conditions
So fishing in the morning is a for sure no go? I won’t catch any fish at all?
It's not that you won't catch fish. You have a higher percentage of catching fish in the mid to later part of the day. In the winter I catch 90%+ of winter trout from 10:30am - 4pm.
Some cool tips there, check out some of the trout ive caught in lake leake Tasmania.:) will sub.:)
I will check it out, thanks!
Can u fish from trout on land during ice fishing season plz tell me
You will find more success fishing in the middle of the lake or pond during ice fishing season
“Fish more spinners!”
*shows spoon*
Dude I literally just commented that lol
I have an issue where the water is so cold that the fish go into hibernation. Is it possible to catch hibernating fish or am I screwed?
The colder water temperatures make it tough for the trout bite. Cover more water, smaller presentations and fishing different presentations. With those cold temps you somedays just have to get the presentation right infront of them for a bite. Cover lots of water and find pockets where the sun is hitting directly on the water and you might find that slightly warmer water is where they are hanging out and give you a better chance at a bite! Best of luck when you get back out there.
Hermens Outdoors Thanks! Best of luck for you too!
Ok so I’m going fishing tomorrow It’s gonna be 60 something so what should I use for bait ? And I’m going to a pond or lake so Idk
If you are bank fishing, I would use eggs, spinners, minnows or plunk powerbait. If you are in a kayak or boat and trolling at the lake, use spinners, plugs or spoons. I hope this helps!
@@WillyFish Thx so much I’ll tell you tomorrow if I get any👍🏽
@@208BASSIN Best of luck and go get 'em! Tight line!!!
@@WillyFish I’m late but we got 8 Trout
3:23 unless he is keeping that trout, that is some god awful screwed up handling of that fish. aside from that, he has givin some great helpful, straight foward info
I did keep that fish Rich. Smoked it up on the Traeger, it was delicious for dinner. And I did get a new net to better handle trout.
"Fish more spinners" *shows a spoon* 😂
Micro trout magnets.
Not a single winter fishing image.
I'm working on some new winter fishing content. Stay tuned...
Important note: they are hyper active within an hour of sunset
Great tip!
Fish spinners shows a spoon lol
3:25 mega cringe 😬 hold the thing don’t fuck it up
Right!!! I actually kept that trout for a catch and cook at home to try a new trout recipe.
“Fish more spinners” … shows a spoon
the dragging of the fish along shore was just terrible.
This is literally the worst fish handling i ve seen ever from a "professional".
I can not endorse this video.
