My love of foundation review videos has caused me to do these side by sides on myself on weekend mornings just for fun 😂. I've discovered a couple things. 1. I wear so many different shades in different foundations, cools warms, neutrals and even one olive ( Tom Ford) they never look noticably different next to each other on my face, how they wear and look in general is different leading me to conclusion 2 2. I have a good side and a bad side of my face no matter what foundation is on either ! It's the opposite of what seems normal it's my left side that would be in the sun more due to driving, seems I can put dirt on that side and it still looks better than my right 😅😮😂
Both didn't work on my dry skin, but I sure love watching your review of them anyway. Awesome Shelley, especially the details on each and the day time wear test.
Kathy My skin is very dry. I am not exaggerating if I tell you that I have tried most of the i high end brands for dry skin. The only foundation that suits my skin is kryolan supracolor. Many people ask me what kind of foundation I use. It is really beautiful. Its only drawback is that it needs a specific technique when applying it on the face. You must prepare a soft, soft sponge that is not tight in texture and be wet. Then take some of the foundation and apply it on the face by wiping, not patting.
@نورا نورا Thanks for that suggestion, plus the application method that works well for dry skin. I wish the more pro brands like Kryolan and RCMA and Mehron were more readily available to the general public in common stores like Ulta or Target, because to get the correct shade is difficult and perhaps we can find it on Amazon here in the states. I've only tried Kryolan for costume-special effects makeup, but I'll seek out my shade in this and try the foundation! Thank you!
Kathy You are welcome, my dear, and thank you for your response. This is of your kindness. I hope you find the right foundation for your skin. If you want to buy kryolan, do not buy it from Amazon, I advise you to buy it from their website. 💐💐
I love foundation, I have so many I need to use up before I purchase new, I’m so anxious to try the Haus Labs foundation and I hoping Gwen Stefani come out with one in her GXVE line…. Love Gwen…💜
I bought the revlon illum and it was too light so I mixed it w my d bronzi drops and it was the prettiest foundation Iv ever put on my face! I wear that combo more than anything else I have (and I have them all )
I've never tried the Mario one, but I was still interested because I've seen others comparing the two. I already have the Revlon one and really like it. Thanks for the comparison!
I am using Revlon Illuminance, 201. It is really skin like. I love the light coverage because I have pretty smooth skin. I love the dewy and radiant look of Revlon. I subscribe the foundation on Amazon. Nevertheless, I do like to keep my foundation look fresh. So I do a little touch up in mid afternoon. I enjoy the Revlon foundation on my face.
I found the Revlon Illuminance at Target for $16.99 and Walmart's price was $13.48. Walmart also had a lot more shades available in-store than Target had. I'm really enjoying it as it looks very natural on my skin and is lightweight/comfortable to wear. 😊 I agree about the Makeup by Mario in that it looks dewy but not necessarily shimmery. I also agree about the shade/numbering system with the Revlon. I too peeled off the seal and stuck it on the bottom of the bottle. Lol! Your Target sounds like my Walmart. It's a mess. I wear the same shade (espresso) in the NYX brow products. I have the Lift n Snatch brow micro pen. It works well but dries fast so no time to correct mistakes. 😵💫
Wow good to know with the Nyx pen! I can't say I'm a huge fan of this fluff pencil. The brush doesn't separate brow hairs at all so I'm not sure if it's really even doing anything.
@@goow I looked at that brow product first before buying the pen. The brush is really dense considering it's intended for brow grooming. Your description of a "shoe brush" is spot on. 😄
I think the Revlon shades are weird because of the way they do undertones. I’m fair olive. With Revlon, sometimes the shade that I need is a higher number but better undertone and lighter. It is weird. There are a few other brands that seem to work that way but I can’t remember which off the top of my head. It’s obvious to me now when I look at swatches. I do want to try the Revlon one but our Walmart here in the city is small and has a limited selection. I probably should try Target instead. Both the foundations look good on you. Thanks for the comparison
I use creamy natural for cover girl, sandy beige for Revlon New Complexion Foundation. Revlon New Complexion is my favorite foundation. It is light to medium coverage. Unfortunately, Revlon is trying to discontinue it. I don’t find it in any drug stores.
My bottle of Makeup by Mario has (4C) teeny tiny sparkles/shimmer that have settled in the bottom of the bottle. Try looking at the bottle with the flashlight on your phone. ❤
Always a pleasure to watch you, I bought the Mario and I wanted to love it, but I found it too thick and mask like, I prefer light textures,so it went back…I worry the Revlon isn’t luminous enough, but for the price, worth a try..I will maybe get the it cosmetics CC nude, the original was too mask like for me , I must say I don’t understand its popularity Hello from Canada !
'I love the crinkle is a Target bag in a video.' 😂😂 If you know, you know and you know I'm old. I am loving LOVING that Revlon foundation; I've found myself reaching for it over my beloved Nars light reflecting... So good. I hear you with the bride color! My brows are quite dark but super like antarctic cool. Morphe pencils in Java are pretty good, there's a couple more but I can't see the shade for love or money. If I ever remember I'm let you know! Ziva's year of content continues... 😻
Oh nice! You'll let us know about the glowy sunscreen, i agree with you about the chemical sunscreen wears better under makeup..I'll only add a mineral type on the perimeter of my face, neck and chest👍
After a few wears now, the Elf glow sunscreen is meh. It looks like a glazed donut on the skin so it's not really wearable on its own, and it doesn't seem to improve wear or anything that a primer typically does. It is however a nice little glow boost under foundation, so I'll keep using it, but I probably won't repurchase. It pilled up a bit under 1 of the 3 foundations I've worn it with so far (can't remember which one).
Thank you for that comparison. I have been ripping through the drugstore foundations lately. Even revisited Rimmel lasting foundation. It has a pump now. I got the Covergirl gloss, but it smelled so bad had to toss it. We have a Walmart close to us that is always in complete shambles but the one a few miles away is neat and tidy. My kids always got so annoyed when I made them put things back where they got them from. Now they are adults and have worked retail, they understand. I worked in retail and it was frustrating finding items left all over the place. Now sometimes I even "re-stock" the makeup products into the right slots while I am browsing. I know, weird, but at least the next shopper will have a better chance at finding what they are looking for.
Nyx lift and snatch is wonderful for those of us with basically no brows i add in both upward and downward strokes so real looking, and they last forever I have the same two o er six months.
I MUCH prefer the Revlon Illuminance. The initial wear is the same, but the Mario breaks down after a few hours (like maybe 4 hours). The only way I can use the Mario is to mix it with a long wearing foundation, which kind of defeats the purpose!
I can’t stand when you get a very expensive product and it’s so finicky that you have to make your own concoction for it to even work. I love the Revlon, and I am a primer girl, but find this doesn’t even really need one. Also, it’s very light on the skin like a CC or BB cream, but gives more coverage than a lot of them. They need to expand their undertones because they suck. They have very few cool and just as few neutral undertones while the rest are warm tone, and unless you mix something in, the wrong undertone can make a very good product look horrible.
My target makeup area went through a month or two recently where it was just an absolute disaster. Then the Ulta makeup moved in. I think they had stopped stocking and managing the area while they were getting ready for the transition. Hopefully it will be the same for you bc now mine is always so well stocked and maintained
Thanks a lot Shelly for this video. Living in Europe I don’t have access to any of those foundations, but it is always good to go back to your video when I grab any 1 of those in future. Btw, what is your take on the viral “under painting” technique, have you ever tried that, would love to know your thoughts on that on mature skin. Have a great day ahead you too.❤❤❤❤
I haven't tried it as I'm usually wearing higher coverage foundations that would cover up any bronzer/blush/highlight put down first, but I will try it one of these days when I'm wearing less coverage!
I didn’t think there was any glitter in the MBM either until one day I was driving in direct sunlight and happens to catch myself in the mirror and was shimmering like Edward Cullen lol. It’s super subtle but can see it in direct sunlight.
Those CG Yummy lip glosses are no better than what I can find at the dollar store and they run $11. For how crazy of a hype they’ve gotten, I was very disappointed and most the shades end up looking the exact same. So if you want any color at all, and even then it’ll be pretty sheer, I’d recommend the darkest shades. They don’t apply like it looks, but most you’ll get is a pink, whether it is the Acai or the strawberry (deepest shades they have.) They are incredibly thick too.
I love your lip colour. Have you tried Maybelline super stay vinyl ink lipstick. I love it. I like the very slight sticky feel on my lips , so I know I have lipstick on and I don’t need to check my lips to retouch like the regular lipsticks.
Always Fun to revisit Revlon Products.. thanks for the comparisons ...if the NYX brush seems to firm.. maybe it is to use it first to fluff the brows before the color?? just a thought! As always Fun spending time with you!!
99% of the time I'm wearing the Purito Daily Go-To 50+ or the Good Molecules SPF 30 in the winter (I prefer 50+ in the summer), or the La Roche Posay European formulas that I grab when I'm over the pond. The UVMUNE hydrating cream SPF 50 and the Invisible Fluid are my 2 favorites by LRP (but the latter does have alcohol so I only wear it in the summer - too drying in the winter for me).
@@JPMJPM I personally can’t tell. I actually have super dry skin and rosacea. It has a few kinds of hyaluronic acid in it. My skin loves it. I’ve been using it on and off for about five years now. It was a Dr. Dray recommendation. I’ve tried many others (I’ve been using up all my SPFs, so I’ve not tried the newer ones like BoJ or the Purito) and it’s still my holy grail.
I have tried both foundations and found the revlon a little drying, surprisingly. Did you notice that? I bought the 117 too, but I need darker and the next number I found is 201….strange!

Oh Shelly, if only you knew how hard it is to get stuff in NZ :(. I went to look at the Infalliable Powder and the Maybelline 16 Hour Powder in store and you'll never guess ... they only had FOUR Shades. The L'Oreal True Match Liquid (not the new one, the ooooold one) has about 16. And drugstore pricing? The Revlon Colourstay foundation we can get here (again, not the new one) is USD28.52 approx. We get so ripped off :(.
Dang you guys I got the notification and I thought I'm going to be the first to comment for the first time , but dang it you like waiting here for her to make a video? or what!!! Lovely video by the way as usual
Remember when $10 was Top Tier at the drugstore? Now o mug I find something for under $15 I’m not as irritated. How do they compare to Bobbi Brown serum, which I feel is thicker than 5 years ago, and I liked the runnier one better. Yeay! Curious about ELF sunscreen.
Yep double-digits was like high-end drugstore. When you look at something like MAC Studio Radiance (one of my favorites), it's $39 but for 1.7 oz so it's like $23 for an ounce - just a few dollars more than an ounce of drugstore foundation.
The Wal Marts and Targets where I live are always empty or trashed out! I was in Singapore for over a year and when I got back I couldn’t believe how trashy the Target became because usually Target was quite nice 😢
Hi! Thanks so much for the comparison review. Unless it’s magnificent, I probably wouldn’t pay the Mario price. I’m actually getting ready to order the L’Oréal True Match foundation since watching your review and one other. WTH. Can’t beat that pricing. I did want to ask you what primer works best for you. Like you, my nose and chin always seem to lose coverage. If you get a chance, like to hear back from you and your opinion. I have dry desert skin. Thanks so much!
@@goow Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly! I actually just finished watching your video on your 10 best blurring primers. Thanks again. Have a great day! Unless i pest you again today. Haha
I wish I could see the glitter everyone is talking about! I've even sheered it out on the back of my hand with a magnifying glass trying to see glitter and I don't see any!
Love your videos!! Question though, if you wanted medium coverage and had to use more of the Revlon for the same effect, wouldn't the cost be almost the same? How much product is in each bottle?? I am a light coverage kind of girl, so Revlon would be my choice, but I am still curious about the overall cost.
They're both one ounce bottles in this case. Since $42 is 2.3x as much as $18, if you used 2.3 times as much of the cheaper foundation to reach the same coverage of the more expensive one, they'd be basically equivalent in price per use - but that's a LOT of foundation for one use, so even though at a higher usage rate, the cheaper foundation is not a 1:1 price comparison, if you used say 1.5 times as much foundation (I'd say that's probably reasonable, maybe even a little bit over), the price comparison then is more like $42 to $27 - still a bargain in this comparison.
The Mario looks more luminous and much better. Let’s face it, it’s what people can afford really and although I like foundation, every one looks caked on so I prefer bbcream or concealer..
In my opinion, there’s no comparison at all. The Mario side looks flawless with a lit from within look. Revlon looks heavy and enlarged your pores a bit. The famous Mario shimmer is on the inside of the bottle - not in the product.
That would explain the shimmer!!!! I've been so confused. Some people say they see it on my face but I've tried and tried and I just don't see any in the product.
She nearly put twice as much of the Mario side on her one side than she used for the Revlon, so that’s why Mario gave more coverage initially, until she added more after blending the first layer in. I am surprised 117 worked for you. Usually we are the same shade and 117 was way too dark and yellow for me. I had to get the 109 which was more neutral and peachy than yellow. Seems the Revlon has a built in primer, if you will, because often times a primer will mess it up vs when it’s applied and worn on its own. Primers can cause it to emphasize what you are trying to hide. If you get this and don’t like it, try it on its own before you throw in the towel or use different primers to see what works best because it really is a great foundation (especially for more mature skin who wants a natural finish but something with enough coverage to even out your skin.)
😂 Glad you found it!! I've been wearing that one and the berry one under glosses this week and I really like them! They aren't as dry as some lip liners.
I tried to find this bronzer on Walmart’s website. There is a third party vendor selling it for $46.00😳-no thank you. People are so greedy. I know that people go into business to make money but really? Anyway, I will keep looking lol 🙂💜
It sounds like Flower Beauty is going a big expansion behind the scenes so whatever makeup is in stores will be selling out and then they're re-launching with both makeup and lifestyle products (that's how I'm reading their message on their web site, anyway!)
I can’t believe how much more expensive drug store makeup is becoming. I mean, you’re still saving money compared to high end, but almost $20 for a Revlon foundation? Stupid inflation
I see the "shimmer" in the Mario. I would guess it has mica in it. Yep, just checked it. It does have mica (but low in the list). That would be the "light reflective" you are seeing. I'm more of a matte/satin girl. I don’t like mica!
I think that the Revlon does a better job on forehead wrinkles. The Mario side shows them much more.
I noticed that, too.
YEP!
@@JPMJPM😮 you enjoy Shanny AND makeup? We’re clearly supposed to be friends. 😂

Yikes that is wild!!! I'm guessing NZ doesn't have a lot of local brands manufacturing makeup :( That is tough!!
Dang you guys I got the notification and I thought I'm going to be the first to comment for the first time , but dang it you like waiting here for her to make a video? or what!!!
Lovely video by the way as usual
😂 I don't know how people are so fast to the draw!!
Your nails are so cute!
Thanks, JP! Color Street did these new semi-transparent "jelly-like" nails and of course I had to layer every possible combo to make the rainbow 😂
I've seen no glitter in it...maybe we're all blind lol. I love the Mario and it's on sale right now at Sephora!
My query is> if I own the new Revelon, and I do, love it! Do I need to get the new Loreal Blendable foundation?
Love your videos!!!
Nope I think you're fine with the Revlon! They're quite similar and I actually think the Revlon has better ingredients.
Beautiful YOU!
Lone cat hair on the brush but no kitty kameos?
Ziva must have slept through this one! 😹
"It's a grabby thing" tool.. oh yeah, you're my kind of people 🤣 And, oddly enough, I knew exactly what you were talking about! 😳
😂😂😂❤ my people!!
I would love to see Yensa and Haus side by side. Thank you🎉❤
Oooh interesting - added to my list! They do look similar on the skin! Thanks, Imelda!
I wanted to add I saw no glitter in the Mario either !!
I'm glad it's not just me because I'm starting to think I'm blind to it!! SO many people seem to see it in other videos!
The Wal Marts and Targets where I live are always empty or trashed out! I was in Singapore for over a year and when I got back I couldn’t believe how trashy the Target became because usually Target was quite nice 😢
I was bummed because my Target has typically been very nice but it has been going downhill lately :(
Hi Joy! The Wet n Wild Impossible Primer is one of my favorites. I have also been enjoying the Caliray So Blown primer a lot lately!
@@goow Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly! I actually just finished watching your video on your 10 best blurring primers. Thanks again. Have a great day! Unless i pest you again today. Haha
Mario's has straight up glitter in it LOL. The Revlon doesn't at all. That's a win right there!
I wish I could see the glitter everyone is talking about! I've even sheered it out on the back of my hand with a magnifying glass trying to see glitter and I don't see any!
You can see the shimmer if you shine a flashlight on your bottle.
@@goow I mean it literally has Mica in it which tbh is a bit concerning If you know anything about mica mining :(
@@goow You can see it in your video as well when you do a close up check in
There’s no glitter whatsoever.
The nyx basic mechanical black liner works BETTER for me than the urban decay black 😱it staysssss
Oooh I'll try that one - thanks, Hayley!
Yup this is the dupe I was talking about. Why pay $$$$$ for the same look 🤔.. You should do more dupe videos if Ziva approves of course 🤔..
😹 Ziva approves of anything that means more people will comment that they love her 😹
Love your videos!!
Hi 😊 Maybe the Flower bronzer is on the Ulta site?
Oooh I just checked and only the darker shade is in stock..... I hope they come out with a replacement soon!!!
@@goow oh darn! Amazon maybe?
Damn that Mario one is beautiful.
I like the Revlon side better
The Mario looks more luminous and much better. Let’s face it, it’s what people can afford really and although I like foundation, every one looks caked on so I prefer bbcream or concealer..
Which BK Beauty brush are you using?
It's the BK Beauty 101 foundation brush!
@@goow there is a "shimmer". It the mica.
I like the Revlon side better!
I want to meet the people that have a perfect brow product color match. Maybe they can help the rest of us that so with pretty close matches 😅
LOL same!!! 😂
The elf sunscreen burned so badly! I used it one time and immediately returned. So disappointed. I'll have to stick with mineral sunscreens.
It doesn't burn me but it's definitely a glazed donut kind of look which is not usually what I'm going for.
Channellocks??
You have almost flawless skin, use Revlon because it looks very natural.
What shade was the lip liner?
It would help if I read the description lol
😂 Glad you found it!! I've been wearing that one and the berry one under glosses this week and I really like them! They aren't as dry as some lip liners.
I paid $14. for the Revlon at Walmart. At 67 I won’t pay $42. for foundation anymore.
Thanks so much for this comparison and review. It sounds like you used a pliers or a wrench. 💕
Laugh-vender= lavender. 😂
I laughed when I saw it online because on the cap it's written on 2 different lines so I was reading it as different words 😂
@@goow it’s like the game Mad Gab…I heard what it meant when you said it out loud…LOVE your videos by the way.
I think the Revlon shade is a little ashy for you.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Maybe it was a play on the word LAVENDER… LAUGHENDER. Except that ending laughs.. doesn’t sound positive. I don’t know
I bet that's what they're going for but you're right.... ending laughs sounds.... sad!!! lol!
I can’t believe how much more expensive drug store makeup is becoming. I mean, you’re still saving money compared to high end, but almost $20 for a Revlon foundation? Stupid inflation
My jaw drops just about every time I'm in the drugstore now. I just can't wrap my head around how fast it all went up.
Mario looks heavy.
There’s absolutely no way
I’d ever pay $18 for a drugstore makeup product.
Sadly that eliminates at least half the drugstore brands now :(
Laugh vendor 🤣
😂 I about died when I saw it written online. On the label the two words are on two different lines and I didn't make the connection! 😂
I see the "shimmer" in the Mario. I would guess it has mica in it. Yep, just checked it. It does have mica (but low in the list). That would be the "light reflective" you are seeing. I'm more of a matte/satin girl. I don’t like mica!
