It's meant for stuff like youtube ads. It's a way to try to capture your interest, so you wont skip it. It last just long enough so by the time you can skip the ad, you'll have seen the whole stinger, and hopefully watch the full ad trailer.

The ship is well capable of diving in those conditions although wave height is exaggerated in the film. The fault comes from the vessel's dynamic positioning when they lose control of the ship.
They shouldn't have been diving in those conditions, the boat has plenty of systems to keep its positioning but the weather was far too rough. Client pressure on the diving company to keep diving is a real big problem in the industry.
"How do you want to cut this trailer?" "Let's make sure every plot point is covered, I want the viewer to essentially watch the movie before it's even released."
I get really annoyed with people who say this yet can't back it up. You haven't seen the movie so how do you know how much they have fully given away? You don't.

I saw the real time footage of this years ago in a mini doc on RUclips. Absolutely astounding. I won’t ruin the ending but closest thing to a miracle I’ve ever witnessed.
Sony Pictures - puts out two amazing trailers that does its job in teasing the movie enough to garner interest Focus Features - puts out a trailer with a trailer for the trailer in the first 5 seconds and gives away the entire movie
Commercial divers will probably find a lot of inconsistencies in this film, but for the general public it can be a good thriller. I will certainly go see it when it comes out in Belgium.

@@topdeckdog which in real life never happens. The bellman sits their for 6 hours, adjusts the umbilical length in and out as instructed, scratches his balls and eats sandwiches. That is pretty much all that happens. The Supervisor on the vessel is the person that instructs the dive and speaks to the divers.
Whoever's brilliant idea of adding the "TRAILER STARTS NOW" on every trailers nowadays, can you also add "TRAILER ENDS NOW" at the end? Just so we would know when the trailer ends. Thanks in advance.
While that would certainly mirror the way those divers really talk, it would be awfully difficult to get an audience caught up in the drama of the moment when they can't stop giggling at the chipmunk voices.

This is what happens when your Captain is solely relying on Dynamic Positioning System of your ship. And its the Chief Engineer's job to keep the main and auxilliary engine going even on rough seas because without power, no matter how well designed your ship is, you have no power to maneuver and lessen the roll of the ship. And why are they in there if there is a storm coming. They shoul've have seen in even days before.
Made this story way too Hollywood for those of us who know, were there, and work this industry. Still, it will grab audiences and make a few quid (dollars).
