I'll be 100% honest: this album made me crave for a CBX version of Seven Days in Sunny June. And I have the idea that Chen, D.O., and Chanyeol would slaaaay Virtual Insanity. EXO and funk, EXO and garage, EXO and R&B, the superior genres.
Underrated album for sure. Gets overshadowed by Blooming Days. I really can’t decide which album of the two that I like best, they’re both just kind of perfect. My only complaint about Hey Mama is that it’s too fucking short lol. 5 songs isn’t enough, always has me craving for more funky bops after. Can’t wait for you to react to the next one though, especially Vroom Vroom!
Tbh chens voice is crazy versatile and it could fit almost every genre imo hes shown hes capable of ballad/rock/house/opera/pop/funk hes just an insanely well rounded, powerful vocalist.
cbx is hands down the best trio ever..it’s just crazy how they go sooo well together even chemistry wise they are sooo cute and fun together...the blooming days album is sooo amazing too,it was hands down the best kpop album of 2018

I don't know where but kyungsoo once said that he will prefer Collab with chen rather than with baek because his and baek tone/pitch(sorry I don't know the correct word😂) are similar while Chen has a high pitch. In their debut day many people used to mix up their voices. My favorite in this album are hey mama and rhythm after summer.
Baek really can sound like ksoo or umin sometimes but most of the time he sounds like ksoo. Like how we are so confused with who ended the universe song🤣
It is a great little album. EXO’s subunits are great. I hope when Xiumin gets back from military service, Chen comes out of wedded bliss and being a Dad bliss, and before Baek goes off to the military....these three make another album. Their voices are wonderful together.

The concerts for that album were so amazing and truthfully I wanted to go to those above any other, maybe even a full member EXO concert. All in all that entire era is legendary and I would die to experience it first hand and be able to attend the concerts

pretty sure the members weren’t too involved in the songwriting for cbx, jongdae’s the only one who’s shown a lot of interest in writing and i don’t think he did much here but still. they all over-achieved in the vocal and dance department for this unit so it makes up for it. also i can’t speak for everyone else but i tend to forget how good this album is bc i get so caught up in how good blooming days is. it’s a solid album for sure, the melodies are super strong, the instrumentation is really complex and traditional, which is great too. so if you were blown away by this one, just brace yourself. the next album’s a lot more cohesive and balanced, but also more experimental than the first one. still really retro though

I think part of the reason they formed CBX is because they're the closest three in EXO so they just really wanted to work together (chen and xiumin especially, baekhyun is close with everyone ofc haha). Both their albums are *chefs kiss* but Blooming Days is just something else
As i can remember, it's their vocal teacher suggested to have them 3 in a subunit cos they are well familiar with each other's style so it would work if they'd be in one team.
Cbx has a funky side of songs and the moment they had the magical circus tour that funky songs of them really shined cos they got their own live band in the tour. It's sooooo good. Cbx also fulfilled my wish to see exo in concerts with Live bands.
I've always thought you'd love both of CBX's Korean mini-albums, but not sure how much of that I've commented about, so I guess I am a snake. I don't know what my favorite song on this album is. I go between all of them, really. And it's just such a fun album! I actually think I like it better than Blooming Days, but maybe that's because I listened to Blooming Days a lot more at first and this one has stayed more consistent over time, if you get what I mean.

Honestly slept on so much. But theres a reason why CBX is loved so much, not just by EXO-L too. Their songs just fit them so much and works so well.
