I have to admit I did not expect his answer to completely change my thoughts on his not letting backups know they will be getting minutes. I can totally see how it would mess with your preparation and the consistency of it. He's a bit of an odd guy but I like it and it sure seems to be effective...

If you're always ready, then you'll perform well. If you perform well, then you'll see minutes. Joe sees the bench as weapons for different situations, not as fodder to rest the starters.

Coach Joe Mazzulla we need MANAGE our starter in MINUTES, if our TEAM lead 20+ points and 3+ minutes in 4th quarter give our BENCH time to PROVE their TALENT and improve their GAME

Either JT or JB must stay in the game to anchor the bench unit as our bench players tend to be specialists, not shot creators. Besides, a 20 point lead is nothing in today's NBA.

Who is a crafty, skilled and good finisher in closing minutes for Celtics…..I don’t see JB nor JT being one ?

I really like Joe Mazzulla. I hope the Celtics don’t randomly fire him like idiots if we don’t win a championship. If we stick with him we will win many. Extend him. If he just signed an extension sign him to another one.

The Celtics do right by their people. So many people called for Joe's head when he replaced Ime and now they all look like fools.

@@mikotagayuna8494Ime was more defense and on offense; he relied on player talent to win and never developed any of the young guys or just did the bench during his time there, but playing drop coverage on Steph Curry was stupid.

Relax. Gary presses and challenges Joe but if you watch him and Sherrod talk you know it’s all love from him. He’s just doing his job and getting good audio from Joe. The two respect each other

@ I disagree. It’s not uncommon for beat writers and reporters to ask questions preceded by a relatively lengthy lead-up to set up nuanced context. Imo it’d make a boring press conference if all the questions were short softballs.
