@@certifiedcurls Trust me you're doing a lot better than you think. I mean I liked how you started the video with Mom duties. That's real and that in itself is tough. Then you add in managing projects, expectations from work, studying, and you're still finding the time to do RUclips. Go easy on yourself.
I can relate. I think we fall into this trap of always wanting more, hustling more, and honestly, if we made 500k, we’d be trynna figure out how to get to 1 mill lol. It’s hard to be content with the present but I think it’s so important to find that peace.
I love this channel so so much as a young mom in IT I feel seen. I think there is a space in tech for both types of people, the hustle culture people who wanna go to the top and those just happy their bills are paid. The industry really needs a combo of both types. Currently procrastinating my certifications too so this video feels targeted but ik we’re all gonna study and pass and feel so proud once we do!!
"I am the furthest from that type of person" EXTREMELY LOUD INCORRECT BUZZER You're reaping the rewards of the hard work you've put in already. And you're busting ass every day with WFH and being a mom
Do not be too hard on yourselves. We learn on the job all the time. I took SQL and dev classes in school but did not really grasp these concepts or skill up in these areas until I started working in teams that leverage them in production environments. Labs, tests, and certs are good and all but I would rather have the fire-based baptisms that industry experience provides and I think most hiring managers do to.
Hey what's good Lise!!! Great 2 C U! I love your tee shirt! Thank U 4 being transparent with us once again! I always take some valuable info away from your videos for sure! Yeah, I've taken a break from getting certs and focusing on labs and projects to keep my skills sharp. The main thing is what U said, that hustle culture is a beast and I'm so happy that you're in a place where U can be present and chill. Keeps the blood pressure low You ain't got to prove anything to no one. Move at YOUR pace and play the corporate I.T. game accordingly. You're super smart and hella wise and run a beautiful family...Damn all the rest....But get that cert cause its free and will take u to another level where God needs you! You be easy, safe & blessed. Peace & Blessings🙏🏽
Just finished undergrad myself and now I’m studying for the security+ exam. Plan to sit for it in January. Would totally join a “study with me” sesh with ya!
Same I would join too! I just passed the PCNSE after uhh…. more than a few failed attempts but now I’m studying how to use the PAN-OS Python SDK and XML API and its kicking my butt. Im familiar with python but new to API’s it can be demoralizing spending hours tshoot one or two lines of code.
Haha I felt that limbo before when I achieved my dream job as network engineer, I just have CCNA under my belt for almost 4 years, just renewing it with CEs, now in my new company, to much lean time that out of boredom I shoot for the ENCOR(which took 10 months). Next year I will try ENARSI, if I am bored again.
I got accepted to a school in Japan, so I'll be taking a break from the U.S, the DoD, and IT for a while. Career wise it makes sense for me to major in something IT related, but I'm rapidly losing interest in progressing in this field. I'm still gonna to keep my Security+ up to date just in case I have to come crawling back. 😂
I think if you have to force it, it ain't meant to be. And that's okay! It could be only be temporary. But there's nothing wrong with allowing yourself to enjoy the fruits of the labor you've already done. Focus on the enjoyment and peace for now, and you'll realize later what your next step is.
Hustle hustle hustle when does it end? Life is short, enjoy the moment. Nothing wrong with being comfortable once you reach a level. Master your skill set , specialize ? and hopefully you can find a reasonable balance. All the best.
Saying you want to be marketable is generally vague . To be a motivated is to work backwards . By that I mean have a single goal that you have an intense desire for and figure out the routines and smaller goals to kill it . When you were getting out of those bad situations earlier in your life , you made "hustles" or smaller steps that allowed you to exit that environment. It is in you, just find your specific reason to do it . Your mind will be in growth survival mode at that point, sounds like you have been there before . Good luck.
Hi, I've went through this same process. I think you need a "Just Cause" or a reason to push towards these things. Why do you do what you do. I feel you've reached burnout for this reason. Pure drive can only get you so far , you need a reason to keep going.
If you don't mind me asking. What did you major in in college? And what all certs do you have? I'm asking because I'm getting my CCNA and I'm wondering Which road map I need to take. The ccna is my first certification. With no IT background
It's because you have ADHD. I have it as well. When you find yourself starting projects, understanding the info but don't have the interest anymore. That's ADHD.
I really can't be the only one that feels this way? right lmao BTW THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH FOR 10K SUBSCRIBERS!!!!!!!

Major in Computer information Systems. I only have 2 active certs at the moment. Security+ and PCNSA. A few older certs as well
