  • Here is a video of our visit to mount Uhud is Medina.
The Battle of Uhud was a battle that took place on 23 March 625 CE (3 Shawwal 3 AH in the Islamic calendar) between the Muslims and the Meccans. The battle was fought on the slopes of Mount Uhud, located in the north of Medina, in what is now Saudi Arabia.
The battle was a result of the growing tension between the Muslims and the Meccans, who were opposed to the spread of Islam. The Meccans, led by Abu Sufyan, attacked the Muslims in Medina in an attempt to crush the growing power of Islam. The Muslims, led by Prophet Muhammad, had a smaller army and were initially successful in repelling the Meccans.
However, due to a tactical error by some of the Muslim archers, the Meccans were able to regroup and launch a surprise attack on the Muslim rear. This caused confusion and disarray in the Muslim ranks, and the Meccans were able to gain the upper hand. Despite heavy losses on both sides, the Muslims were eventually forced to retreat.
The battle had a significant impact on the early history of Islam. It was a painful lesson for the Muslims, who realized the importance of discipline and unity in battle. The battle also led to the death of many of the Prophet's companions, including his uncle Hamza, who was a great warrior and a close friend of the Prophet. Despite the loss, the Muslims were able to regroup and continue their mission of spreading Islam.
