Why do the players always go into to dink mode? Has any player(s) just played from the baseline and blasted groundstrokes (akin to more of a stingles style)?
@@mrbobevans Because they're trying to get their opponent to hit the ball "just" too high where they can deliver a good attack. Most of those dinks they're hitting are unattackable (and by that I mean, they'd either hit it into the net or long), hitting up on the ball will almost always lead to a bad attack, loss of the rally, or a pickleball smashed back at your face. If they just blasted it from the baseline, someone could go up to the kitchen and either drop a ball in the opponent's kitchen that they couldn't get in-time, or hit an angled shot that would also be impossible for their opponents to get. It all comes down to strategy. Go check out Joe Baker's pickleball strategy videos, they're actually very informative and will help your game a ton.

@@Benji.Bennett Do you know what an ATP and Erne is? Erne is a shot name after a person that invented the shot of jumping over the non volley zone to hit the ball. An ATP is an around the post shot. That is hitting the ball when it is very wide and hitting it around the net post.
Well, she’s not entirely wrong. If she said that an ATP is also known as an Erne then that would be correct. All an Erne is is stepping to the outside of the kitchen to hit the ball - exactly what you do for an ATP. You could consider an ATP a type of Erne, (that would make more sense rather than saying they’re completely different things). Although you wouldn’t call it an Erne if it wasn’t a volley... I wouldn’t consider them the same thing. What she said wasn’t correct.
@@matthew-l1e8m You don't know either. There are two kind of Erne shots. The majority of them are when someone jumps and hits the ball in the air when you are also jumping over the kitchen. This is nowhere near an ATP. The more rare Erne type is usually done by older people or women and it involves walking through or around the kitchen and hitting the ball while standing on the side of the kitchen. It is also not close to around the post.
If it wasn’t obvious enough how little these pros care about their serves. A lot of them are foot faults. Not because they stepped on the court, but because of the fact that both feet need to be on the ground at the point of contact. For some reason they keep on lifting a leg mid swing. I picked up on two clear ones in a row.
Question: at 13:13, Kovalova clearly volleys a ball that's in the kitchen. The way the rules were explained to me, it's never legal to volley a ball in the kitchen, or is it ok as long as your feet are not in the kitchen? Thanks...
Am I confused or am I missing something...? at 3-1-1 Kile served from the right ( seems ok to me) then Simone served also from the right at 3-1-2 ( I think she should have served from the left) Somebody can help me on that one?
Hi Dean thanks for watching. Actually Simone is serving cross court. She is just serving close to the center line and immediately shifts over because they are stacking. The camera angle makes it hard to tell. Enjoy and keep on playing!

Some people use it for either low-to-the-net drives or for topspin off the backhand. For me though, someone who plays with a table tennis grip, I've never used it. With that said though, I absolutely see why people use it in the sport and I've faced some opponents with deadly two-handed backhands.
