Most of the people on the trail cameras are there to eradicate the invasive pig problem in South Carolina which do incredible damage to wildlife by eating reptiles and amphibian, birds and their eggs.
You should! The National Forest is full of wildlife! We used to play Camden Military Academy when I was in high school. I'm glad that you enjoy the videos!
Cool name for a swamp. Great job on the music/visuals edit. Never heard of the python lock for the game cam. Someone could smash it still though, right? Great spots for the cameras. Those stinking hogs are everywhere. Love that bobcat on the log. You get bonus pts for folding the map back up in one go.
Ideally, you would have a steel box for the camera, then the pad lock for it, then the python cable (bike lock cable) through the bear box...that would prevent smash smash throughs. I'm too optimistic/cheap of a person to go all in on that type of stuff. I got wary when some herper (crotalus creighton) stole my SD card with otters on it...then I bought locks and locked them up. Ugh those hogs! None of those folks with weap-ons left with a single hog.
@@rat_dragon I had said my name and email on the first recorded video and he sent me an email...then he said he would send it back...but never did. It was dang 32GB... $12, plus otters and bobcats and who knows what else...
Great stuff. I didn't expect the beautiful black bear family. Lovely variety of animals. Is the area infested with mosquitoes? Felt terribly sorry for that poor malnourished dog.
Thank-you! I am always surprised at what randomly shows up on the cameras... a lot of people for a deep swamp. The mosquitoes won't be bad until it gets a little warmer. They are just now starting to come out full time.
Very cool, Frank! Seems to me, more wild predators are need to take out the hogs when they’re young - before they’re too big for bobcats and coyotes. Hogs are a serious problem. What do you think?
@@OchoVerde I don’t think the bobcats would mind a piglet dinner. They can grab one and be up a tree fast. Those hogs are awful! My uncle hunted them in Mississippi when he was younger.
@0:27 That poor dog looks like he is either starving, or maybe he's got worms. All his ribs are showing and he isn't even walking right. 🥺💔🙏🏼 That just makes me angry. If you can go hunting, you can feed your dog! (I assume it was the hunters' dog.)
You are right. It is likely a deer hound that has been separated from its owner for a while. That clip was, I believe, a month or so after deer season ended...so it may have been wandering out there for a few weeks. They are trained to come to roads and often get picked back up before the hunter leaves. Many are radio tracked. The guys with the pit bulls were after the invasive hogs.
@@OchoVerde thank you for your explanation. It gives me hope that by now he's in better shape. BTW, Y'all sure DO have some hogs down south! I hope you guys butcher those bad boys, be a shame to waste all that meat.
@@GuantanamoBayBarbie2 you are certainly welcome...I hope so too. Some people love the hogs for food and some hate them...in fact day before yesterday, we saw one that had been shot and left for the vultures. 🤷♂️
@@OchoVerde that's too bad. It'd feed a lot of people at the local food bank. But by next year food may be so scarce that they start hunting them because they're hungry. If not next year, for sure the year after.
I cannot remember off the top of my head… it been almost 2 years. There was a locked gate. I’m in Costa Rica now, but heading home in 48 hours. I’ll try to remember to look it up on the gps in the car. If you don’t hear back from me by Saturday, drop another comment to remind me and I’ll get it for you asap.
No. There are feral/ escaped pigs that are what you see in this video, but no European boars. These feral pigs are what is causing so much damage to the natural resources across the South.

"Hell Hole"? Wasn't that a women in prison movie? Do you hide your bottle of tequila in the leg of one of those boots? Wouldn't it be something if the cat's name was actually "Bob"?

Awesome video and some great wildlife image captures. Congratulations!!

@@OchoVerde were those black "cubs" bears or hog babies? I thought they were bear cubs at first, but then they walked more like piggies.

There are no more cougars there to eat feral hogs... but maybe the coyotes could help control the baby piglets. Otherwise, it is up to people.
