One of the most spiritual songs EVER, sung by the perfect Judy Collins, who is still one of the best singers on the planet!
Judy was and is one of the best singers ever. She and Joni Mitchell had 2 of the purist voices in the 70s.
This version hits me so much and the history of it is overwelming
And she's still killing the high notes now in her 80s
Thank you for saying this! I had no idea she has a new album out and got nominated for a Grammy!
One of the most amazing versions of amazing grace ever
Judy had a song written about and for her by Stephen Stills called Suite Judy Blue Eyes. Now you know why someone would love her so.
This Christian hymn was written in 1772 by Englishman and seafarer John Newton, who early in his life was a slaver involved in the Atlantic slave trade. After almost losing his life in a bad storm at sea, and calling out to God for mercy, he quit the slave trade and became a noted poet, clergyman and abolitionist. This song was based on his
The song was the last one on Judy Collins' album "Whales and Nightingales." My grandparents bought the album shortly after my mother's passing back in 1973. My grandfather said that this was the best version of "Amazing Grace" that he's ever heard. A couple years ago, I came across the song on RUclips and played it for my sister. It brought back so many memories. My sister recently passed away and I used the song to make a memorial video for her. Thanks for sharing!
I bawl every time I hear this song. Judy's version makes me bawl even harder.
Im in tears. So beautiful
I imagine the music of Heaven must sound like this.
this is beautiful
Another Judy Collins classic is her version of Send In The Clowns from the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Light Music.
The best descriptor I've heard of Judy Collins's voice is "silvery."
Please tell me I'm not the only one who had at least 1 tear
If you like Judy Collins check out her album "Flowers." It is a truly beautiful play from beginning to end.
This song literally makes me cry 🥺
recollection of his religious conversation at sea.
