If you’re thinking about not having a panel, I think you should have some kind of interactive site with initially just the map, maybe more information on the tournament? It’ll be a bitch to keep up to date, but at the end of the day it’s a good 2ndary way to keep up with the tournament. I usually keep a tab open with liquipedia as I watch games, but it would be too simple for something so convoluted.
You are 100% right about showing up to the stream just to watch the "map/effect" of the day. I feel like those special modifiers alone are enough to catch my interest, hope they work out well with the format!
Can't wait for this! Also, speaking of talent, xQc and Forsen are both big names and they have played/play Dota off stream, if you could get them that'd be absolutely insane for the community.
Lost Weight! Good MAN! hells yes!. Good to see your content! You are looking like an Org owner. I used to own iC before I sold it. So incredible to see your work. Super happy and excited to see what else you make. Thank you; you Deserve it.
A lot of great ideas going on here, especially with your ideas on getting support from investors. The vetting for the teams i believe should be of an attrition nature. Mini-Tourney to establish placements. Granting you time to further use it's publicity to find more inclined investors; this results in a competition for investment, thus making your position more profitable by having multiple investors compete.for that very position.
Biggest issue I see for a big audience is making it digestible/simple enough to enjoy. Most of us here are interested in the nitty gritty, and would love to see all of these mechanics at play, but it is important to choose a core principle that can be explained in just a sentence or two that will let new viewers know what they are actually watching
What about setting up the tournament where the group stage has a hidden score where certain lore important rivalries/friendships add or subtract from the total and only banner Lords know this but the supporters have to vote and choose where the bannerlords fight next?
10:23 I would definitely not go for money. The issue is, people might be invested in their team winning because of money but I feel like sports fans and people who bet on teams are not necessarily the same group (Although there is overlap for sure). I feel like what people like most is to become somewhat "legendary" as in inshrined in the game (see Pro-Player Voicelines). Maybe you start having visible places on map with all the names of the house for future years? I feel like once you affect a game irl for longer than just a match is really powerful
You are 100% correct about chat/voters getting mad at each other. That's exactly how it works in other voting-based narrative games on forums and sites.
Idea 1: When a house is conquered, instead of being destroyed they become vassals of the house that conquered them. The conquering house would then receive tributes from their vassals and would be able to use their special abilities. The vassal houses would receive a portion of the prize pool based on their contributions. Idea 2: Since this is a banner lords style event, it might be cool to make the tournament more in line with the Mount and Blade games. For example, instead of drafting mercenaries for a specific match, the banner lords raise mercenary forces to attack and defend. Banner lords could then choose which of their neighbors to attack with or without knowing how strong the defending force is. Another thing that could be added would be each region could have its own economy and unique trade goods. "Weaker" banner lords would start out in regions with better economies, but they would be a bigger target.
So Slacks. I love all the ideas to make the games fun ton play and watch. I like that idea of a sort of handicap system where non pros will have some sort of buff to balance out their lack of skill. My thought is buffs for the team, and some buffs could be aoe passive, so great passive buff. But the pros would need to keep the non pro alive.
suggestion for a 'boon' or 'ability' - a twitlonger appears and covers 70% of the player's screen. it only disappears when the player finishes reading out the whole twitlonger.
Honestly, in an era of working from home, having a car company (Mercedes) and a movable WiFi company (starlink) as sponsors could be pretty good for both parties
Add bonuses to some of the map "tiles." Whoever is the current owner will get the benefit. Could be as simple as +1 gpm in game for your players because the map tile has a gold mine for example. Or you get a discount on all sword items, because the map tile has famous swordsmiths. Or all boots give +5 extra ms because the tile has famous shoemakers. Or could be something absolutely crazy like the tile has a sacrificial pit - you sacrifice one of your players and play 4v5 but your creeps have bonus armour/hp/dmg or the creeps give 0 gold when killed or something. You get the idea. It will incentivise backstabbing because people will want to grab control of the tiles I think. These tiles could be captured via some fun minigame which represents a bannerlords army moving on the map, but if the owner bannerlord's army is nearby then they get to play a proper bo3 game. Or something along those lines.
Could you have a winning house commission a cosmetic and then give it away to members? Theres no scaling cost and it would be unique or would Valve not go for that (we used to have skins from tornements and teams didn't we?)
Another thing I'd love to see is more story building around pro players/mercenaries. People love watching pro players, and with the DPC/covid post-BTS era there have been less on-camera candid presense of players. Something that builds story lines, memes, that is positive, and funny... for rank 1 watson, big mouth quinn, friendly fishman, ammar the furry..
I'm almost certain they'll say no, but as a serial twitch dad watcher, Sips and Northernlion could be added to the list. The Yogscast have done quite a bit of dota content, as well (Daf, Joe, Pyrion himself).
As an idea when a bannerlord is 'defeated' could then become a prisoner of the bannerlord that defeated them? Maybe they could be used in one series/game as a mercenary but only for the bannerlord that defeated them!
Idea: Each Member of the house that wins the tournament gets a personalized video from their house leader (kind of like a cameo.) The leader of the house could review their dota profile page for example. The only info you need is the player's steam ID Pros: -Fans get a special messages from a personality they care about -Zero cost other than maybe paying the leader for their time -easy hilarious content for a streamer if they record the cameo's live on stream -Utilizes the new dota profile customizing feature Obviously things get tricky if Gorg wins and has 30k reviews to do, but at the same time thats easy stream content that could be broken out over a few months
If you want to reach out outside the niche competitive dota community, you can have aspects related to the anime. What if there is a Marci-inspired buff that mutes a player's microphone, but increases damage output or attack speed, similar to how Marci is a pretty strong fighter but cant talk? It could even be its own power rune or replace the DD rune as well. Also if you want some content creators that are vaguely dota-adjecent, i could recommend the EU4/HOI4 content creators tommykay and absolutehabibi. I think they both play dota off-stream and are like archon-ancient, and have a history of organizing tournaments of paradox games and such. Also I think it would be really funny if there was a sort of "magnet" debuff or buff that makes spells like sacred arrow, meat hook, hookshot to very faintly home in on an enemy, which maybe a team could choose which player it would affect at the start of the game. The strength of this effect could increase with how much of your money you put in it
In game of thrones theme there needs to be a must of collaboration and backstabbing. Purge needs to be able to help gorc in matches he’s not in like donating gold from purges next game to gorcs current one in exchange for gorc banning an extra hero for purge that he doesn’t want to face… only for gorc to ban Purges main!
You should have a tiered price to contribute to prizepool. But that is for entry. Each day the payed viewers can switch their support for that day. This would be good for teams eliminated and if someone isn't doing well, fans might start to ditch, causing drama.
Oh my god, for something like House Purge I have an idea, weather its broken or funny or not who cares just thought it would be very charistic of him. Once per place, or battle or whatever rarity you want, The team can call for a PURGE ANALYSIS, Pausing the match and allowing purge to speak through the game into everyones ears, He will be able to say stuff like Ok so as you can see over here on the dire side high ground, there is a ward which gives vision for these types of fights and battles, while I can also see sniper is going for a blink dagger or hurricane pike on his quick buy menu. Idk something like that in a purge tone and voice
@SirActionsSlacks look at boardgame companys like wizard of the cost. they are stacked because people like me pay the nerd tax on way to many products they bring out
Could do a raffle for the winners, buy different items with the prize money for multiple giveaways for the winners team. E.g. an expensive dota 2 item, signed dota legend pictures/pop vinyl. Tickets to TI and meet and greet etc. If you can't find a way to send money direct to the fans, this might be another fun way to do stuff for the fans.
Although it sounds like a good idea, it sounds a lot like betting. And gambling comes with A LOT of regulations. For example something as innocent as Twitch points gambling is not allowed in a lot of regions.
Maybe this comment gets buried somewhere or you don't see this ... But I have always liked the asa Butterfield interactions related to dota in case you can possibly bring him on !!
I think rewarding the viewers in such direct fashion will just cause too much trouble to work around. The idea of bannerlords absorbing ones that fall is good to keep viewers watching though. Its just giving viewers some kind of monetary incentive will get messy. Id prove the tournament concept first. Make that engaging enough and it will succeed.
bannerlords get to play? or will they cast their own games together from oposing teams? also, please get Magnus Carlsen or Ian Nepomniachtchi, both absolute god tiers at chess who also play (played?) dota
Dendi's house sounds fun😂
Our media guys from b8 dropped you an email, they'd rly love to help with MM3
putting a limit on how much people can spend is a great way to keep emotions at bay
I've been re-watching all of the Midas Mode 2 games in anticipation for this!
This sounds super fun. I'm down for this. Always daydreamed about what a game would be like with friendly fire on, even passives, splash, etc.

I really love these weekly updates, it shows us the huge amount of effort and thinking you put in these tournament :D

I think the ideal reward would be some sort of in0game set for relative character... But it requires communication from Valve, which is tricky part :D

hold up, its been 5 years since midas mode 2!? That's actually crazy to me. Can't wait for the third
Teams that lose can band together to survive but have permanent "scars" from their defeats.

I hope slacks reaches out to the yogscast guys I know they all love dota and pflax is a part of their community. maybe they could be their own house
Yogs is an awesome idea for this

I want dendi to have it so every member of his team has lvl 1 hook the entire game
People that die should come back as ghosts the Couse trouble to the army that killed him
Sunsfan bannerlord ability: "Clusterfuck"
Spawn every hero in an arena at the middle of the map. Turn friendly fire on.
I'm almost certain they'll say no, but as a serial twitch dad watcher, Sips and Northernlion could be added to the list. The Yogscast have done quite a bit of dota content, as well (Daf, Joe, Pyrion himself).

Asa Butterfield is/used to be a fan of Dota. Would be a crazy crossover if he was interested
Will this be in Colorado again?

This is going to be sweet
this is the new ti
Dougdoug plays dota and his whole thing is making fun different challenges for games.
PPD has a similar model he’s running right now. You should talk to him.

Something like that to really give the lords a the feeling of Power
@SirActionsSlacks look at boardgame companys like wizard of the cost. they are stacked because people like me pay the nerd tax on way to many products they bring out
If your list has people that never played dota, hit me up i'll train them up to be ready! Especially if they are used to League!
Yes, yes, yes!
The final should be a 10x10 in the capital map
I get it you want it to play as if it was a wrestling event with a story-line, intrigue, drama, and keyfabe, but on Dota
i def want a pug pic lmao

bannerlords get to play? or will they cast their own games together from oposing teams? also, please get Magnus Carlsen or Ian Nepomniachtchi, both absolute god tiers at chess who also play (played?) dota
xqc loves dota and he thinks he is good (he is not) , and he loves money. it would just be hard to reach out to him.
Yeah but then XQC would be playing, what's the upside? Is this a punishment?
I think dota people hate vtubers but Fauna just did a dota collab if you're still lookin for more tangential mfers.
360p gang
trainwrecks and xqc enjoy dota
Forsen xqc dota tournament lulw
wow only 360p and not even 144p available
@SirActionSlacks if you want more exposure make fauna hololive vtuber as a bannerlord sir she got 14k viewer average playing dota today
