1 hr practicing this for two days and I have already gotten this down for the most part. Wonderful lesson. Have you considered having an editor add in the chords charted out as you play? I think this would help many students.
you’re a very good teacher, my friend. i feel like my playing and understanding of what it is that i am playing has improved significantly since i started watching your videos! thanks man!
One of the greats - Barney Kessell ! I have more than a few LP's of his. Saw him Live in Wash DC w/ Herb Ellis back in the late 60's - One of my guitar heros. I am a guitarist and have studied some of the greats- - Wes, Barney, Joe Pass and many more. Thanks for covering this and keeping the music alive. !!
Thanks Chris , another gem. Your Patreon page is the best. Barney Kessel was like an Orchestra on the guitar when he played with Julie London. I wasn’t aware of his work with Billie Holiday. Thanks for the history and the great lesson.
This is a very good lesson: transcription, just big enough a chunk for me to digest, with applied theory, chord and scale examples, all in 10min. Perfect format, thank you! Could you please do the rest of the song as well, with the important piano parts?
Great work! At around 9:00 you mentioned the Eb7 being built on the diminished scale. Is that another way of thinking about it along with it being built on the fifth degree of the major scale?
Hi! Thanks for the lesson! .. is there a way to buy a lesson or pdf transcript of the whole song? Happy easter and Have a good day! Kind regards from Austria
Hey Chris! I've really been digging your lessons lately, especially the ones on intros. Thanks for turning me on to this great Barney Kessel intro. Btw I took a listen to the original recording, and I think that on the F7 Barney goes 8x789x to 8x777x (not 8x787x).
Hey, I am a big fan of your playing and I'm learning a lot from your videos, thanks! What are your Top 5 Jazz albums which inspire you the most or had the most impact on you? :)
Without seeing your hands while making the chord, I can't really offer any advice. I would suggest adjusting the angles of your shoulder, elbow, and wrist to find the angles that will allow to play the chord without any discomfort. Adjust your angles to avoid wrist compression.
You definitely have the gift Of teaching. You make difficult things look so easy
Thank you Alfie
Chris, this is a great lesson, with clear, straightforward explanations. So thanks!
Thank you Edward!

ES-175 with a single P-90? Also, which amp?
1959 ES125T and Vintage 47's take on Gibson's classic EH185 amp
I met Barney in a small club many years ago
Where can I acquire the tabs for the rest?
there aren't any additional tabs
Hii! For the Ab maj 7, do you have any tips on how my fingers can reach the top stings when i try to play that chord it hurts my wrist and fingers

YES!
What guitar is that?
1953 Gibson ES-175
Wonderful video. I really appriciate you not naming fret numbers. It makes you think what to play instead of just following instructions.
Thank you Gustav!
