Would this be too much for a indoor 170 gallon tank . I wanna find something that can run threw the outtake line of a fx4 wich is 750 gph . This one seems perfect
Hello- to match the flow rate of your 750 GPH pump look at the Tetra green Free 9w UV filter www.thepondguy.com/product/tetrapond-greenfree-ultraviolet-clarifiers/
I have a fluval fx6 canister filter it says gph are about 600 would this work for a canister filter for indoor 200 gallon fish tank please let me no what model if any you would suggest
Mark - How long has this unit been in place? When was the last time the UV bulb was changed? While it may be lit, UV bulbs have a lifespan and should be changed once a year.
Hello David - If the flow rate is not strong enough, the UV clarifier will act as a sterilizer and affect everything, including beneficial bacteria, in the pond. The unit can burn up if it runs dry, with no water flow.
Hello - Unfortunately, 4,000 GPH is to large for this UV clarifier. Please contact us at (866)766-3435 and we can help you find the best UV clarifier for your application.
@@thepondguy Ok thank you for your fast reply One more question before going out and get one of this Does it matter how many gallons per hour pump i need to use with this uv filter
Hi Connor - Burying the hoses helps you to keep them out of sight. You can simply run the hoses into the pond, just be sure to avoid placing the PowerUV in a location where it is prone to water puddles or falling into the pond.
Hi Jason - This will depend on the pump size. You will want to make sure the pump you’re using does not exceed the maximum flow rate of the UV clarifier.
So it can just go back into your biological filter or back into the pond? So where is the algae going to be filtered out? You need mechanical filtration to also catch the clumps of algae, so just putting it straight back into the pond would defeat the object of having a UV, same as just throwing it over your bio filter media
Hello - Yes, you can run the discharge back into the pond. A UV clarifier helps to control planktonic algae and will not create large clumps of dead algae.
Excellent video explaining
Please help. I just bought a ultrauv 36. The inlet and outlet too small for my 1- 1/2 flexible pvc. What can i do to get them fit.

Hello - The PowerUV cannot be added to a canister filter but can be used in-line with one if it doesn't already have a UV clarifier.
How to determine which side is intake and output. I’m using it till my newer pump gets fixed and I don’t remember which is which.
The inlet is closest to the ballast!
Hi. Ballast means to supply current?

if u have a uv wit 2 outlets and 1 inlets could u use two 2 outlets as inlets and the inlet as a outlet so run the water in reverse?
You will want to use the inlet and outlets properly to ensure the UV clarifier works effectively.
I have this connected to my saltwater tank and my water is still green. I checked and the bulb is on.

@@thepondguy it’s a new unit. Only been in use for two-3 months.

so how do i hard plumb it, without using the barb fitting.. why do you guys succk at telling people this.
Will the UV bulb burn out if not enough water flow through ( water pump fail) ?

i have a older uv jebao ip44 it has a large rear end but need to change bulb unable to remove end please help
Hi Jacqueline - Unfortunately, we do not carry Jebao units. We recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for assistance.
@@thepondguy thank you i have had no luck so far so bought another brand
Once plugged into mains, then flick the mains switch should the pump start?
Hello Robert - There is no need to turn off your main power. The pump and UV clarifier can be plugged directly into a grounded outlet.
The Pond Guy many thanks, just to clarify. Once the pump is is connected to the mains, it should start and I can hear the pump running.
@@robertedwards3743 That is correct!
The Pond Guy many thanks for your quick response. All the best
i have a 3200 gph pump on this unit is that to high and if so what size pump should i have.
Hello Stacey - What is the wattage of your unit? Each wattage has a different maximum flow rate.
Is there a 12 volt version?
This is only available in 115 volts.
Do you know of any that are 12 volt?
@@LoveTheLand unfortunately, we do not. We recommend doing an online search.

So the pond clarifier takes the water from the pond and through the machine and push it back?
Hello - A pump pushes the water through the UV clarifier and then back into the pond.
Can i turn it off and just let the water run through it any time
(When the water is clear again)
Hello Michael - This can damage the unit. We recommend leaving the unit running with the pump.

One more question before going out and get one of this
Does it matter how many gallons per hour pump i need to use with this uv filter
@@michaeldev5962 Each UV clarifier has a maximum gallon per hour flow rating. You will not want to exceed that rating.

300 to 800 gph uv filter is what im using
I paired jt with my 300gph pump
@@michaeldev5962 If the flow rates match, which it sounds like they do, then you are all set to install!
Can you use it in the winter?
Hi Curtis - The Pond Guy PowerUV Clarifier needs to be removed during the winter, as the freezing temperatures will damage this unit.
@@thepondguy its 3 feet under the waterfall. No freezing
Do you have to bury the hoses in the ground or can you have your hoses go straight into the pond?
Hi Connor - Burying the hoses helps you to keep them out of sight. You can simply run the hoses into the pond, just be sure to avoid placing the PowerUV in a location where it is prone to water puddles or falling into the pond.
Can I just add this in line from the return hose already pumping to my waterfall or do I need a separate pump?
Hi Jason - This will depend on the pump size. You will want to make sure the pump you’re using does not exceed the maximum flow rate of the UV clarifier.

i should add it is 9watts
Does flow rate counts with uv efficiency if the flow rate fast will the uv work less efficient?
Hi Khizar - That is correct. If the flow rate is too fast the UV clarifier will not have the opportunity to work properly.
Do you ship this product internationally?
At this time we only ship within the United States.
@@thepondguy if it’s coming in to fast and I fix the flow will it start working again?
@@kimwilliams6998 yes, if you have the proper flow rate passing through the UV clarifier, the UV will work properly.
