  • Scenes from MUNI's extensive trolleybus system at various points in San Francisco. The system is the 2nd most extensive in the America's after the larger Mexico City system.
San Francisco's steep hills are a key factor in the system's survival compared with so many other systems closed in favour of diesel only systems from the 1950's onwards.
The current fleet of vehicles, all built by New Flyer Industries of Winnipeg Manitoba, are true hybrid vehicles unlike those which use a hybrid engine using diesel fuel. Route extensions beyond the overhead wiring are possible, such as Route 30 depicted in this video to the San Francisco Bay waterfront.

I love the part at 22:40 when the bus says "Go Warriors!"

I am currently growing up in Seattle Washington. I have seen trolley buses all the time. Sad to learn that they are a rare sight as only 4 other cities(boston leaving) have trolleybus systems in the US.

Next time, add a shot of the 33 doing its 180-degree turn at Clayton and Market.

Not everyone knows the system in that level of detail. It's a great spot tho I agree.
