  • The Astoria-Megler Bridge spans the mouth of the Columbia River at Astoria, OR. Built in 1966 and with an overall length of 4.1 miles, its the longest/largest bridge on the US 101 Coastal Highway and is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.

    At first, it seems to be high up. Looks like a foggy day. If it is foggy enough, you probably won't be able to see land.

    I'm use to driving high mountain roads but the first time crossing an ocean bridge here had me alittle nervous on that incline

      We moved to Astoria when I was a kid, and my first time on that bridge was nervous for me too...bumping along in the back of dad's Jeep.

    Wasn't the Astoria-Megler Bridge the basis for the fictional Madison Bridge in Irwin Allen's "The Night the Bridge Fell Down"?
