The Parallel Between Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias & Cortana and The Weapon (Halo Infinite Lore)

- With the introduction of The Weapon, Master Chief's new AI in Halo Infinite, built to counter Cortana, a 100'000 year parallel has been created between these 2 present day AIs, and Offensive Bias and Mendicant Bias - the 2 most important Contender Class AIs during the Forerunner-Flood era of the galaxy...

#HaloInfiniteExplained #HaloInfiniteLore #Halo Игры
For those wondering, the picture I used for Offensive Bias is concept art from the Infinite art book that I'm 99.9% sure is what it's meant to look like. Fingers crossed we get to see OB in all its glory in a future campaign DLC :D
Fingers crossed for a dramatic entrance :D
Excellent video!
Also, I believe Cortana is alive.
Same. All the hints are there
Well I mean it WAS in the infinite art book, so that's kinda a near guarantee to me
Man I love Halo lore
Man, if only offensive bias had hidden terminals on the ring... That would have fixed a lot of my issues with the campaign.
That's kind of the point of this video; with the Endless about to breach containment, OB is probably primed to make a triumphant return.
The created and endless are fine. The flood are amazing. I hope halo can bring back our favorite galactic horror. I say give us a M rated dlc.
My theory is the flood will manipulate Both the endless and banished, with maybe even a primordial pulling strings
Honestly I'd rather they expanded on the severely un-fleshed-out Created and Endless rather than perpetually over-using the already very well-established Flood.
i was really disappointed that the campaign didnt include any
@jakespacepiratee3740 the flood has not been like the last several games...
I was always confused on both the origins of Mendicant bias and Offensive bias and how they came to be, thanks for clearing it all up
how are you everywhere bro?
I also think when you activate the second spire and the weapon says “something scanned me” - that something could be offensive bias, which would link in nicely with how something helps the Weapon in the final boss fight with the harbinger
The infinite campaign was just a massive prelude to what is coming up, I hope 343 can pull it off
Then what the hell was 4 and 5?
@@dotheevolution100 a mess of different storylines
@@Ho_Lee_Fook true, 4 and 5 are the worst.
Sike. Campaign cancelled.
@@OGdoorstop was it tho?
I see lot of potential for future infinite DLC. I just want snowy biomes lol
Hopefully if 343 don't put so much greed into this game
and deserts... and jungles... same ;_;
Shame beca the next level we were going to be playing was going to be a desert level
@@HiddenXperia Anything that isn't more grass and metal
I really want a foggy swamp biome with the flood, like 343 Guilty Spark from Halo CE
Man as sad as I am about the flip with Cortana, I'm glad they've at least taken it in a more interesting direction. Something I always loved about how the Halo 3 terminals presented Mendicant's turn is how it hinges on the view the the Forerunners presiding over the galaxy is creating stagnation and I'm really hoping we get those themes resurfacing maybe with how 343 handles the Endless. It would cool to see these AI that have outlived their creators reflect back on their actions and crimes kinda how we got Despondent Pyre ruminating on it in the Ring terminals. (also rip Despondent Pyre she was killed off too soon)
Hopefully Adjutant resolution can feature more in campaign dlcs
question, if there was a backup monitor for zeta halo then why wasn’t there for installation 08 after it got rebuilt in the ark
@@mult1versal zeta Halo is one of the original Halos and like every one has said before, this Halo is different than all others, because it imprisons the endless
@@mult1versal 343 guilty spark happened to be sent directly to the ark after installation 04 destruction. He was following procedure to have a safe functioning weapon to stop the flood without losing it again due to loss of resources.
My big worry is the Endless. 343 went out of their way to suggest that the Endless are a formidable foe and that they are somehow worse than the Flood. I'm intrigued by this, but I really hope that whatever the Endless are live up to what 343 is selling.
I'm just hoping that the Endless are a red herring. A species that has "control over time" and is somehow worse then the Flood is going to be pushing into some Marathon Infinity style convoluted nonsense. It would work better for them to actually be largely innocent, I think.
The parallels between these two pairs are super cool. I always thought Cortana's return in Halo 5 was super unnecessary but seeing the Mendicant/Offensive similarities sorta saved it for me lol
Super excited to see where the story heads to next, beginning with revealing Weapon's chosen name!
The entire story summed up is:
Mendicant/Cortana: who are you?
Offensive/Weapon: I am you, but better
what's funny is that offensive bias was created for the sole purpose of countering mendicant, and as such had very limited creativity and no free will, so as to avoid being turned by the logic plague that turned mendicant.
which makes it more like, "i'm you, but dumber"
The *ICONIC* one is back!
Could you imagine one helping master chief and the other helping the arbiter :O
I'll support you no matter what content you decide to make but I love your halo content more than anyone else's and it would leave a hole in my heart if you stopped.
Can I just say that hiddenxperia of all the halo RUclipsrs has the best thumbnails not to mention the best videos
Now if only the flood where involved in this parallel like the last time.
I just want the flood back. Imagine how satisfying it'll be to kill the flood with Infinite's AR.
I also want to use the promethean weapons against the flood in infinite.
It feels kinda weird to me that theyre trying to replace flood with the endless, as the ultimate threat.
Its a cheap replacement.
The flood is terrifying to go up against.
The endless are kinda meh. More dead aliens.
@@dreamaboutcoffee4967 I see ur point. Let the Flood infect the Endless and then it will be, The Endless Flood.
@@dreamaboutcoffee4967 the flood is just some orange goo, nothing terrific in games
@@dreamaboutcoffee4967 well what's terrifying is that The Endless are immune to the Halo rings. Whats even more terrifying is the idea of The Flood infecting The Endless, because then they too would be immune to the rings.
Remember that halo trailer years ago where MC was walking in the desert and a bird like guardian appeared? I thought that was mendicant bias and after the next halo came out, I thought MC was looking for mendicant to help him stop Cortona.
Mendicant and Offensive working together is terrifying.
I want the same sort of thing with Cortana: for her to still be out there interacting with Chief in subtle ways he’s aware of, at least.
Okay. Great video. Never even put that together despite Mendicant and Offensive are my favorites
Mendicant Bias - Cortana
Offensive Bias - The Weapon
I made that connection as soon as I learned there was going to be an A.I. in Infinite called The Weapon, which was basically just a copy of Cortana created to defeat her. And Offensive Bias has to be the "someone/something" helping The Weapon in the systems of Installation 07. I love the Forerunner Saga. Cryptum, in particular, was fascinating to me.
History repeats itself lol love halo lore
Nothing better than waking to a new halo lore video.
Anything mendicant bias related, we will welcome with open arms
Oh man do we love some lore and theories. It gets me all giddy and excited.
Great video btw!
Cortana is packing some big "weapons" in that story board...
What if the activation of offensive bias is tied to the freeing of endless. That the forerunners tied it so if someone frees endless offensive is activated and helps to stop them.
If he does show up, then this is little theory of how it would happen
The master chief is killing banished as usual, but suddenly he sees an army of banished shooting at something in the distance that you(master chief) cannot see, then suddenly a beam like laser comes out of nowhere and all the banished in the area are dead, this repeats a few more times, and chief is confused, wondering what did that, then mendicant shows up and assists you in defeating more banished, and explains why he’s going to help you(master chief).
You stole that from end game you cheeky bastard 😏 *Insert Pointing Rick Dalton meme*
The forerunner-flood war is one of the most interesting and coolest parts in all of halo lore
I've been looking forward to this
Good to see you going back to lore analysis. Please do more of it.
The title alone blew my mind. I hadn't thought about this and I'm kicking myself for not recognizing it. I have loads of cool thoughts running through my head about this campaign relating to the forerunners and potential lies they have told us. However, this obvious thing thrown in my face, I completely overlooked XD
You're awesome man, glad you can still find ways to make content in these uncertain times for halo.
This also opens up another parallel between two other important characters from both eras: The Master Chief and the Didact. Two very prominent figures in their own military who would do anything to protect their people, "no matter the cost". Now obviously there are some lengths that chief may not go to, like enslaving an entire species, but he is willing to sacrifice anything, if he cannot find another way. The Didact did not see any other way to combat the flood, hence why he created the Prometheans. He used his resources to create a solution, a morally compromised solution but a solution nonetheless. Chief does the same when he is about to delete the weapon, in the face of the threat of another corrupted AI. Maybe a stretch but there are similarities between these two stubborn protectors
I'm so glad someone else noticed this! I nearly buzzed out of my skin when I heard the mention of OB, and that's what made me start putting the pieces together to make such an exciting picture.
JUICY CONTENT
Haven't seen your videos in a while, GREAT intro 👍👍👍👍👍
"History doesn't repeat as much as it rhymes"
letss goo been waiting on another video for mendicant
Love the lore videos keep it up
If we can see mendecit it bias and offensive bias interaction would be insane.
Well, Mendicant's old heart still is on Zeta Halo and was visited a few months (or a year) before Infinite
I think we all know there are going to be more games and story development based off the Legendary ending. That in itself opens so many doors of what could come
Another parallel can be drawn to bungies old game, Marathon. Durandal, Tycho, and Leela reflect this entire story too.
Oh yeah. Theres many elements in marathon that are clearly influencing halo.
I missed this kind of format video!
Really really really hoping the flood make a comeback to test humanity one last time, except this time around humanity finds the final solution for the flood, like a cure or something, and defeats them for good, thus granting humanity the Mantle of Responsibility
That sounds hella lame how would humanity find a cure to the flood with their current technology. The forerunners existed millions of years and never came close. Why the flood be cured aswell it isn’t a simple infection it’s evolution.
@@lebronjames1472 I don't know the answers to your questions, I'm just saying it would be interesting to find a "final solution" to the flood (because obviously the halo rings don't kill 100% of the flood), and for humanity to be properly tested by the "precursors" for the Mantle of Responsibility. Technically speaking, no one has officially held the Mantle since the Precursors were killed off. The forerunners claimed to have it, but they failed their test and took it by force
If you think it's a stupid idea, take it up with HiddenXperia, because it was his idea, not mine. Go back to his videos theorizing about infinite's story before it was released, you'll find it in one of those
I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Wow. The forerunner audio logs on zeta make that much more sense now. Rings within rings. Rings everlasting and repeating.
From the moment I saw the Weapon I instantly connected her to Offensive Bias -> looks like the cycle is repeating so it should be interesting seeing how the flood takes over again
These videos are so awesome
Parallels are really insightful♥
Curious to know your opinion on the way the endless were brought into the story. I thought it was kinda insulting saying they are worse than the flood and don’t really show why. I get they are immune to a halo firing but nothing in the current campaign showed them being more of a threat than the flood. After all these years of building up the lore on the flood I’m disappointed that they’ve been pushed aside.
that's the trouble with time travel, if they can move freely through time and they're more dangerous than the all-consuming flood, nobody besides the endless should even exist. They ought to be able to go back to the beginning of time with their advanced technology and make sure nothing that could challenge them could ever evolve.
If the flood assimilates the endless, which are immune to halos they would become unstoppable
@@bensadfleck9972 that actually is a good point, especially considering that the most likely theory on why the endless are immune to the halos is because they don’t age, something that the flood could definitely assimilate
@@xXx_Regulus_xXx I like the idea that they are immune to aging, and the halos work by speeding up aging
@@mysteriousstranger5873 it kinda explains why the endless are outraged by the forerunners, their mere existence is a threat to the forerunners and the galaxy
That shot of the three lights in MC visor just HAS to be OB.
I mean they do show up in DLC, that way we could have literally even just ONE of the laundry list of characters that 343 hinted at being in this game.
Lore so epic its crazy to think it's possible!
This whole parallel makes a lot of sense and is pretty cool, given how they both are created from the same people with the same objectives in mind. That being said, with Cortana being dead for good and Weapon (whatever name she decided to go with, I decided to temporarily given a nickname TW), both Offensive and Mendicant Bias both now have similar goals to stop the threat. Hell, could you imagine both Offensive and Mendicant Bias joining forces and making such a huge threat to the Banished, the Flood, and the Endless? Perhaps even fighting alongside each other in battle physically? It would give this sense of Yin and Yang, Fire and Ice, Day and Night type scenario. But looking at the concept art of Master Chief looking at possibly Offensive Bias kinda gives me some concerns if it'll fight the Chief like Adjutant Resolution until it realize the error of it's ways.
It's like poetry, it rhymes... Offensive Bias is the key to all this.
Finally lore video
If there was a hiddenx halo lore video for every day of the year my life would go from a B to a B+
that halo 5 cut content storyboard looked like an out of context rule34 art
Yay more Halo lore
im almost certain that the "something" that was helping the weapon in the harbinger battle was offensive bias, it lines up too good
history repeating itself like this, given all the talk in Halo Infinite about time and Zeta Halo being a looping, repeating structure in more ways than one, gives all this an air of fate - especially given the allusions to the precursors, whose will to force evolution exists outside of time
Amazing vidéo i would Love to see you doing more of thèse keep it up the Amazing content 💖😃😁😁😁
Do we know if Roland is still alive? I mean the infinity as of right now was trashed and in multiple pieces if not completely destroyed. Wouldn’t Roland have gone down with it?
If what you said regarding MB and OB's goals being aligned now, it also reminds me of Halo 3 Arby and Chief what with 2 former enemies now sharing the common goal. Not a very deep or even intended similarity in the theory, but it came to mind
I really enjoyed The Weapons story in infinite and thought it was well made. Teared me up when she was arguing with Chief... But no matter 3 was the best iteration of Cortana in my eyes. Looking forward to dlc
Edit: Hey what happened to MB Luk? Just curious
Mendicant was supposedly buried somewhere on the Ark, we don't know where but the running theory is the tower that Epitaph/Citadel are set in is like a headstone for his burial site in that infinite desert
@@HiddenXperia so he was banished or for better words... Put to sleep I suppose
Took you long enough. I figured it out with halo 5. Didn't see the complete picture till infinite but expected Master Chief to at least get to say good bye to the real Cortana
History often repeats itself.. even in the real world
Juicy indeed
HALO INFINITE LORE VIDEOS HAVE RETURNED!!!
Imagine if Mendicant Bias and Offensive Bias reacted to this parallel between Cortana and Weapon.
4:24 *By Humanity. Neither Cortana nor The Weapon even come close to the level of Mendicant and Offensive Bias.
Yeah I thought it'd be something like this, even back during the trailers
I mean with all the forge leaks on RUclips it looks like 343 is almost done making all the biomes for halo infinite so I just wait .
Offensive Bias makes the beats for Craig's music.
So early humanity hasn’t discovered the ring yet
343 was like " crap we have no ideas, what do we do? I got it, reskin old bungie lore and throw it in the campaign! Genius!"
fascinating
those who don't learn from history repeat ur is a pretty good saying for this
Cortana in Halo 5 is one of her copies that split in Halo 4
"But Mendicant is on the Ark" We also last saw Spirit of Fire on the Ark coincidence_i_think_not.jpeg
Im as simple man who just wants Red Team to orbital drop into action during a main series Halo game.
Sounds like I’m gonna need to know about this to understand where the story is going in whatever’s next for infinite’s campaign.
Is the info for all this in the books?
The banished, and spirit of fire were trapped on the ark as well, but at least one of them found their way back to our galaxy to yeet chief into space, mendicant himself could too
“Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” - Winston Churchill
It would also be very interesting to see how the two Forerunner AI would interact. Do they like each other? What if there are other ulterior motives that were not discussed or fleshed out in the terminals or other bits of lore? It would be very interesting to see a shocking betrayal by one or the other. Perhaps the warden eternal stands as a significant relic of the Forerunner era that mendicant bias decides to pledge his allegiance to. After all, the Prometheans are not dead. Perhaps both of the AI have different methods of bringing about the same goal, and one of them threatens to release the flood should their demands not be met (as an aside, it would be against their protocol to do that, but it becomes logically sound to threaten this release if it brings about more results, and a calculated risk. It would also cement into our minds that mendicant may also not be released from the control of the flood). I think that it would be a terrible idea for mendicant and offensive to just be on the same side, especially given their history as polar opposites. Even if it obviously makes sense that they would both be on the same side, it does not make for good storytelling and the two should always be threatening to destroy one another with humanity and all the other players on the board caught in the middle. The endless and the flood are wild cards that nobody is sure how to deal with. At the end of the day, these two figures are integral parts of the narrative that could either spell Victory or Doom at the drop of a hat.
Them working together could also be interesting storywise
Them working together would make sense and be interesting story wise, but they could always have a strong distrust of the other. From what I understand MB and OB aren't really opposites rather MB was corrupted by the logic plague and OB wasn't. I think the only thing that really separates them is that MB is seeking redemption in the acts of protecting Humanity, while OB is still following the directive given to it by the prometheans. That's just my understanding of things, I could totally be off base.
@@DrakeNightingale Yes, you're correct. But AI in the Halo universe have full autonomy and personalities. This means that they are allowed to form opinions, interpret their directives, and AI have a nasty habit of constantly betraying those they're supposed to protect or ally themselves with. Anyone with knowledge of storytelling will tell you that characters who disagree or oppose/antagonize one another are more interesting characters. Their thoughts can be relayed, drama can be had, and particularly good writers can get the audience to be split on which of the two they want to agree with.
Take, for instance, the Stormcloaks vs. Imperials debate in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Plenty believe in the sovereignty of the Nords, while others believe that of the two factions the Imperials are less-wrong. Regardless of which side you choose, everyone agrees that the Thalmor are a bag of elvish dicks. This creates really good intrigue and investment for the players. Even 10 years later, everyone is still talking about which side of the war they prefer! Imagine the same kind of debate that can be had if Mendicant and Offensive were at odds with each other, the kinds of conversation that can be had outside of the game. Imagine the two very different plans of attack to deal with the Banished, Endless, remnants of the Created, and the Flood--hell, even UNSC, Insurrectionists, or even the remaining fragments of the Covenant sitting pretty on the Ark led by a San'Shyuum Praetorian (as shown in Divine Wind). With all these factors, combined with the distrust that these two have for one another, the two can bicker, disagree, debate, and even fight. Imagine if Offensive Bias takes over the Created to deal with the Endless, while Mendicant stays true to his desire to save humanity.
The sky is the limit--all of it infinitely-more interesting than the two of them working together in harmony, which honestly serves no purpose and would be a wasted opportunity. What would two nearly-identical constructs who work together achieve that only one of them can't from a storytelling perspective? It just doesn't make sense from a writing standpoint.
@@QrazyQuarian tbh after that, I'm inclined to agree with you. It would be an interesting take to have them heavily split like that.
@@DrakeNightingale Definitely. I know I already turned you around on this, but I kinda wanna continue. Sorry, feel free to ignore if you're bothered by it.
Take a look at how nuanced the uneasy alliance between the UNSC and the Schism-torn Elites were. Even backed to a wall, the Elites and humans were practically at each other's throats. Remember how cunning and cutthroat the Prophets were, how intriguing the house of cards they all played upon at High Charity was? Or perhaps the Gravemind making a jaw-dropping alliance with Chief and Arby, only to stab them in the back the second he got what he wanted? That shit is what turned great gameplay and soundtrack into a trilogy that could rival Star Wars. It's that kind of drama that turns an interesting premise into an unforgettable adventure.
if made a little series show of the lore of some of the halo stuff with cartoonish videos to go with them would be so cool!
Maybe contender class ai have a lifespan like cortanas 7 years, but each ai gives them exponentially more time
Those 3 dots are absolutely offensive bias, no doubt. Bummer we'll probably never see it
everyone loves the forerunner trilogy
(at least i do, i love it so much i did it as a school project, this is a joke i just had no fucking clue what to do, someone else was doing nfts, two of my friends were doing phas and rocket leauge, so it seemed like the right thing to do)
Hey @hiddenxperia have you ever noticed that the endless’s cryochamber whats them called’s look like they have the banished logo on them?
I wonder if it’s possible for mendicant bias to come to zeta halo with the spirit of fire crew
I have So many questions after Infinite but one that keep going in my head now that cortana is gone what has happened to the domain could the didactic taken control of it
Mendicant might appear if the spirit of fire crew finds him.
Now while mendicant bias may be on the ark and far away from zeta halo, might i point out that so were the banished. And with the banished's obsession with forerunner tech there's a good chance they might have found mendicant. And possibly even brought him along
I can see the two AIs fighting because they dont trust each other and chief has to pick one
One thing I don’t understand is why we are even trying to stop the endless . Other than that she was aligned with the banished we had nothing against the Harbinger. We have no idea they’re motivations but chiefs acts as if he knows they’re going to go in a galactic war path
Offensive bias, was created to counter mendican. So it could be that, if mendican tries to help humanity, offensive might switch and be confused, and be an enemy to humanity.
I'm gonna throw this out there that maybe Mendicant Bias wouldn't know about the Endless. I guess it would depend on how soon he was tried and buried.
My things is why does the weapon sound more like a kid compared how we first meet Cortana in halo CE I understand she’s a new AI but it be cool to have the Cortana personality
