This, the Halo 3: Believe ad campaign, and the Halo 3 ODST live action trailers are the best videogame live action films. Also, the funny part of this movie is that Chief and the other Spartan IIs are 15 years old during this.
This movie is unjustly forgotten in the discussion of good videogame movies. I love this movie. This Halo movie is one of my favorites. And you know what's why I love this movie? It's that this was the first Halo movie. I have ever watched as a kid. You see, when I was a kid, I loved Halo 4 so much. I play the third one and the fourth 1 back-to-back, and the first one. And I was really wishing for a Halo movie. And then my hopes came true. And so I watched it, and I was loving it. I was a little bit bored by it. But near the end, when the covenant appeared I was so giddy, I was smiling with joy, and I just loved it, and I still watch It till this day. It's actually really fascinating to me. But anyways, I enjoyed this movie, I gave it an eight out of ten
It's important to remember they were preparing to fight in a civil war. The Covenant galvanized humanity. This is seen in Lasky as he no longer has to worry about fighting other humans. No guilt in this war for him, yet.
At 8:30 to answer your question we see earlier in the movie during the campus fight that this Elite had a plasma rifle. In this scene you don’t get to see it in his hand very well, but he just pulled out his plasma rifle and shot him. That’s how the guy died.

Funny, I remember watching this when it came out and recall people absolutely hating on it lol. The vfx covenant looked terrible, the costumes and set designs were awesome tho but the story made absolutely no sense at the time because this series actually came out before Halo 4 as a form of advertisement for it. What this means is when it released fans had no idea what it was about and complained that chief was nowhere to be seen (It released in episodes before being combined into a full movie) I know ALOT of people ended up dropping it because they got bored of just watching teenage soldiers fight each other. I personally enjoyed it but I do agree with others at the time that it needed more work to be considered 'great'. Now as for the Halo Nightfall series, once again same exact issue. Its so weird that the 3 live action series of Halo made by 343 have all been flops due to slow story writing whereas with the Bungie made animation series and their very short live action Landfall trailer, all got to the point very quickly then showed us some action but still managed to tell a story thru it and was a HUGE success to the point that fans are still asking for another animation and Landfall content today.
At 8:08 I love this movie but that always bugged me. Why did he shout, “Hey!” like 3 feet away from the alien instead of just using the element of surprise to sneak up on it and beat it with the metal pipe?
