Myself, I like lasers. I really like not having to take ammo, which can explode and takes up room where you could have heat sinks that you need anyway. As for a color scheme, might I suggest going black with metallic silver trim? You know what they say about a sharp dressed man. White lightning bolt skull please.
This is one of the many things I love about the Battletech universe (from way back when), there are so many different ways to build out your mechs, to configure your lance... makes it really fun! Thanks fo the color scheme suggestions!
No problem Mal. Also, it's worth noting that you can (and should xp permitting) invest into all the skill paths, you just don't get the specializations
Hey Mal, I've tried quite a few different color schemes and tend to favor contrasting colors myself -- I like it when the patterns in the paint jobs stand out. >.< My only suggestion is to match your chosen crest colors with your paint job. You like the red skull with lightning bolt? Then go with the red & white scheme. Personally, I like the metallic Red (candy apple red) near the end of the color choices. Maybe the metallic gold for accent? One thing I've noticed is depending on the paint job chosen on the individual mech, sometimes the "accent" color ends up more prominant than the primary or secondary colors... which is why I've played around with the colors so much myself. A lot of times I end up using black as an accent color just so my "accents" don't stand out more than my main colors, lol. Just my two cents worth... got some change?
Favourite weapon in 3025? PPC, easily; it is the perfect weapon. Long range, good damage, infinite ammo, not too large. Probably followed by the AC10 or Gauss Rifle for similar reasons. Good range, good damage, cool weapons. Will have to experiment with the Light Gauss at some point. Or is it considered Lostech?
Dump the Spider asap. Better mechanics out there, and better weapons. Save the weapons, though, and equipment from it. Comes in handy later. Send to storage, then sell. I use all weapon types in my mechs, missiles, auto cannons, lasers, PPC's. I like missiles because they offer a good punch, even indirect for their weight. SRM's are good for shorter range hits. The auto cannons are good punch for their size. I think nd to stick to ac-5's until either UAC's, or gauss rifles. The lasers/PPC's, I use those to help strip armor. I use small lasers in place of machine guns, as they do better short range damage. Plus, one less source of ammo exploding. Jump jets and heat sinks in the legs, with some heat sinks in the torsos. I would switch out one jump jet for additional heat sink in the Blackjack, Vindicator, and the Shadow Hawk. As well as extra armor.
Yep, SRM's are my favorite too, paired with medium lasers of course! :-D Means we both like short range in-your-face combat. I hardly use Mal's preferred autocannons at all... except for the AC 20's once I've a big enough mech! But the other ACs are long range weapons, and he's already stated he likes to play the long range game. An AC 20 fired solo on a entrenched/guarded or even an "in cover" mech is why I like one of my non-artillery mech's to have a lancer as a pilot! FYI for those who don't know: like Mal stated in this video, you only get two fifth level talents and one 8th level talent for each pilot (and the 8th level talent must be in one of the skills you take a 5th level talent in). There being 4 skills (Gunnery, Piloting, Guts, and Tactics) this gives you 12 possible "mature" pilot builds--each pilot can have one "major" skill with both the 8th and 5th level talents and one "minor" skill of one of the other three skills with just the 5th level talent. Here is a list of the pilot titles by Major(Minor) skills: Gunnery(Piloting) Skirmisher Gunnery(Guts) Lancer Gunnery(Tactics) Sharpshooter Piloting(Gunnery) Flanker Piloting(Guts) Outrider Piloting(Tactics) Recon Guts(Gunnery) Gladiator Guts(Piloting) Brawler Guts(Tactics) Sentinel Tactics(Gunnery) Striker Tactics(Piloting) Scout Tactics(Guts) Vanguard So, as an example, a "Lancer" would have both Gunnery talents (multi-target and breaching shot) and just the 5th level Guts talent(bulwark). For this missison u shld check out the map first and find out where the objective i, which is the generator. I sent a mech to the right and sniped that generator from afar without getting my mech being pounded
Hey Mal, loving the game, playing myself. Also, just for clarification in the Battle tech universe, a Lance can be not just Mech's, a Lance could also be vehicles. Looking forward to the rest Commander....o7!
tip if you take both legs out u get 2 parts. if you take out head you get 3 parts. CT you get 1 part. any way to get 3 parts is taking the pilot out with hurting the mech to bad.
Blk & Red are good contrast but thats Kell Hounds colors, I believe Wolf Dragoons use Light Blue/gry however The Widows always had multi colored mechs. If I remember correctly Jamie's Crest was a Gold Lion on a red field. I do not remember what color Grey Death used. I like Blk Legs Ylw Torso & silver or red highlights. I also seem to recall that most units changed color to suit the enviro they would be operating in ie; grn brn in forest, gry blk in low light/City ... there is also the personality issue, some mechwarriors choose to decorate their mechs in personal schemes. I look forward to that issue resolution with anticipation, they did a great job with the personnel. Stay safe Commander (wow flashback to XCOM) ...;-)
question, while I've played some of the games related to BattleTech I'm not versed in the lore, Mal mentioned the Era's of the lore, what exactly are they just wondering cos I'd like to know
RIght, that is true. After all, you did break down what a Lance was and a LOT more things in this video alone. Even so, I appreciate you taking the time to explain.
Ok so why do you even bother reading the dialog at all!!! you read the first sentence and then skip the rest😤...just wait a second so someone can pause the screen holy hell man🤦

Hmm... this sounds interesting, I will take a look see, thanks Knight!

go for the white skull. When i played was call Black Fang. i had the spider for picture and had black and red colors.
o7
A lance is 4 mechs. But I like the old SLDF ( Star League Defence Force ) Of A full Star of battlemechs (5 mechs on the same team )
Mal Efficients sounds like a silly enough name! :D :D

Favorite weps: SRM Good dmg also causes stability dmg. When pilot gets better Gunnery 7 + SRM's are killer.

Autocannons are good and they produce nno heat or small amout of heat compared to the lrms. Drawback ammo
😊
Super late but “Mal’s Malevolents”
Super later but may be worthwhile if n different games. Malcontents
i love this commander!

yeah boyyy
\o/
So precision strike is like old style V.A.T.S from fallout 1&2
There was no V.A.T.S in Fallout 1+2.
PPC PPC PPC
Heat heat heat =)
I know you assumed everyone would know about Battletech and, safe to say, no, I know nothing of this series.
Actually, I really don't and that's why I may take more time to explain the history of events, places, tech and so on =)
RIght, that is true. After all, you did break down what a Lance was and a LOT more things in this video alone. Even so, I appreciate you taking the time to explain.
You bet!
