Great pick on The Revenant, Gabe! Couldn't agree more.
Thanks man! 🙏 Much appreciated.
Another great discussion and learnt about some great 4k titles. Thanks guys
how dare you didn't talk about aliens it looks sooo good you can see the details and the atmos remix is so breathtaking
I got this JVC 4k projector last year with a great 100" screen. Had the projector professionally calibrated and whenever I have company over who has never seen something on a 4k projector, I pop in the BBC Planet Earth III 4k disc, seen grown men almost weep because of how stunning it looks.
It’s quite the demo disc! Glad you’re enjoying that and able to spread it to others as well!
My parents went to see 2001 on a date before they were married - that's how old it is! And yet it looks amazing in 2024. Jaws in 4K was underwhelming for me. I know people sing its praises, and maybe the film grain is "accurate," but to my 80's kid eyes, it does not look that great. Superman actually looks *worse* in its 4K transfer than the earlier Blu-Ray, perhaps because the negative, which was rescanned for 4K, had deteriorated significantly in the intervening years? Don't quote me on that one.
I'd also nominate The Dark Knight and Wall-E for having superb 4K transfers.
Pausing Big Trouble in Little China for a workout...SMH.
Who would ever not like 2001
Spell the horror movie you were discussing
La La Land
Dark night rises? The original 4k wasn’t so good.
