Training the pathetic robo-reader or digital narrator text-to-speech programs to say “seven forty seven” instead of seven-hundred and forty seven, or to say “Airbus A three eighty” instead of Airbus A three-hundred eighty is just too tall of an order for the code writers and software engineers because they all seem to do it. They can’t seem to understand that LED is ‘el ee dee’, not lead like the metal, or that ‘read’, or ‘lives’ might be ‘speed read’ or ‘it lives in a hole’, but it might be ‘he read the book cover to cover’, and ‘cats have nine lives’…. at least half the time the synthetic narrator gets it wrong. Come on… it’s 2024 for heaven’s sake …
