Here in the EU we have gotten away from the seperate "Synthetic Blend Name", It is all called Full Synthetic Oil (Group 3 with some Group 4 thrown in). We check the API/SP - ACEA/A5/B5 Ratings and if the oil is recommended for that vihecle. Pretty much all oils on the market are compatible with todays engins.

Copy paste from Amsoil website for OE “KEEPS ENGINES CLEAN
      Engineered to remove harmful contaminants.
Synthetic base oils naturally resist chemical breakdown to help prevent deposits.
Detergent and dispersant additives provide excellent sludge- and deposit-fighting properties.

Group III is recognized as synthetic, there was a court case way back in the US (Mobil1 vs Catrol if not mistaken) where the court did agree that oil group III are that much changed they are allowed to be called 'synthetic'. Almost all synthetics engine oils are made of group III nowadays (as they are cheaper than IV and V not using crude as a raw material).

They are allowed to be called synthetic, but it’s not synthetic at all.

Yeah it's disgusting Mobil 1 users a really getting ripped off because it used to be a 4 only but now it's mostly 3 then 4. 3 is refined ground oil from petroleum distillates natural gas and hydrogen infused. Ah not Synthetic at all. I was a Mobil 1 user till I found out then I switched to Amsoil I just wish Amsoil would label what base stocks are used in the three lines but it's proprietary so they won't.

This video brings up a good question, what are the companies using to create these long interval oils, such as Mobil 1 Extended Performance 20,000 mile, or Castrol Edge Extended Performance 20,000 mile ? I use those products but will not exceed 5000 miles, I actually do 4000 mile oil changes, comes out to 3 times a year for my driving.

Are there any fluids from straight Group II still on the market?
To my knowledge to fulfill API, ACEA and Manufacturer specifications Group III is needed.
Atleast I cant buy Group II based oils in my country.
I am also seeing more and more blends where they mix in Group IV or Group V Esters to improve the oil.
    For example Mobil1 ESP x3 0w40 is GTL + PAO + Ester.

So group II is not able to be listed as synthetic. A synthetic blend is usually contains mainly group II. It's splitting hairs to be honest but there is a difference.
