I have a 1978 model 1631 with the original single cylinder 16 HP Briggs. I have owned it for 30 years and use it fairly often on my 2 acres. I had to replace the back tires last year, but still have the original fronts on it. My vote is try to go back to original including paint. New decals are available also. Speedex has an American pedigree going way back to the Pond Tractor Company. The T92 transmission on that 1631 is still produced and was used in many things including the Willys Jeep and Crosley automobiles.
@@t-roys I lived by speedex, eagle tractor company in ravenna Ohio my first tractor was a 1631 model with a 42 inch mowing deck was a nice well built tractor, sadly they went out of business

Ok Thanks for watching.
@@t-roys I like seeing these old tractors brought back to life. Fine job sir!
My 1630 has the 16 kohler single.
You may have a non stock engine there. But you can make it nice and paint it all up. Thats a fine tractor
Thank you.
One of these days, before I die, sure would like to own a Speedex tractor to mow my grass with.
Ok thanks for watching.
My 1631 has a horizontal shaft Briggs & Stratton 16 horse
Yeah it's the red and white for me. As long as you don't try to make it into a John Deere it should be ok though
My 1631 is a bit different it had a 16 hp vanguard engine, head lights in the grill,
That is pretty cool. I have never seen one around where I am at with factory headlights.

Think i would go back original, that 16 horse briggs is a little big for it.
Ok thanks for watching
Are you from East Texas? You sure sound like you are.
