This is typical of an old Healey, people didn't have money for proper repairs and patched as they went to keep them running, also they weren't worth much. I have a 59 100-6 and it was the same way, I even found the old square nuts during tear down and they use gas brazing for welds. I got burnt out and still don't have it back together. Lots of bad repair on the damage, be glad the front and rear shroud are in pretty good condition.
The gauges were by Smith's. Smith's no longer exist but there is a place in Wales (in the UK) that specialise in repair of Smith's Gauges. If you can’t find anybody locally, let me know and I’ll sort out the address. M
