- US Senate Chaplain, Dr Barry Black talks about what makes someone a hero. Who are some of the heroes of the Bible and how can we learn from them? The Bible can bring us strength and if we ask, God will bring us wisdom. How can we make sure we receive this strength and wisdom? Find out in this newest episode of ANN In-Depth!
This week we are joined by Chaplain Barry C. Black. Chaplain Barry Black is the 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate. He began serving as Senate chaplain in 2003 and is the first African American and first Seventh-day Adventist to hold the office. In addition to opening the Senate each day in prayer, Chaplain Black’s duties include counseling and spiritual care for the senators, their families, and their staffs, a combined constituency of six thousand people. Chaplain Black’s days are filled with meeting senators about spiritual and moral issues, assisting senators’ staffs with research on theological and biblical questions, teaching Senate Bible study groups, encouraging such groups as the weekly Senate Prayer Breakfast, and facilitating discussion and reflection small groups among senators and staff.

Like Dr. Barry Black, my mother is also my first human heroine. She experienced hardships in her life yet remain cool. Although I became adventist first in the family but her devotion to God when she's in the big church was incredible. It is indellible to me.
