Technically they are. But, and here is the big thing, sometimes people are unhappy with things about God like commandmends or ideas . When this happens the man has two optionsȘ to change himself or to create a version of God that fits its own desires. Jews did this. So the anser is a bit more complicate. They do not worhip the same God in the same way catholics and protestants do not. On the other hand islam is a completely separate religion

Rly sad there even has to be a video addressing this. I go to a Catholic high school and I’ve always been irked by the insane claim that we worship the God of the Muslims. The easiest way to refute this is by asking, “If (hypothetically) a demon were to come to me and tell me that he is the one God of Abraham, and I were to falsely believe him and worship him, does that mean I’m worshiping the God of Abraham? Of course not. The fact that I believe I am worshiping the God of Abraham or claim to worship the God of Abraham is irrelevant. This is exactly the case with the Muslims and Jews, obviously they claim that they are both worshiping the God of the Old Testament, but they are in delusion. Much love to you all at Orthodox ethos, y’all have helped me as a young teen to navigate these confusing times. God bless☦️

Everyone who says yes is a combination of an Arian and Nestorian. The idea behind this falsehood of "Abrahamic religion" is that the God of Abraham is The Father alone. Which contradicts what Christ himself said in the Gospels.
To deny that Jesus is the God of Abraham is to believe that he is not eternal, because you deny his existence in the old testament, and believe he only became God during his earthly ministry. Which is of course, Anathema.

Angel is malak in Hebrew, it means Messenger. St. John the Baptist is called a malak in Malachi 3:1 and is dipicted with wings in his icon. Long story short, Jesus is the Angel of the Lord but Angel doesn’t mean a created angel.

If you pop in the word Angel and then read all the passages that mention the Angel of the Lord you will begin to see the revelation of Christ in the Old Testament. Godspeed!

Father Peter, is the appearance of the Captain of the Armies of Heaven to the Prophet Joshua, an example of a Theophany? I’ve seen commentary that it was and others that it was the Archangel Michael. Similarly, the Angel who judged the Hebrews and Egyptians during the First Passover: I’ve also seen where it was the Preincarnate Logos or the Archangel Michael. What do the Fathers say?

    • @raphaelslaysasmodeus
      @raphaelslaysasmodeus 4 месяца назад +1

In both cases it's the Word?
It cannot be Saint Michael since Joshua bows down and worships him. As we see in the book of revelation, when Saint John bows down to an angel, the angel tells him to not do such a thing since him, the prophets and Saint John are servants of God.
Meaning the angel that Saint John falsely bowed down to was a creature. While the Angel that Joshua (and Balaam) bowed down to was Divine ie. The second person of the Holy Trinity.
Saint Justin Martyr also affirms that the captain of the Lord's army is the preincarnate Christ

    • @andys3035

Being "good" is not at the same as being holy. Being good may be the aim of the religions, it is not the end or aim of the Incarnation; that is holiness. In other words, becoming LIKE GOD, being "gods by Grace" (St. Athanasius). The Lord said, "Ye are gods," quoting Scripture. That is, He became man to make man like Himself.
Therefore, if you think the fruit of a life with/in/according to God is being "good" you are mistaken and this would explain why you wrote what you did.
If the aim of the Incarnation was to be "peaceful," "kind" or "good" people (humanly speaking and alone) there was no need for it, for God already gave that in the OLD LAW. RATHER: He became man to give us THE SPIRIT, to abide in US unto GLORIFICATION/THEOSIS. For the KINGDOM OF GOD to be WITHIN US (kingdom = His Spiritual Reign/Rule).
THIS -- does not belong to the Muslims or Jews. It is found only in HIM, in HIS BODY.
We see this in the lives of the saints. Read the lives of the many saints of the 20th century and you will see this in all its glory:

@@OrthodoxEthos Thank you for that explanation. I’m a confirmed Catholic and recently have discovered orthodoxy. It resinates very much with my soul and I would like to convert to it.
I’ve never really liked the Catholic Church for obvious reasons so my path to holiness was never clear to me and I didn’t strive for that as I should have been doing.
I guess my thought process was this,
I know that there are evil parts of Judaism and Islam such as the Pharisees and Talmud , I understand those people are following the Evil one. But when I think of Jewish people that don’t believe in that and follow the Ten Commandments I guess I thought they were still worshiping the same God of Abraham and didn’t view it as they are actually worshiping Satan because there is many good Muslims and Jews. (I never really meditated on the idea) but i now fully understand denouncing Christ or just saying he was a prophet is denouncing God himself.
It is obvious now with the explanation and know that I’ve actually put serious thought into it. And I feel regret for thinking that way before as it was very wrong.
Would you agree with the previous comment that all jewish/Muslims are actually worshiping Satan? Or would you describe it as something else?
I wrote a heart felt message to my local Greek Orthodox priest requesting a conversation and he simple just referred me to online resources. I understand he is busy but I guess I wasn’t expecting that. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comment as I very much need to relearn my faith. I have been reading the Bible for the past month as part of my journey and I will read all the books you suggested. I will start attending my local Orthodox Church I know that is the only way to begin this journey. I very much appreciate your reply.

They don't share the same and I would even extend that to say Western Christianity doesn't share the same. I use the following example to illustrate a conversation that took place a work when I wasn't there, which was told to me by our Systems Administrator:
Boss: So, we are going to be having a great deal of changes that will involve new policies and restrictions where we can't allow them to be dismissed.
Coworker: Oh great! [My Name], is going to come unglued when he hears about this!"
Systems Administrator: [Overhead conversation and is confused and decides to get clarification] So, do we have another [My Name] working with us now?
Boss and Coworker: No, the [My Name] that has been working with us.
Systems Administrator: Well, after working with [My Name] for years, I've never known for him to come unglued about anything. I thought you two were referring to a new hire to our department that I didn't know about.
The point of the example is that the Systems Administrator knows me whereas my coworker doesn't know me correctly enough to know that I'm not the type of person who comes unglued. Therefore, was the coworker's comment acceptable towards the truth? No, it wasn't because she failed to make her comment about me absolute truth instead of making the comment as a potential truth since she didn't know me. The Christian God doesn't allow assumptions about who He is and who He isn't that come from Western Christianity.

This is actually rather nuanced. You see in some Muslims and some Jews, the recognition of the true God who created everything and reverence for God. They do this for the reason that it's obvious to an innocent person with a good heart and capable of reason. They also innocently believe that their recieved religion serves this God truly and correctly, because they respect their elders and have a socially acquired system of values that helps them to be moral people. And yet, as we know, concealed in the depths of their religion is spiritual death and false worship, which like in Freemasonry is only known to the few of the higher degrees. This makes outreach and a good witness of the faith so difficult, but quite worthwhile. The children of the light will ultimately follow the true light when they are convinced they have seen it.

If the plain meaning of the text is what Judaism believes as it does, and the ambiguous mystical interpretations reveal Christianity as the truth, how is it that they, the Orthodox Jews can be blamed for believing the literal, logical interpretation but rejecting interpretations that take understanding Christianity exterior from the Old Testament to understand? For example absolutely nobody would interpret Isaiah chapter 7 to mean that hundreds of years later a virgin would bear the messiah. It's inconceivable that "young woman" be changed to "virgin" and then Isiah's wife be changed to Mary, and that Isiah's son be changed to Jesus but then where is the war that is supposed to end before the child reaches maturity? It's already ended because the prophesy only applied to Isaiah's son, of which the war of Assyria against Judah ended before his son Immanuel reached maturity. That was the miracle, and of course Isiah's wife was not a virgin, but because this is not the case Isiah 7:14 is mistranslated in the Septuagint and the Gospel by using the word "Parthenos". All one actually has to do is read the text to realize that the mystical interpretations of Christianity that are the claims for the religion itself fall flat. The Orthodox Church does the greatest job at logical reasoning than the Roman Church and the protestant churches, however there is only so far one can go before they are faced with what the Torah and the Prophets actually say if they bother to read the entire Torah and the entire books of prophesy as a whole as the context. This is a pre-requisite but this is not the methodology that the Gospels use and therefore the most leaned of Christian theologians are still stuck with taking individual verses and chapters out of context of the books/scrolls themselves.
