    Quick video outlining the issues this bike has had in my first month of ownership. The bike is amazing but the reliability concerns are certainly a source of stress.

    Great info. I wanted a Tuono v4 so bad but literally everyone i know that has them has annoying issues. Being tied to a dealer for the life of the bike because of the service light turn off is ridiculous. I do all my own work on my bikes and thats a deal breaker for me. For what they cost and for all state of the art components to have all these dumb problems happen is inexcusable. This video just confirms my decision.

      I mean yeah, you sort of know this is what you are getting into when you buy one. I will say (having just finished ANOTHER warranty repair for faulty o rings), I would still get the bike knowing what i know now. but only because i have MANY dealers near me so service is not a big deal. hoping they enable turning off the service light with the T800 soon... Anyway, yeah just get a Japanese bike or a BMW so you don't have to worry about anything.

    Only issue I've had out of my 22 Tuono base was both valve cover gaskets were pinched from the factory. Replaced under warranty. Only downside for me owning is the nearest dealer is an hour and a half away. Makes for a good ride when it's just for a basic service.

      yeah thats the one I'm most worried about since it seems quite common. i guess the fix isnt too bad tho and it wont hurt the bike. im lucky to be in socal where there are 3 dealers within 30-45 mins so that def helps.

    Over torquing the bolts on plastic parts will bottom out the shoulder on the bolt. This will lock onto the rivnut. Jam a screwdriver against the plastic edge while turning the bolt. It should pop loose. Either have the rivnut reset or put a drop of loc tite on the outer edge of the riv nut. A washer under the bolt head will help as well.

    I've had my 21 RR for almost a year done 5,000 k's ( I was not riding for 6 months of that due to a high side on my 890 Duke R) had no issues with the bike. I went +4 on rear sprocket, disconnected flapper valve, completely removed servo motor & added an ESE dongle. I also added a power broke dark tint screen. lots of Vids of the bike on my channel. I've even drag raced it for a bit of fun.

    I bought a new 2022 Tuono V4 two weeks ago. Great bike...except....at slightly over 500 miles, an "Alarm Urgent Service" message appeared on the display. Went into limp mode momentarily then ran OK except for the re-occurring Alarm message. Of course, a dealer appointment is a week out and who knows what parts/etc. the repair will require. You are really stuck with going to a dealer for any diagnostics/repairs on electrical issues. I had scheduled two track days toward the end of the month but will cancel because it is unknown when the bike will be rideable again. Not a good start with a new bike.

      @@bobc3144L sorry to hear that... they will flash it on your first service which you can do really soon (mine was done at 550 miles before i bought it). dont track the bike until you have at least 1000 miles on it as you are not supposed to go above 10k rpm until then per the manual. and certainly don't even think of tracking it before first service when they swap out the break in oil.

      UPDATE: Dealer advises of three error codes. 1) P2130-12 Pot. B Track Knob Position Sensor - S.C. to Vbatt 2) Eng Overtemperature error 3) Rear brake lever locked. Dealer is going to contact Aprilia on Tuesday for advice on solutions. If parts are needed I am told it is a two weeks to two months wait. Swell. The rear brake lever locked error had temporarily appeared while riding because I would inadvertently activate the brake light switch while covering the brake with my boot. I adjusted the eccentric toe pad down (slightly is all it will move) but have not ridden it to see if that will do the trick. I also ordered a swiveling "link" that will replace the toe pad and allow further adjustment if needed. I will update with further info as I find out the plan.

    My dealer, TeamCharlotte in NC, is insisting I deliver my bike I bought from them for the fuel sender fix under warranty. They know what it is and customer service is not their strong suit. It's just over 100 miles each way and they just want to look at the dash, not fix it. Actually fixing it will be months later when the part arrives. Another 200 mile round trip. I like Tuonos but I'm just about done with this "we've got you by the short hairs," attitude of this dealer. BMW is faster albeit with very little discernable character. But that's what I'm thinking and there is a dealer 8 miles from my door.

    Beautiful bike. I bought one last year. The seat mounts are plastic. The shoulder bolts squash the plastic and bottom out on the rivnuts. I jammed a screwdriver against the rivnut while turning the bolt. It broke free. I re installed using a washer and it’s fine now. Also while the seat is off, put a drop of loctite where the rivnut is installed and let it soak in (not on the threads).

  • @volodymyrshoniia2424
    @volodymyrshoniia2424 Год назад

    Mine had one of the tiny screws in the front by the screen missing, another one missing by the fuses and battery, one of the side trim pieces wasn't attached to it's sticky side of Velcro. One of the windscreen bolts was overtightened, so it cracked/shattered the attachment point of the windscreen in that corner, fell apart when I took it off and replaced with puig, another one of those bolts was missing a washer. Some stickers were lifting off in the corners and peeling off from the very beginning (not like I'd want to keep them anyway).
    Not sure if these wonderful build quality issues and missing fasteners are from the factory or some of it is dealer assembled.
    Most of the leaks from spark plugs weep holes seem to happy early on due to incorrect installation that ruins the O rings, looks pretty clean on mine after 3000 miles or so, so we are probably fine.
    Just sent out my ECU to af1 to get updated so I can use the upmap device since the nearest dealer which is in Idaho wasted my whole Saturday (400+ miles of riding and a couple of hours instead of ten minutes at the dealership) two months ago (thought I'd update the ECU there, had an appointment, but those guys were clueless about what map was the right one, told me its all up to date when my 22 bike has a map from early 21, couldn't reach their piaggio representative, were afraid of uploading the wrong map and locking out the ecu, and wouldn't listen to me about the right map information that I got by calling af1), initially told Vegas dealer that I picked it up from to update everything but they definitely didn't. Still no ETA on MIA unit after half a year or so, thought I'd get that done and update the ECU in Idaho at the same time, otherwise I would've sent my ECU to af1 to get update so I could use the upmap a long time ago 🤣
    All parts are backordered and take forever.

    • @MotoBoboJones
      @MotoBoboJones  Год назад

      Oh wow that sucks. I just ordered upmap from Italy and it should work as I got the first service and ecu update done. Haven't used it yet till I do my 2nd oil change. Yeah this bike is very sketchy compared to my bmw. Luckily we have lots of good dealers out here.

      @@MotoBoboJones update: gabro tune feels great, power delivery is more immediate and smoother (including the slightly weird hesitation when you wind it up from lower revs, that part is much smoother), quickshifter works smoother as well. Open valve outside of neutral sounds decent, but it's still pretty quiet, must get an akra.
      As a downside with it being a European tune to activate the integrated turn signals it also caused a flashing CEL that will be gone once flywheel calibration is performed, need a dealer there.

    • @DizzyVizzle
      @DizzyVizzle Год назад

      @@volodymyrshoniia2424 yeah I did mine too with the US tune. I think the exhaust is plenty loud now. I'm def not getting anything aftermarket. Only problem with the US tune is a slight glitch where the valve closes at 5k rpm. Otherwise it's great.

    • @volodymyrshoniia2424
      @volodymyrshoniia2424 Год назад +1

      @@DizzyVizzle but US tune is terrible because it has goofy turn signals 🤣 do we count akra as aftermarket or oem accerssory? I think I'm going to do Gabro rsv4 airbox conversion for more exciting noises since it comes with a map too, so wouldn't need to get a Gabro map for akra, although I could always see how it is with akra and standard race map first.
      I don't remember having a glitch like that, maybe a different tune version since mine's EU, idk.

    • @DizzyVizzle
      @DizzyVizzle Год назад

      @@volodymyrshoniia2424 oh I don't mind the turn signals at all. I'm pretty practical about stuff like that. Ya I talked to gabro and they confirmed it's a "bug" in 2nd gear at like 4900-5100 rpm. Not a big deal considering all the benefits you listed.
