- Antony so far has not been good enough at dribbling and taking on opponents. Antony averages a 37% succ. dribble rate, at an average of 1.2 succesful dribble per 90 (ranking at number 66 amongst ALL players in the Premier League for successful dribbles).

Mahrez first touch and ball control is miles ahead of Antony. Man U rlly got scammed when buying Antony.
Main problem with Antony is he is way too unbalanced, dribbling only with his left foot. You can see when he needs to change direction, his right foot is just acting as a crutch for his overall speed and balance. While Mahrez is very two footed and was the king of balance in his dribbling.
I think it's more so the good business city tends to do before haaland they rarely spent over 50m for players and they all turned out be world class today Mahrez would be minimum 120m

If I was a coach here is something I noticed in his style.
1) He takes on too much touches leading to errors.
2) English league has more athletic players and he must be better physically.
3) Fail to read situations when to preform a different action
4) Doesn’t just let the ball move and overbearing with the ball
5) Must know how to move off the ball/ be better at keeping possession.
He can be better but some players are sometimes stuck in their comfort zones and habits. It probably work for him at before but he has to know now that the league is more mental and physically know than ever.
Boils down to more IQ and more physicality

It's so easy to coach this guy out of a game. Every single defender squares up on his left side, daring him to cut right, but he never does. I counted three touches with his right foot in the entire video and one of them seemed to be an accident.
They said the same about Robben, Antony is still young and has loads of talent.

Antony is a prime example of what happens when you ignore your coach telling you to focus on regular dribbling instead of skill moves.

i see it now. his problem is mostly because he didn't use body feints, shoulder drop, or any kind of shimmy, and rely only on speed, which is a big mistake since PL defenders are notorious for being physical and athletic. dribbling is not just moving the ball, it is also moving the marker to create space for the ball
He actually often uses body feints and shoulder drops. The problem is that he only uses his left foot. So no matter how many feints and fakes he does, defenders knows they just need to block 1 thing all the time.
He looks like me after i stopped playing for 5 years after i played again nothing was working out just like antony 😅

With Antony it's simple. He's a player that relies on his springyness and first accelerations. In the Eredivisie his bursts were enough to beat fullbacks or centre backs. The things is tho, in the PL the average CB is faster than an Eredivisie fullback. The average PL fullback is a winger in the Eredivisie in terms of running intensity.
So naturally, from a physical point of view, Antony is having a really hard time when he's up against fast full or centrebacks. He's simply lacks pace. Sancho had the same issue, but he's a way more advanced playmaker so he can play as a wide playmaker and cut inside to orchestrate attacks. Antony can't do that, that is why he looks so limited in 1v1s.

Thats why this league is the hardest for a reason. Top players from other leagues come here and not a guarantee success. You have to be exceptionally talented like Mahrez if you want to lead in that genre of skillful player or else become more of an effective player.
