If buying the X100 series for the first time the most important question you have to ask is,
"What type of photographer are you"?
I owned and sold my X100v because it turned out I was a long lens type of guy.
I love the compression long glass gives.
I loved my 100v but it was not ticking the boxes for me.
The 100 series are beautiful but are not for everyone.
For those of you who buy I hope you love it, I really do.

Seeing you walk around Portugal really makes me miss it, got to get back there. Have the V and probably getting the VI. Glad they kept the relative size, it’s what keeps the V as my edc. Hopefully we all aren’t waiting to long for them to get these shipped out.

Great review and it sounds like a great camera - I love my 100V, and I'll probably be sticking with it. I'm surprised that the increase from 24 to 40 megapixels could make such a striking difference. I suspect this is actually due to the upgrade in processor, and probably the upgrade in the sensor image capture quality. The increase in megapixels is more a marketing thing. The problem with considering the increase in megapixel count is that it is the total across the area of the sensor and what we see by eye is the linear increase in resolution. So you have to consider the square roots of these numbers. So considering a square sensor for simplicity, a 40MP sensor has 6.32 MP in each direction, whilst the 24MP sensor has 4.9MP in each direction: so the increase in linear resolution is 1.3, and it is not 2 times better. This alone is unlikely to have a massive influence on visible resolution. I think the improved processor and the IBIS are what really count in this upgrade. I'd consider it for the IBIS.
I'll believe it when the camera actually exists and can be literally held in my hand. As of yesterday, 2nd allocation of pre-orders are "shipping in April" so you'd be lucky to even receive by May. And no chance to even try one out. Even the Ricoh GRs are all back-ordered, from Pentax and from retailers. A ridiculous and sad state of affairs when a huge chunk of buyers are just wanting to re-sell them at a profit.

Love the camera. But for video (and that price) that is a slow reading sensor and you can tell.
Would you say the video quality and stabilitation is better than the DJI Pocket 3? It should since the APS-C sensor is larger, please make a comparison

I’m torn between this or a ricoh…mainly landscapes, some rare portraits in nature.
Don’t think the flip out selfie screen is super necessary for this camera but that’s just my opinion.
Fuji also sent me a x100vi to make a review on, & I loved it but wish it was better in low light for sure! Fantastic “everyday camera”.

That’s great! Is it suitable for product photography?
If your goal is commercial work, no. This is a fixed lens, which does not give you a lot of versatility. It's a 35mm equivalent. Usually, for products, you want a bit of a tighter focal length, like 50mm and up so vertical lines within your product stay parallel and you can avoid fish eye effects. Can it take great product photos? Absolutely. I've done it. Is it the most flexible camera for every professional situation? Absolutely not. This camera is best suited to prosumers, professionals, who want a great compact travel and every day life camera. If you like this camera, but need to use something for professional situations, consider the XT-5. Essentially the same camera. A bit larger and gives you the ability to swap out lenses.

The extremely well resolved 5 foot wide prints that came from my 10 megapixel Nikon D80 a decade ago would like to disagree with this statement.
The only people who benefit from 40mp over 26mp are pixel peepers. 26mp is more than the vast majority of people will ever need or use.
The X100VI is a weak attempt at an incremental upgrade.
For cropping - it’s extremely useful.

I’m a Fuji shooter my self, yet, but I have to say that this X100VI show how lazy and uninspiring Fuji has become, IMO, of cause. Now they just make camera for the people that don’t want to move there feet, or people that thing one lens should could cover all kinds off photography. If you just follow Fuji a little you probably have guess long time ago how the new X100VI will be like. To sad that the brand that was a big inspiration with there new way to make digital cameras, they lost inspiration them self.
Now you have a Fuji camera with a Chinese soul, or maybe it lost its soul completely. Fuji completely missed there chance to make a great, NEW, X100 camera IMO.
Lazy and uninspiring? Fix focal length so you have to move for you shots? Interchangeable lenses is lazy and uninspiring. Everyone's doing it, nobody is making points and shoots with so much creativity built behind it. Ots for people who want a daily driver that has a wode variety so you can always capture your moment. If anything my Sony A7Riv makes me lazy/uninspired. Times for something new and Fuji is trying to get us there!!
@@brodygawryletz If you listen in video, and a Lot of other people as Well, They ned the more pixel so They Can Crop a lot, the need digital zoom…move your feet I say or buy camera where you can change lenses. And the lost of inspiration are because I have been shooting with Fujifilm since the first X100 was launched. They where so new thinking and a big inspiration with there camera making. But now, For long time they just did what else everybody other camera brand do. More pixel, faster autofocus etc. If you come from other brand I understand, but for me, a long time Fujifilm shooters, they get boring and have lost there magic. Of cause IMO 🙂

Hi everyone, can you help me please to take a side? I'm in doubt between Sony A7CR with Sony Zeiss 55mm 1.8 lens (found for 450 euro) and in the future 24mm 1.4 or should I get Fujifilm X100VI. Money matters but not really. Always wanted to have a full frame, but I'm not sure of the size. I'm just buying for myself not interested in earning with photography. Travel about 4-6 times a year with family. Sick of phone photos especially at night time or any low light. Purpose family, friends, travel. Thank you for your answer
