About JamesandKarla:
Hey everyone! We are husband-and-wife architectural/interior photographers based in NYC. We started our video channel to act an artistic intervention to help raise awareness of the importance of small independently-owned businesses and the unique character these shops add to the streets and neighborhoods of New York City.
In our videos we will showcase portraits of storefronts and shop owners in New York City & beyond and capture moments of city life that capture the spirit, energy and cultural diversity of individual neighborhoods. We also bring our dog, Hudson along whenever we can.
We made it our mission to thoroughly document unique 'mom-and-pop' stores when we began to notice the alarming rate at which they were disappearing. As a 9/11 survivor I have visited the memorial the first year and I have not been back.I will return for the 25th in 2026
A wonderful tribute for firehouse 5 to their fallen Manny and to all others. Manny would give treats to Tabasco. He was a nice man.

Very nice tribute Karla, and please, never apologize for being emotional. This was a terrible day in all our lives and I still get emotional. Bless all those men, women and children that fell victim to these evil terrorists, and to their family and friends.
Thank you for this. I cried when the bag pipes played I remember being in class that day and kids parents were taking them out of class. I was confused. My teacher face was bright red but she never said a word. I found out what happened when I got home

Thank you for this livestream this morning, Karla. I love that you always go to this firehouse on 9/11 and remember Manny. I have to tell you that after seeing those gorgeous bagels you got, I placed a GrubHub order from a place in my neighborhood for a plain bagel with cream cheese and lox, onions, and capers. And coffee, of course. It had been a while since I last had a bagel with lox and it really hit the spot. I hope you and James enjoyed the rest of your day. Wishing you both a very Happy Anniversary and many thanks for all you do. And hugs to Hudson, too, of course!!

It's sad yes. There is not just that evil but I have noticed evil personally in my life this Summer but things have gotten better. Evil is evil, but good is good and let us focus on that. Also no one messes with my city, New York speaking of 9/11.
