Dear Ed, I'm not willing to pay this much for a shoe, but I did buy the Adios 6 in its wide version since they are on sale at adidas right now (even bugged you about it in one of your recent live streams). And I gotta tell ya - can't thank you enough for your reviewing it, because the Adios6 is a perfectly versatile, snappy, stable and in my view even rather cushy ride. Real bargain, too. Loving the shoe as much as your videos- including your British humor, always fun. Best "shoetuber" on YT. Regards from Germany, keep it up!!
I do understand the thing about tired ankles. As someone who overpronates a bit my ankles have to work a bit harder to stabilize everything in the prime x. However, I've never felt as fresh the day after my last long run in them where i kept a pretty fast pace all throughout. It really does do wonders for DOMS.
Hi Ed, after many enjoyable miles in the adios pro 2, I decided to pick up a cheap pair of these on ebay to see what the fuss was about. I agree totally with your review and honesty feel that these puppies work over all distances from 5k upwards. They are, admittedly, tricky around tight corners but over long gentle miles they propel you along like nothing else - and I include the alphaflys in that. Keep the reviews coming!!
I've had this shoe in my Adidas cart ready to checkout numerous times but every time I decide against it. I just can't justify the price here in Australia $420. Even if you use a discount code it is going to cost me considerably more than any other super shoe on the market. Especially now that you can get the Nike Alphafly or Vaporfly heavily discounted at $260.00 or the Asics Metaspeed Sky for $264 (with a discount code). I appreciate your review Edd and I am convinced it is a very good shoe but it falls way outside my price pain tolerance.
@@EDDBUD Perhaps, it's the higher global freight costs combined with supply chain issues these days... not sure? But I've certainly noticed that Adidas have raised their prices for their top level shoes from a few years back.
Definitely my go-to for longer efforts over 10 miles when looking for some faster pacing or relaxed marathon pace. For me, there can be improvement on the lockdown as I can't find that sweet spot between to tight over the top of the foot vs some heel slip. In the end, I haven't had any stability issues or lower leg issues. Thinking I'll get 350-400 miles out of these and I retire almost all my shoes at 300. Well done Adidas. PS I didn't get on with the Adios Pro V1 though. My calves screamed at my for miles. Had to be me!
Finally (!) snagged this shoe used (20 mi) for only $125 and can’t wait to take them out once they arrive. Didn’t think I had a chance, been waiting and looking for so long for such a deal.
I ran in em for the first time today ..they are very springy..they are a very good cruiser shoe and a good shoe to help you increase your mileage ..i normally run around 5:45-6:10 for my easy runs with this shoe ..same cadence same effort done in 4:45-5:10 ..as you can see huge difference because this shoe does some of the work for you ..it is a little clunky and heavy but it's ideal for long easy runs ..there is a little bit of play in the hill area but they could be because I didn't order half a size down but nothing to really worry about ..use less energy too in these ..
@@EDDBUD Quick question on these Edd.... Did you go exactly the same size as what you do in your Nike (alpha/vaporfly)... Not really used to Adidas sizing apart from my ultraboost.
Awesome shoe. I have run two PBs in them, and I wasn’t even trying. Super weird (almost) tongue - did have to pay attention to my lockdown because there is no padding and you’ve got to be strapped into these beauties. Max roi on effort, and if you can get over the price it’ll do you proud. Ace review - cheers!
I want these. In due time. EDD you’re right about the lightstrike pro getting better, in the adizero adios 2 is gotten softer and squishier but still has a great bounce. I imagine with Prime X it’s like that but on steroids! 👍🏻👍🏻
Couldn't agree more with lightstrike Pro, even the slab in my adios 6 has just got better the more it's worn. 150 miles in now and I think they are better than when I purchased them! It's tempted me to invest in more lightstrike pro than before!
I really want to try this shoe, it looks nuts! Can’t really justify the price at the moment but if there’s ever a sale on the shoe then I’m grabbing a pair!
Love your reviews, Ed. You're not afraid to give a perfect score in an area if it's warranted, I get so sick of other reviewers that REFUSE to give a perfect score no matter what. Have you ever heard of Newton shoes? They have a lug setup in the front that I think is supposed to act similar to Zoom Air. I've been wanting to try them out for a long time, for whatever reason, no reviewers cover them.
Just bought a used (30mi) pair for only $20 on Facebook marketplace. It didn’t work out for the guy I bought them from but they have been awesome for me. I’ve put 20mi in my last 2 runs in them

I bought the adios 6 on your recommendation Ed, initially I was disappointed, but as you say the lightstrike pro just gets better, so much better I’ve just ordered another pair of adios 6s before the change them! What convinced me to get another pair is simply they are the ones I go for when I’m not racing or I’m dithering on what to wear and I certainly have plenty of choice and great shoes, yet I do think it may be that the light strike pro is the perfect balance for me with weight, comfort and speed. Hmm Pro 2s maybe ????

I sensed a disturbance in the force on Strava... I knew one was coming... I agree with 90% of the review and still love the feel of the shoe after 205km. It's a staple in my rotation. My longest run was 20 miles (32km) in 2h36 and overall it felt great. For me it's better under 5:20/km and cruises at my marathon pace. Some random facts: It drains water really quickly and is gentle on the legs and the bottom of the feet. Stability-wise, as a rear-midfoot striker, I get used to it and forget about it after a few miles. I think it promotes proper form (for me)... sloppy runners may not like it. Hard hitting heel strikers? I'm not sure either lol However, I think the upper on the Adios 6/Boston 9/Endorphin Speed is better... I find the lacing horrendous to set up properly between too tight and not enough... if not locked down properly, it can create some slight heel slippage and if too tight, some pressure on the top of the feet... and considering the (green in your model) lace loops can dig in in the skin, forget thin socks. With the right socks and right lacing, the upper is like 2.6/3. I don't know if you agree Edd... but I believe the Prime X was a concept shoe for the Pro 2. The design is similar but some details have changed like the annoying bottom 4 lace loops have a more standard design in the Adios Pro 2.
So want to try these shoes. If things go to plan Im gonna spend quite some time on a treadmill during the year. These should work great there, dont have to turn at all 😆
How does the PrimeX feel/perform on faster miles? From tempo down to 5k pace? I know they aren't going to be the fastest shoe ever, but if they can help protect the legs while performing at faster paces then count me in! With that said, love the reviews Ed! Thanks for taking the time to help the running community out!
Hey Charles. Took it up to HM pace though never really hammered it at anything much in front of that. Too many pot holes around and I was still nursing my shoulder back to health around that time. 👍🏼
Ed, you've convinced me to take the plunge. After my 2nd HM (1.19.34 & 1.18.45) in 3 weeks, using the Alphafly I found both times that in the last 2 miles my legs were dead and cost me a good 1 minute each time. I wonder if that extra cushion would assist me esp on inclines? Great review as always
Hi Ed, I have been running in these shoes almost exclusively for the last 4 months. Not doing huge mileage. Max 50 km a week and sporadic. Just been diagnosed with stress fracture 3rd metatarsal. Anyone else had any issues. Really dont know why as this is way below my normal running volume. Really liked running in them but will be very wary on return to running in a couple of months
I’ve got 60 miles on my Prime X. Although l have wide feet l reckon l could have gone down half a size from my usual 10. It’s strange as my older Adidas shoes range in size from 10 to 11.5. Have Adidas changed back from a south east asian last to a longer/wider west European/American last? I can remember having Nike run shoes in the 1980s that were made in the USA and had a wide fitting. Then in the 1990s Nike moved production the SE Asia and the shoes became a narrow fit!
Edd I’ve just bought a pair of Asics Magic speed 2 what are your thoughts on them please I have been using Adidas Adizero pro 3 but the lace stitching causes me major issues on long runs
I’ve sent them back Edd there just too hard and not comfortable definitely not marathon trainers I may look at Saucony I would love to buy the Prime X but there to expensive mate keep up with the great blogs Edd
@@EDDBUD After 50km or so in mate I’m well pleased with them, stability could be an issue if you’ve got weak ankles but these things eat the distance and I also find they’ve made me more conscious of form.
I picked these up yesterday in TX Maxx Bromley, Kent/South of London that had an over 50% reduction from £220 down to £99.99 earth credits, and what made it even sweeter is that I used a £100 gift voucher that I won at work last month!!. It was a complete impulse buy, and it was lucky that I had the voucher with me... that I was supposed to use on Christmas presents 😬😱 which I still ended up buying some too. Will it be ok for a 5mile road race 🏁 that I'm doing in Battersea Park next Friday 🤔 even though its recommended for Long runs??
OK Edd, you've talked me into it. I've been on the fence... Getting this beast now. I'm a large guy (6'1", 215 lbs, size 12-12.5 shoe) and I think it will treat my legs and feet well.
Checking in. I've received my Prime X pair and have went in 3 runs now, totalling about 22 miles. These shoes have been AMAZING for each run. Easy run, stride repeats, long run. Going to do a tempo run today. Going to buy a second pair because they're so fantastic. My legs have never felt so fresh.
Might be an option for my upcoming Ironman. How is the width of this shoe compared to other racing shoes e.g. Metaspeed Sky or Vapor Fly? Adidas shoes are normally too narrow for me, but the Prime X looks wider
I love this shoe, although I' ve had a few close calls with potholes and the like. 11.5/12 says it all. Bet you didn' t expect to hand out that score before you picked it up? I certainly changed my mind as well in my 180k in this shoe.
Pretty sure WA capped stack height at 40mm and limits plates/rods to a single plane (though it can be in multiple, non-overlapping pieces) to make sure the records set in the Vaporfly would remain intact while avoiding further controversy regarding shoe development
Ed, is this shoe marketed as a trainer or a race shoe? I'm glad your review mentioned it can hold up well for daily use. I was worried about the upper.
Hi Edd, your takumi sen 8 is the same size of the prime x? do you think the prime x has a bigger toebox area and the base in the middle is wider? I have the takumi sen 8 and it is fantastic to use for faster workouts (although the middlefoot is a little narrow) the Prime x I would like to use in longer runs, different paces, sometimes not so fast, so a wider base should be better. Thanks
Sen 8 a little tighter in the arch. The primex has a touch more toebox room. But the recent adidas shoes are the closest to true to size as they have been for ages.
Well I've gone and done it, Adidas have a prime x in a new colourway which I love, so I buckled and ordered a pair Needed a daily that's fast, grippy, hard wearing and comfortable There are barely any shoes that fit all that criteria. I needed something that allows me to rack up the mileage, but looks after me And I know the Adios 6 grips will, so I'm sure this will be the same. I'd doubt the prime x2 will be coming anytime soon. Now real question, do you still love them and are they wearing well?
Haven’t worn them in a while. But very quickly clocked up 100 miles in those and that says a lot about how much I liked them. Supremely comfortable and bought me back from a double shoulder fracture. That’s how cushioned they are!
Hi Love your reviews, but as i mainly watch you tube on my TV i can't usually make comments. I like what you said about this shoe and bought it, its now in my select of Invincible Run, Endorphin Pro, and Endorphin Speed. To add my two pen-th to the review though i have to slate the tongue and the laces. The bottom of the tongue doesn't even join the two sides of the shoe and so you a gap either side just showing your sock which is a bit rubbish, i don't think i'd want to wear them when the weather starts getting wet again. And the truly awful bit.........the laces are so narrow that they cut into my foot if you try and do them up even remotely tight, luckily the lock down remains ok but i don't feel like i can do-them-up like i normally would with wider laces. They had such a bite on them yesterday that my foot started to go numb waiting to go of my run so had to loosen them off. I've never experienced anything like this on any other pair of shoes i've had. Anyway, keep up the good work, just my thoughts for anyone else looking at getting this shoe.
Hi Ed, These are really hard to get in Australia. I was using a pair of Alphaflys as my daily shoe and loved it until one of the air pods deflated. How does the Adios Pro 2 compare to the Alphafly in softness? I know its crazy using these shoes for daily use but after a knee injury and a heart attack I just want propulsion and cushioning in all my runs.
Nike just emailed me to say they had to cancel my order because they ran out of the Alphafly I ordered, then this glowing review appears on my front page. Do you reckon it’s a sign?
Potage bonne femme... Any final workout sessions this week or just coasting through and saving the legs for Sunday? I'm pondering a light session tomorrow then couple of short(er) easy runs before the Sheffield half.
hey Edd.. Ican se a pair for £120 ! ..what's the sizing compared to other adidas shoes ? usually I'm 7.5 for Nike but 8 for ADIDAS (adios 6 being my last ones)
@@EDDBUD phew, right decision I think, toe box is pretty accommodating but it won't be for racing so no need for snug /1 thumb space ...just walking in kitchen I can't wait for my run tomorrow!
I have to admit my interest is piqued. Do you think this is more stable than the Pro2? I feel a bit wobbly running in the Pro2 so didnt know how these compare.
@@EDDBUD should I go with the Adios 2, then? Also I have the Alphfly, I have done twon marathons in them, but after 30 km or like so, I've felt an arch pain, I've gone true to size, do you think I should go half a size, because I have tried them in a Nike shop but half a size felt to tight. But I felth them firmer? Sorry for the long message, but your advice will make a big difference. Thanks!
Having had my moan about the laces i have to say these shoes do give the old joints, knees in my case, great protection and due setup of the shoe force me to be a mid to fore foot striker as i'm not confident of the rear stability, but that's a good thing right?
I agree 100%. Exceptional shoe design. With these much tech in this shoe, maybe the next iteration would just be an upper update. Most of the trolls slam this for being illegal, as if most of the running community are all elite 🙄😂
Too much running, not enough tibialis raise in the gym or playing other sports if your ankles can’t provide the support you need, you’re gonna have a bad sprain one day
2 x 4km easy runs last week 1st in Puma Deviate Nitro which felt nice on feet......2nd in Prime X (30 sec faster, 11 RPE score lower on Strava and 5 BPM Ave HR lower with Prime X).........................GET THEM ON FOR YOUR HALF!!......Purely for review of course!....But would be interesting👍🦾🏃♥

I’ve sent them back Edd there just too hard and not comfortable definitely not marathon trainers I may look at Saucony I would love to buy the Prime X but there to expensive mate keep up with the great blogs Edd
New sub Edd! Had to order a pair of these after watching this so cheers for costing me £220 😂
I hope they work out well for you. An insanely cushioned shoe. One of the most forgiving I have tried. As long as you have strong ankles and form.
My word. What a discount!
Ok on races but avoid tight cornering!
Have you done an Adidas supershoe comparison of say, adios pro 3, primex and maybe Tecumi sen 8? Might help some of deciding which one to buy
I did do an adidas grading video recently.
@@EDDBUD Will give that a listen. Thanks.
6’1 is just a pointguard size
Prime X is $50 more expensive than he Alphafly in Australia, $420 vs $370
Might be an option for my upcoming Ironman. How is the width of this shoe compared to other racing shoes e.g. Metaspeed Sky or Vapor Fly? Adidas shoes are normally too narrow for me, but the Prime X looks wider
It’s a tad wider than the Adios pro 2. Not by much. Perhaps energy sapping on the ankles late on.
I love this shoe, although I' ve had a few close calls with potholes and the like. 11.5/12 says it all. Bet you didn' t expect to hand out that score before you picked it up? I certainly changed my mind as well in my 180k in this shoe.
Yes avoid those pot holes please Robin!
Great review, why is the stack height capped at 40mm, would it really improve performance that much if it was 50 or 60 mm??
Pretty sure WA capped stack height at 40mm and limits plates/rods to a single plane (though it can be in multiple, non-overlapping pieces) to make sure the records set in the Vaporfly would remain intact while avoiding further controversy regarding shoe development
Ed, is this shoe marketed as a trainer or a race shoe? I'm glad your review mentioned it can hold up well for daily use. I was worried about the upper.
I think they kind of just put it out there and left us to make up our minds.
Sprung version 1 out of stock but these are available for £160 like the sprung v1, will I be missing out not going for the Sprung technology?
I found the upper on the strung much better than the original v1.
@@EDDBUD Thanks, saw your video about the prime x the price is excellent and if you use the code adidas15 you get more 15% it is a steal
Well I've gone and done it, Adidas have a prime x in a new colourway which I love, so I buckled and ordered a pair
Needed a daily that's fast, grippy, hard wearing and comfortable
There are barely any shoes that fit all that criteria.
I needed something that allows me to rack up the mileage, but looks after me
And I know the Adios 6 grips will, so I'm sure this will be the same.
I also mainly watch on a tv too!
❤ you Ed
Thanks for tuning in 👍🏼👊
Thanks for tuning in 👍🏼👊
The shoe looks awesome but for me if I am using my forefoot during long runs I get terrible shin splints. Maybe I am running wrong.
Good review. Can u suggest which shoes has SOFTER CUSHIONING than adidas ultraboost or pureboost for long walks?
For more cushion examine the sl20 or Adios 6.
@@EDDBUD thank you
Hi Ed, These are really hard to get in Australia.
The Adios pro 2 is softer all round. The air pods in the alphafly won’t be for all I think. Quite firm really.
Nike just emailed me to say they had to cancel my order because they ran out of the Alphafly I ordered, then this glowing review appears on my front page. Do you reckon it’s a sign?
Do it! Do it! Do it!
Quite a different shoe to be honest. Makes the alphafly almost seem like a race flat!
So tempting now😅
It’s a cracking shoe. Bit underrated by some I think. Just don’t try walking in it. 🤣
Potage bonne femme... Any final workout sessions this week or just coasting through and saving the legs for Sunday? I'm pondering a light session tomorrow then couple of short(er) easy runs before the Sheffield half.
Very easy stuff this week. Will put my bachelors record on or maybe pop to the nags head for some light conversation. 🤣
@@EDDBUD You'll have to order a Tia Maria and Lucozade.
Hi - Have you seen the new AllBirds trail shoe Ed?? Crazy.
Will check it out 👍🏼
With all those stacks on stacks , I though this was a hip hop video🤣
Some serious stack. Imagine in even bigger sizes!
hey Edd.. Ican se a pair for £120 ! ..what's the sizing compared to other adidas shoes ? usually I'm 7.5 for Nike but 8 for ADIDAS (adios 6 being my last ones)
I found the Adios 6 needed a half up. I would say go with your Nike size
@@EDDBUD thanks Edd, went up with size 8 in the end as they were low stock/better too much room than black nails, hope I don't regret it!
Absolutly not more stable. It takes some time to get to grips with this shoe.
If you u were to run a marathon with minimal turns, what would you choose prime x or alphafly?
Minimal turns? Primex all the way
Hi, do you think they are suted for a Marathon? Thanks!
If you have strong ankles and good form.
Thanks!
Are these still race illegal? Stack is too high?
Race legal for amateurs.
@@EDDBUD aha! i just need an 80% discount code now ;-)
Having had my moan about the laces i have to say these shoes do give the old joints, knees in my case, great protection and due setup of the shoe force me to be a mid to fore foot striker as i'm not confident of the rear stability, but that's a good thing right?
I found the same. Made me concentrate on the foot strike even at slower speeds.
I want to try this shoe soooooo bad! I just can't bring myself to pay £220 for them! Man I hate being poor
Keep an eye out for a discount deal, bound to be one some time
@@EDDBUD Aaah mate I'll be waiting an eternity 🤣
I agree 100%. Exceptional shoe design. With these much tech in this shoe, maybe the next iteration would just be an upper update. Most of the trolls slam this for being illegal, as if most of the running community are all elite 🙄😂
Yes it’s not really a factor for most runners. In fact a huge percentage of people who simply enjoy running can get a great time from these.
I’m enraged! Lol but it’s not anything about the shoe, it’s the price!
Hi
Gold! 🥇
Dear Adidas, make it in a size 14.
🤣
Yo
Bronze podium finish 🥉
@@EDDBUD woohoo
Not often the upper is less fat than the midsole 🤣
It’s weight reduced to the hilt!
Too much running, not enough tibialis raise in the gym or playing other sports if your ankles can’t provide the support you need, you’re gonna have a bad sprain one day
Yeah I never found it to be too hard on my ankles. Perhaps they are strong?!
@@EDDBUD definitely! I just saw some people in comments complaining about sore ankles
Trash. Don't buy these. They f up ur ankles.
I had no issues with these at all.
They absolutely do lower the effort. It’s quite pronounced.
