As always, very hyped for video! I think that mattel should hire you. For real. It would be better for everyone.
Really like your take on these figures. A lot of reviews are from the average toy collector or a fan, so it's very refreshing to hear from a actual artist and designer perspective.
I mean fair points on the video, however, the membrane folding in on it self, is a trait of the Tyrannosaur, the bucks membrane in the lost world does the same thing so although it may be “unrealistic” it is accurate to the animatronics.
If only you can be present at the Mattel Q&A happening at Sdcc, Flying to Cali does cost a fortune and on top of paying for comic con tickets. Would’ve been awesome to hear you speak out and tell Mattel about their issues and what needs to be fixed
(Edit: welp turns out Mattel didn’t have any Q&A like they promised while at sdcc, that’s Mattel for ya)
Marco in the video: **serious**
Marco in the live chat: *”BLACK BANANA CLAWS”*
16:10 A good example for charper teeth is actually the Transformers Studio Series Grimlock figure (the Age of Extinction one). His teeth are quite pointly but still rubbery, so they don't have a big issue with causing harm.
i just ordered mine fingers crossed there is no quality control issues
The front view of the HC Rex is actually based off of the CGI model, which isn't as wide and exaggerated as the animatronic
This's what i think actually. HC rex head is looks more like CGI version. It's different from Animatronic. But i actually prefer the Animatronic version. I think replacement head of marco is good for the people that prefer the Animatronic one. But some people don't mind that because original is accurate to CGI
Your mods really made a difference in this T-rex. I havent been able to aquire one just yet & with the QC issues im seeing atm, im no longer stressing over it. Maybe by the time Mattel releases the Green Male variant "fingers crossed" ,they will have ironed a few kinks out, then again, this IS Mattel we talkin about lol
Great review as always! As much as I like the figure I’m a bit disappointed in the quality control, especially in regards to the paintwork. Mine has a big splash of dark wash on the left side of the torso (seems to be common across others too). I’ve considered taking some acetone to it but don’t want to risk damaging the plastic. But aside from that it’s really a great Rex!
I would try using paint thinner. It is less abrasive but still gets the job done
If paint is the main issue, then that’s not too bad, better then loose joints being common
@@ventris425productions5One of the joints don’t even work for me 😀(I was super upset)
@@localnobody2706 oh
This was one of the most extensive and devastating reviews I have seen of a product. You absolutely ripped that thing apart in the most technical of ways.
12:08 I think the stretches membrane is mostly on CGI version.
I remember the animatronic of JP or the scene where buck rex is roaring at sarah in trailers scene from TLW. Or even the scene when greenie rex dead and spino used his hand touched it in JP3.
The membrane of those animatronics is actually bends inside a little bit. But not as much as this HC figure. I understand what you want to point it out
Hey Marco Makes, I’m Joshua Bautista or Joshua Draws, I decided to make a new account. I also can’t wait for the premiere!
I work in the movie bizz and I worked on the first two original Jurassic parks an I'm a sculptor and then all around practical effects maker! I agree with you with some of your points but for 50 bucks it's a pretty damn good Jurassic Park T-Rex! Can't be to nitpicky even if it's a collectors toy it's still good for 50 bucks! To get an exact replica of a Jurassic Park T-Rex you're going to have to pay over a thousand dollars for a large figure! Don't like the clown feet but motel does it so the figure can stand! Mattel is just you reusing their moles because of cost!
I agree with you but Marco and Syrett Tech have made smaller feet for it and it can stand on it own
Is the extreme chomping the same size as the Legacy rex? Because I have the Legacy rex so it would provide more context for me.
I like to think, in an alternate world, Kenner is still going with their figures.
I was never born in the 90s, I never got to grow up with the toys, though I do own five of their figures, but sometimes
I prefer if Kenner got the rights
Just think of what a Rubber Indominus or even a Rubber Giga could've been
Well at least we have you Marco, love the Rubbersaurs
Well Kenner doesn't exist anymore. It's Hasbro now. And as we all know Hasbro trashed their toys in 2015
@@realCriminalLawyer I'm fully aware Kenner is no more, which is why I said in an ALTERNATE WORLD! Like a joke or something, just a personal wish it was still around and they had the rights, ok?
@@damienbastings Yeah I wish Kenner would still exist
@@realCriminalLawyer Same friend... Same... I wish I could've been around for those days... I want that Demon Carnotaurus
all of this should have been like the super colossal, having the option it independantly move the top or bottom jaw
even with the main line figures, just a scaled down super collosal, and maybe make it rubber
would have rather had that than like 10 diffent rexes
37:15 to all the people saying it can’t stand with normal sized feet:
And guys giganotosaurus and indominus rex will be in the masrani collection
honestly i dont really mind the big feet lol
Hello Marco is the review can you show us your progress on the giga next to the Hammond collection rex
In this video, the viewers not just learning about dinosaurs action figures, but also anatomies, sculpts etc.. Mattel should hire you..great job Dude.
What are your honest thoughts on Mattel? Honestly, Mattel is no longer good anymore. Kenner is still the best one, until Marco smash it up his awesome Rubbersaurs, but it this was the official, then Kenner still holds it. But Marco really deserves the licence, if he does make Rubbersaurs in a factory, they may not have all the paints, maybe when the first start then it cuts cost or maybe retire them and then bring them back in a few years like they did from the start. (Great strategy I made) Marco deserves more.
Marco, if u are reading this, thank you very much and still got some other stuff to say.
Unseen opinion: marco should replace mattel
@@Mich_as I always wanted that, it would be a same for Mattel to go... Or! Maybe Marco comes in Mattel and take over the Jurassic Line! Long live Marco!
Really liked your indepth review of this dinosaur. I agree that the feet and thighs are a bit to big. The one problem i have come across with mine is the thighs don't move. Love the way your modifications look. Very nice job.
As for the rounded teeth
I think mattel said that those arent adult collectors items, but they are just kids toys but for older children
Normal toys are like for 6-7 year old children
This is for 9-10 year old children
So yeah, its probably meant for kids
No, Mattel advertised them as adult collector not a kid toys
@@diypropsmodels7064 the box says 8+ or something
@@akytheguest but they advertise it as adult collector since the Amber Collection to the Hammond Collection, I think they include the “ 8 + “ as a excuse for things like round shape teeth and claws, big feet in case kids want them
@@diypropsmodels7064 They are advitised for older collectors but still the teeth are rounded because a kid might have one and even a adult might get hurt
@@isaak6375 I know but they made it too round though, they should’ve make the teeth semi-sharp
Looks great after the modifications. Definitely need to see a video on how you did these. And will wait to buy those rexy feet!
I would be so happy If I can finally afford that :(
Hammond collection > amber collection
I've been wanting Amber collection T-Rex ever since it came out also a rubber T-Rex ever since they watch your videos
Hammond collection
wow cool
I almost bought one but the dark brown mustache / upper lip I find very ugly.
But can it get in to a realistic dinosaurs sitting pose
Just asking is it nornal on etsy for it to say dilivered next to my order when i only ordered yesterday ? And it still hasnt arived?
If it's a digital download yes
@@MarcoMakesOfficial weird bc i didint buy digital download
@@MarcoMakesOfficial sorry to bug you but the indoraptor replacement head is like a digital filefor me to print myself right ?
Yea it's a digital file
I got mine last week when I was on vacation and I am proud of myself. I do have a list of other dinosaurs they should bring in: Carnotaurus, Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus and Nasutoceratops.
Picked mine up today. Very happy with it. Only complaint was that one of my arms was locked at the shoulder and I had to screw around a bit to get it to actually articulate properly. Other than that it seems to be going smooth.
It's pretty werid how it's face isn't as wide as it should be considering the fact we got a t rex that has the wide face and it looks exactly like the rex from the movie.
It depends on what there going for,if they are going to the animatronic look than yes wider face,if cgi,Then No
I’d say it is a 9 out of 10 for a Mattel figure.
I ❤my Hammond collection Trex only problem it's don't Roar cost 53 99 for price it's Roar and walk
Can anything be done with the eyes? It's bugging the shit out of me! I have some experience with acrylic paints...I wonder if I can paint over them somehow?
As much as I love the Hammond Rex, the ankle joints are way too weak for my liking. This can be especially annoying when I’m trying to use it in a stop motion. Has anyone else had this issue with their Rex??? If so any solutions?
I have the same issues. You can try adding a drop of superglue in the joint and before it sets make sure you move the joint. that way it won't glue the parts but make the joint stiffer
Thanks! I’ll try this out before the premiere
@@MarcoMakesOfficial I see this is a hit or miss with this figure. If its not the squeaky/weak chest joint to now weak ankles?
@@MarcoMakesOfficial I can't wait to get the replacement feet, but is their any way I can put more textures on the figure? Like seriously for 50$ I was expecting crisp detail. Also are you thinking of making just full on replacement legs for this figure any time soon? I can't get over the long thigh and the knee is to low on the leg and the double hinge joint and the thick calves and ankles.
@@34r343 give it time, within the next month Marco will probably have full on replacements for every Hammond Collection fig
How about you make an accurate version of hammond collection tyrannosaurus rex Jurassic park version
Got this on sale for $15. It will be a mount for my mcfarlane fight the.frozen caveman batman
How do I assemble the smaller feet on mine?
Marco’s in the process of making a video on how to replace the feet 👍
@@sorasart thank you sora
Are you going to modify the Rex and give it movie accurate?
is it just me or does the colossal Trex look more film accurate and less cartoony?
Excellent review! Are you able to re-do the head to make it more accurate or the teeth to make it look more streamlined and movie accurate?
You look hard find it people are buying out like crazy at target not all target stores have them
Marco please i love your channel please can you send me rubber saurus rexxxx love you
It's don't Roar or walk I ❤ it's real looking eyes looks like Trex eyes are follow you
The teeth not being sharp is no excuse for safety because they are sharper on the Stomp and Escape rex
I don't like that spinosaurus is smaller than tyrannosaurus
I recently got the sound surge tyrannosaurus Rex and Giganotosaurus figure and they're quite and scaled each other and the downside is that big feet which is a downside for me and on my t-rex figure looks like it has velociraptor eyes
I’m looking forward to the painted feet on the shop. I need them, lol.
i wish spinosaurus was bigger than rexy & giganotosaurus
I'm curious how you managed to shave down her thunder thighs lol. Now that you pointed it out, yeah, they are freakishly thick 😵
I wonder if you will make a “Marco collection” where you do you own spin on these figures, eh?
"Favour T Rex ever"
That aged well now
Yo Marco, the day after tomorrow is my birthday.
I ike how they added the detail of the eyes following you
The scale of the main line (I calculated) to be 1/19.2. With that, your normal rex (at 21.5 inches) comes to 34.4ft while this slightly longer tail (at 25 inches) puts it at 40 ft.
I want this toy so mush
1/12 scale. Not 1/6
Marco What Happened In Europe? I Heard It’s Getting Extremely Warm There Due To The War.
And the head of my Giganotosaurus figures just too big
Excelente
review , una consulta , venderas esas patas modificadas (reducidas) de T. rex ? y si es así, haces envíos a México ?
Trex I got it now eyes looks real more then other trexs ty
I don’t like how the torso joint gets very loose right away. I’ve had my T-Rex for about a week and the torso joint just slides down whenever it stands, giving it that constant hunched look.
Kak
I wish the tail had more segmented articulation points like an SH monsterarts Godzilla
over hyped apparently
Are you still gonna sell some printed feet? I don’t have a 3D printer but would like to get a set.
Can we remove the tie ?
If I plug it in the back of the T-rex, could I remove it ?
Hi man what would you suggest I do when the Rex snap on the mouth starts to Fade and I want to close the mouth properly? Do I use Putty ?
Do we fr have to copy the feet I don't have a copier at all and every time I look at your esty shop I don't see stuff like those T-Rex feet that have to be printed I just want the new feet painted so I can't copy it
I had a similar problem with the mouth not closing when i got it the mouth didn't even snap open and close like it was supposed to like the joints in the jaws had been worn out and the arm on it was also glued in place the mouth because of the weak joints is now just half way open giving it a derpy look i guess i ended up buying another one and this one does have a good functioning mouth it snaps open and closes like its supposed to and unlike the other one the mouth doesnt gradually start opening every time you open and close it ive been playing with it for a while now and the mouth is still holding up and the joints still click
Simply, wish me a happy birthday through the comments.
Kai
Does anyone know how to get a hammond collection t rex in belgium that is affordable ?
I like this T-Rex, but what I don't like are the glass eye and the giant feet.
the snapping doesn’t work on mine, fresh out of the box the rubber kept on keeping the mouth open
crazy how fans always do a better job than multi million dollar companies
p͎r͎o͎m͎o͎s͎m͎
Can Kiki joint tightener fix the snapping function of the jaws if it wears out?
Syrett Tech
Which tape you using making the dinosaur please say me
is it good
I love super in depth videos like this! It was neat hearing your input as a sculptor. I will say, the reason the teeth are still not sharp is because, despite it being an adult collector item, safety regulations don’t really care. In order for a company to market something as a “toy” at retail, it must still fit the safety requirements of a toy made for 3+. If they wanted to avoid these regulations, they would have to mark it as “not a toy, 18+”. It’s a bummer, but that the legalality.
hey mates so we all waiting for the video i wanna tell you a story a story thanks for your time
Am doing a repaint of a Hammond collection raptor
This was hard for me to find also how overpriced it is
Did the heat affect the rubber membranes by any chance?
WOW AMAZING T. REX! Also great job on still making the video even through a heat wave
How did u remove the tail?
yes I am waiting for this
Where's my Hammond Collection Carno!
that's what I'm saying
I don't own a 3D resin printer, so if I want the feet fixed, I'll have to resort to dremel tools and milliput, both of which I don't have but are much cheaper than a 3D printer.
Or you can have someone print it for you
@@MarcoMakesOfficial Yeah, I don't know anyone with a 3D printer and the nearest 3D print shop is a 2 hour drive away.
Excellent Video
I just bought this T-rex figure and was blown away when I first saw it,then I just run into your video and saw the modifications you did on it and I LOVE it even more. I'd definitely like to purchase a pair of the modified feet. Do you offer Printed sets?
Syrett tech sells printed versions 👍
