I run the XXL with a Mesa Dual Rec. And a 5150ii in the past. Blasphemy, I know, but the XXL is untouchable! Handles everything perfect. More depth and body without losing clarity than any cab I've had in the past. There seems to be no weakness with it. It'll be your favorite cab

Congratulations, dude. It's always great to see when someone gets something they want so badly, and they work their butt to obtain it. Mine was the barefaced vehicle 2x12. I was working in England and I was looking around music shops in Manchester. I got talking to the owner, and he owed that cab and wanted to sell it. All I can think of is how am I going to get it home. But I knew if I bought it, I would have no choice but to figure out how to get it home. And of course, I did ( DHL), and a week later at home, it made its way to the house unscathed. It's a great feeling when hard work pays off.

Yeah man, I absolutely love ENGL. My older Fireball 100 is still the best amp I've ever owned. And paired with my SW Cab loaded with Fane speakers gives off a sick black metal tone.
If I can get hold of 1 of these cabs and not go broke in the process, I would buy 1 without hesitation
That's awesome. That was the exact setup when I tried out my Fireball 100. I wanted to buy it along with the amp but it would have pushed me well outside my expected budget. I remember being able to feel the palm mutes even though I wasn't playing very loud. It sounded sounded so heavy.
This is an awesome setup. ENGL is coming out with a founder's edition head. I have that and this cab on my wishlist. Budget bound as well.

I love the SM57 only idea as a benchmark, but more mic options would be cool.
Also, this may be my favorite tone of yours. That cab sounds awesome. That amp and cab combo sounds great.
Hey Kyle! Try putting that condenser mic about an inch further back than you had it and then blend it with the 57. I usually put the 57 louder than the condenser because it adds so much warmth to the 57. Either way I love the tones you had today man.
Pretty damn cool Engl cabinet, there! That Engl is so heavy and will never leave the house: it is now a permanent household fixture!
I’ve seen Engl oversized 412 cabs before, but always on sale USED for $1000 or more - just like the Soldano and Friedman 412’s.

The top 2 speakers are slightly angled in the straight cab body shape so they do fill the room good
I have one of this and is absolutely killer. I switch two of the V30 for G12k100 and sounds even better. As far as weight, no problem if you are use to moving a 4x12!
Id like to see a speaker break in video, and id love to see a side by side comparison with the mesa cab. Not just sound im also curious about size, weight, and construction
Best tone I have ever had was a Splawn competition 50 through this cab. It was heavenly.

I'll also need a new head to go with it as my Rock Master is sitting on my ENGL 1x12 which even that is light years beyond my skills.
I’ve almost all Engl’s and have the Blackmore. I really miss the Fireball because it blends so well with the Blackmore

Something any guy can love, a tight round bottom end. I patch your videos through my home stereo that is a Frankenstein with a bunch of pro rack stuff incorporated, EQ'S, sonic maximizers. Sub synthesizers, compressor/limiter, multi amps totaling 1600 watts through a linear array of 10speakers left and 10 more on the right, plus four more to handle the subs so I can get the real sound and then some and that cab sounds sweet. No doubt, worth a compressed disk and a hernia. Happy for your scoring the cab, and avoiding said injuries.

I ordered my Engl cab in 🇦🇺 an had to wait almost 2 years for it to arrive. It’s insane how great it sounds, and it looks so cool.
And it’s so heavy it’s got it’s own gravitational pull.

I’ve got one of these cabs. They’re INCREDIBLE. They’re my ideal cab for all applications to my ears. Nothing hits like them.
Also, yeah, the weight fucking sucks and you never get used to it. 😂
Definitely get some runner made up for the bottom of your cab, made of (HDPE) High Density Polyethylene. Its the same thing that they make cutting boards out of, and it comes in different colors (like black)as well as different densities. They can even have a slightly oily property to them, helping you break the friction barrier.
Just do a quick search for HDPE suppliers around the Cleveland area, or maybe Pittsburgh if your Pennsylvania-centric. I'm not familiar with HDPE supply in the Erie area.

I bought this cab new a couple years ago, ended up swapping out the Chinese v30's for MESA UK v30's and it immediately sounded better (less fizzy) also removed the metal grill (which was causing some rattle) great cab now! 👍
Coulda saved like 400-600 dollars just buying a Mesa cab

Indeed, this is (to my knowledge) the heaviest V30 cab in existence!
63kg or for our imperial guys overseas 139lbs.
In comparison the Mesa oversized comes at 49kg (108lbs)

I was one of the first Engl dealers in the USA that has success with them and actually sold product and a shit ton of it back when I started with them in 2004 by recording sound clips of the amps plugged straight in. I unfortunately ended my relationship with them in 2008 when they gave US/Canadadistribution to another party. Sad days back then but I still stand by their products a million percent and wish I was still doing what I was doing back in the day. It was such an exciting time for me especially when new releases came out and I'd be the first one in the country to get anything. 20 fucking years ago Holy Shit! Congrats on the cab Kyle they kick total ass 1,000,000%

I mean, 31.4k subscribers, you have almost a quarter that many views in just the first day (views tend to accelerate during the first week, so you'll probably have at least 1:1 ratio of subs to views within 4 days (which takes most channels your size about a week), so don't get all anxious or anything, but you're probably going to blow up even more than this. Of course, that's a good thing, overall, even though it can be a little bit nerve-wracking like any major thing that happens.
I vaguely remember the trajectory of Glenn Fricker, I was one of the first couple thousand and he always recognized all the names of the regular commenters. Hell, if I'm in chat when he streams live, he says something to the effect of "Well Adam, long time no see, he didn't get locked up again did you?" (yes, this happened at one point). So, you know, even as you get big, there's still a little bit of that personal thing going on, you'll remember people like Andrew Becker, who appears to have been watching faithfully and commenting since the start. YES: I would like to hear some more microphone stuff, including mic'ing cabs from just a few feet away instead of just close mic'ing. To me, it sounds more like what I hear from the guitar amp in the room when I do this. Try putting the mic where your head/ears would normally be.
YES: I would like to see your technique for breaking in speakers.
QUESTION: Do you think the Special Edition has the ability to duplicate your favourite Fireball sounds, with extra modes? Or is the Fireball's tone unique?

I was watching one of these on ebay in red bronco tolex. Someone just grabbed. Was hoping this video wouldn't bring people looking for them but I guess it did. I have and love my engl pro 412. Was hoping to get the xxl for a full stack but new prices on things have gone too far. Bout to start building my own gear if things down come back down some.
Which cab do you prefer? I play mostly death metal. The enhanced lows on the non oversized may work better for ne but still need to try the xxl.

A lot of people seem to think that the XXL would sound the same as a Mesa OS, but even if you had the same kind of speakers in both cabs the XXL would still sound very different. When you also factor in that ENGL and Mesa has their own differently voiced V30's, you have two very different sounding cabs.
A lot of people? That sounds completely brain dead to me. How can two cabs with completely different construction sound the same? Gotta be literally sub 80 iq for that.
The speakers are not "their own voiced v30's" the difference is. Mesa uses CELESTION's British made V30's, (as in NOT MESA voiced) and ENGL use Chinese made V30's. Both are made by Celestion and VOICED by Celestion.
@@colelewis9940 I'm serious. Some people actually believe that the XXL is "just ENGL's copy of the Mesa OS". There are also people who believe that all of Celestion's different speaker models sound pretty much the same. I guess they have to be deaf or something.
Btw, at least Mesa, Marshall and some other amp builders have their own voiced V30's that you can't buy yourself from Celestion. I thought ENGL also had their own, but I can't find any info about it other than rumours. The different OEM V30's have their own model codes and everything. The Mesa V30 model codes are T4335 (vintage/older), T4335B (modern), T4139 and T4416. All of the OEM ones have changes that make them unique, probably to fit the amps they are intended for better.
Here's a list with the different confirmed models of V30's:
T3896 (8 ohm) & T3897 (16 ohm) - Marshall OEM
T3903 (8 ohm) & T3904 (16 ohm) - Celestion
T3987 (16 ohm) - Marshall OEM
T4139 (8 ohm) - Mesa OEM
T4297 (16 ohm) - Rumored to be OEM for H&K, possibly ENGL
T4335 (8 ohm) - Mesa OEM
T4416 (16 ohm) - Mesa OEM
T5225 (16 ohm) & T5273 (8 ohm) - Hughes & Kettner OEM
T5401 (8 ohm) - Bad Cat OEM
All of them have slightly different specs and tone. There are certainly more of them as well, but Celestion doesn't want to officially confirm some of the OEM models they make. also even here in germany, this cab has a street price of 1100€ new. usually Engl, Diezel and Hughes&Kettner are cheaper here than abroad, while brands like Fender, Gibson, Mesa, Friedman, Soldano and the likes are more expensive here than in the states.
I was drawn to your channel and I've been following at least for about a year because you play close to what I play which is 3 chord (on a good day) skate and pop punk with no leads whatsoever. There is almost no one who comes close to what I like as far as gear demos go and pedal demos as well. That's why I think you have a following, also you are pretty funny
