Bédard wurde in Québec City (Canada) geboren, studierte am Conservatoire de Musique de Québec sowie in Paris, Montréal und Amsterdam. Nach einer mehrjährigen Organisten- und Lehrtätigkeit in Québec wirkte Bédard von 2002 bis September 2021 als Organist an der Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver (Canada) und als Orgel-Professor an der dortigen University of British Columbia. Seine zahlreichen Orgelkompositionen sind immer tonal, melodisch und harmonisch oft der französischen Spätromantik verbunden, und sie erreichen damit ein großes Publikum.
Bédard komponierte seine siebensätzige „Suite du troisième ton“, eine Hommage an die Werke der französischen Barockmeister, im Jahre 2022 und widmete sie Marc D’Anjou, dem Titularorganisten der Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame in Québec, Kanada.

Bédard, organist and composer at the forefront of contemporary Canadian church music, studied at Québec Conservatory and with André Isoir (Paris) and Gustav Leonhardt (Amsterdam) and served as organist at different churches in Québec. From 2002 to September 2021, he was Principal Organist at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver (Canada) and Professor for organ at the local University of British Columbia. His compositions, essentially tonal and melodic, are characterized by a concern for formal clarity and immediate communication with as vast a public as possible.
Bédard composed his seven-movement “Suite du troisième ton,” a homage to the works of the French Baroque masters, in 2022 and dedicated it to Marc D’Anjou, titular organist of the Basilique-Cathédrale Notre-Dame in Quebec, Canada.
