What do you guys think of the Dune 4 rumours? Apologies for being away for nearly 2 weeks. I've had a lot happening in my personal life so it's been hard to make content. Anyway, I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year!
If they stay true to the books, children and god emperor would be amazing, the problem these days is they always seem to change great stories to pander to "modern audiences" and they end up pissing off 99% of the OG fanbase
@@KPF_ But Dune books are considered inadaptable, it means if they are adapted, fans of the original books will be pissed off, you cant recreate the book into a movie and keeping all the ideas from the book, you have to adapt it, transform it so its interesting to watch as a movie, if you want the original thing just read the book
There is no evidence the TV show is remotely profitable. My view is if there were to make any of the Schools books, perhaps The Mentat would have been a better choice. Personally, while I have read about Season 2, I doubt we will see Season 2 of Dune Prophecy in 2025.
Give advice on how to omit entire plot lines, factions and characters? Give advice on how to make certain characters more important than they should be at the expense of having less screen time for characters that actually need some development. I wanted more Piter and Emperor Shaddam, woke Chani was annoying, and having Alia & Leto II The Elder be absent from the finale was a huge problem. Having Paul be the one to kill the Baron was a huge problem. Changes like these make me worry about Dune Messiah and how lore accurate it will actually be. He should be kept far away from anything after Dune Messiah, we don’t need distilled versions of Children or God Emperor, those must be as accurate to the novels as possible.
I like this only because it would get us one step closer to seeing a giant worm repeatedly philosophizing with and then killing a Jason Mamoa clone on the big screen. Imagine. Also, I want Alex Garland to direct
I'm just happy to see things potentially lining up for a "Children" film - which really does mark the end of Paul's story arc. That said, I'm a bit torn by the idea of someone other than Villeneuve finishing up Paul's story arc: I'd like to see Villeneuve returning to doing films where I DON'T know what's supposed to be going on, but I also worry about an abrupt change of direction in the adaptation of the "Paul trilogy" of Frank Herbert's Dune books...
Personally I don’t think Eggers would be good. He does great with period flicks that involve a ton of research into the set pieces/clothing/dialogue of the era. That’s his lane and I’d think him sticking to it makes his films all the more better.
Given the current rise of AI, they should make a series based on the Butlerian Jihad, it should be epic, and resonate perfectly with our times. Also the book trilogy I think are the best of the expanded Dune, besides the original books
I think they would have to be extra specially careful of making a God Emperor of Dune movie. Getting the soul of that book into movie format without heavily compromising it would be incredibly difficult.
I *_personally_* nominate Guillermo Del Toro to be the one to direct _Children of Dune_ and then *_God Emperor of Dune._* I feel like whoever is willing to take up the cusp of adapting the rest of the saga after Messiah is going to need to be *willing* to go all in on the inherent *WIERDNESS* of the Dune saga and I feel like Del Toro is the director to do it. Beyond that I couldn't say at this point in regards to Heretics and Chapterhouse...
Not likely since GdT has development deals with both Fox Searchlight and Netflix still in place. His plate, is more than full on the writing and production fronts alone much less the directing one.
As always, it is not that Villeneuve does not want to do more Dune, it's that he has a lot of non-Dune films he wants to make but hasn't been able to for the past SEVEN years. Plus he assumes the studio wouldn't sit on the IP and wait... the conclusion is the same but think the distinction matters IMO ;D
I’d be very interested to see what someone like Gaspar Noé would do with it. Failing that David Cronenberg, Darren Aronofsky or perhaps even Terrence Malick. But for keeping with the tone and feel of Villeneuve’s films Christopher Nolan would be the obvious choice.
This is how you do it below, 5 movies, 4 TV series (3 seasons ea.) , 1 Anime Limited Series: Dune Uprising 3X Series (Pre-Empire Tech, Butlerian Jihad, Serena Butler, Erasmus, Young Vorian Atreides, Xavier Harkonnen) Dune Prophecy 3X Series (Dark Ages, Raquella, Sisterhood, Harkonnen Sisters, Older Vorian Atreides) Dune Legends 3X Series (Dune Prequel, Young Duncan Idaho, Young Duke Leto, Court Intrigue, Young Jessica's Introduction, Paul's Birth & Early Years) Dune Part 1 Dune Part 2 Dune 2 Messiah Dune 3 Children Of Dune Dune 4 God Emperor Dune Heretics 3X Series (The Scattering, Old Man Goula Duncan Idaho, Erasmus Return, Honored Matres, Chapter House) Dune Ascendance (Anime Limited Series - Completing Story) You can show the rise of the spacing guild from them starting out as humans in glass water tanks in "Uprising" with air masks to weird, genetically spice twisted human-fish looking things in Dune Prophecy with no masks and then by Dune Legends show them as full-on alien looking creatures in liquid orange spice tanks by the events of Dune. Other cool things you can do is show the origin and evolution of Raquella, the mentats, etc etc and the de-evolution of tech from series to movies.
Well DVN has done well so far -- even with significant shifts away from the source -- most notably Chani's arc/ending. Much depends on how DVN fixes this arc and moves back to Dune Messiah {the book} AND how he solves the 12 year GAP in this timeline. This leads to "Before her death, Chani gives birth to twins who, like Paul, have full access to both their male and female ancestral memories." -- will this happen in DVN's take or not. OR will DVN's Messiah simply move on from Dune and act as a bridge between DVN's Dune and Dune Messiah the book. Also, given that at the end of Part 2 WAR with the other houses is immediate there is potential for a film to cover the Holy War and pre-qual to Messiah. OR jump 12 years like the book and age all involved.
Tbh, i Think they just need to drop dune: Prophecy, it means they're going down the extended Dune universe which is so bad, and they should end it with 7 movies adapting up to God Emperor, it gives a good enough ambiguous ending, if they adapted Heretics and Chapterhouse, they wouldn't end it on a cliffhanger and probably do Hunters and Sandworms, with all the tv shows setting it up, and Dune will end up like Modern Starwars when it doesn't have to be. Also, Jason Momoa isn't immortal, he would be an old man by Sandworms of Dune
Great Cortex, Happy New Year A wonderful video that brings good insights and possibilities This is a work that must be adapted carefully, in which the person must be able to balance the macro and micro, and by this I mean the subtleties of intimacy and being able to be epic at the same time, Here's my list of dreams. - GUILLERMO DEL TORO (Totoro is a dream for me) - FEDE ALVAREZ, WES BALL, CARY JOJI FUKUNAGA, MATT REEVES(if he wasn't busy with Batman) , ALEX GARLAND (If he hadn't retired), RIAN JOHNSON, GARETH EDWARDS, DAVID LOWERY, J.A. BAYONA, ALFONSO CUARÓN, ANG LEE, CHLOE ZHAO
If people talk about it and show excitement for it, then the studio is more likely to acknowledge that and turn it into a reality. You don't think this rumour came out intentionally?? Like why else would it be leaked? They're smarter than that. Keep spreading online word-of-mouth, it's gonna happen.
I would pay money just to watch a movie focussed solely on God Emperor sandworm-human hybrid Leto II chatting shit about the essence of life for 2 hours. Let's gooooooo make it happennnnnn
I've had a lot going on in my personal life recently. I was planning to do a breakdown and review of Nosferatu. I will still try when I can, but it is hard at the minute.

Why wouldn't they wanna make more dune movies/series now that it's profitable. I just hope they don't ruin it like other franchises.
If they stay true to the books, children and god emperor would be amazing, the problem these days is they always seem to change great stories to pander to "modern audiences" and they end up pissing off 99% of the OG fanbase
Don’t want to create Dune-Fatigue.
Streaming isn’t really profitable.
Don’t want to ruin it like Disney did for Star Wars with garbage writing.

As long as they get some as talented as Denis

denis is so generous. im sure if another director asked him for advice hed give it
Exactly, he can just help the new director
@@Dhieen I think this is very likely. He's unironically the GOAT.

Robert Eggers would be epic. Taylor joy already has experience working with him, with the movie Vvitch
Personally I don’t think Eggers would be good. He does great with period flicks that involve a ton of research into the set pieces/clothing/dialogue of the era. That’s his lane and I’d think him sticking to it makes his films all the more better.
Why him? he has nothing to do with dune, he does dark horrific movies, how is children of dune dark and horrific?
@ it’s not that deep, just a thought my guy.
Extremely interesting comments. What a treat so far with the films..special artistry
Given the current rise of AI, they should make a series based on the Butlerian Jihad, it should be epic, and resonate perfectly with our times. Also the book trilogy I think are the best of the expanded Dune, besides the original books
Alfonso Cuarón would be an excellent choice!
Worth considering that a lot of the cast would probably only sign on to CoD if Villeneuve was directing, which he has made very clear he won't be.
Not saying this because of the recent nosferatu release but robert eggers would make one hell of a dune movie.
I think they would have to be extra specially careful of making a God Emperor of Dune movie. Getting the soul of that book into movie format without heavily compromising it would be incredibly difficult.
He who controls Brian Herbert controls the universe.

Robert Eggers, please.
I just don't see it working. And besides, there would be nothing to look at on the screen since the movie would be so visually dark lmaoooo.
Denni didn't do Alia in Dune part two for obvious reasons. Children of Dune is nothing but that.
My pick would be Danny Boyle with Alex Garland on script duty. They bring out the best in one another especially in genre films.
This my one of my fav books of the Dune universe. Really looking forward to seeing it turned into a big theatrical movie 🐛 🏄🏼♂️
I'm not worry at all about new tv shows of Dune because have many books to adapt
Children of Dune I & II directed by Guillermo del Toro
I like that idea! It would be soooo weird in the best way!
Not likely since GdT has development deals with both Fox Searchlight and Netflix still in place. His plate, is more than full on the writing and production fronts alone much less the directing one.

Tony Gilroy (director of another Andor (2022-2025)) should be the director of a Dune TV Series: S1: CoD, S2: GEoD, S3: HoD, S4: CD
I really can’t get into prophecy. I’ve tried, but i just don’t find the characters or performances engaging at all.

Cuaron would be an interesting choice. I dont mind having a new directod after Messiah.
I hope they keep Anya Taylor-Joy for Children of Dune.

Chloe Zhao will direct Children of Dune. Mark my words!

I hope we wont have more dune prophecy like stuff because this was so boring compared to the movies
Maybe the best choice for directing Children of Dune could be David Lynch, imagine this epic come back and nailing it 😂
Dune tv show SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! It's not dune
David Lynch’s Children of Dune, with Kyle Maclachlan as the blind prophet.
Sadly David Lynch has end stage emphysema and is retired from directing.
