2000 is actually the last year of the twentieth century!

Well, when we decide whether to do something or not, our brain is asking where's the value? History offers so much of value including countless examples of the human experience, truth, reasoning, forecasting the future, critical thinking skills, learning about the world and why it is the way it is, culture, differing perspectives, context, law, HUMANITY, and on and on and on.
And yet... many young people aren't interested. Why? Because they know there's no money in it and their understanding of it won't make them famous or get them attention... therefore, it doesn't have VALUE to them (disclaimer: I know not all young people think like this but you get the point)
Value looks different to a lot of people, particularly when you cross generational thresholds. It's why there can be so much frustration between age groups. Why aren't you living like this, you should be doing that, etc. But if a person's values aren't your own, good luck getting through to them. More than likely no matter how much sense you make, they will discard you as 'different' and dismiss your reasoning.
