Eric Church imo is not Nashville at all. He is the only singer these days that there's no doubt he really gives a damn. I am not a youngster myself and could sing every Waylon and Willie song and I believe Eric Church is truly talented. Just my opinion. He loves the music and puts everything into it just like artists did in the past. Plus I doubt you'd hear many of the singers you call Nashville singing Robert Earl Keen or John Prine.
