- Well, it only took me 52 reviews of 12yr Scottish single malts to reach the pinnacle. Only joking! It's Macallan 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on this review. I knew a Macallan review would always bring interest but I've really enjoyed reading your views. Apologies for not replying to everyone but, this (one comment) is easier.
Thank you all my friends. Take care and continue enjoying whisky as you see fit.
Love your honesty, thats all we need. Your right there are so many great alternatives why waste your moiety on average whisky. I have made a note that if I ever make it to your shop, don't mention Macallan!
@@euanmacara1812 cheers Euan. Appreciated on all counts 🙏😉😂
Fantastic review , honest as ever
Your right ..Of course
It’s not crap , but it’s bettered by most at half the price , it’s a fashion/ statement brand
Great stuff , keep em coming 👍🥃
Your review is spot on. People that drink this probably also drink Johnnie Walker Blue Label
People with money Toby 😉. Cheers buddy.
@@WhiskeyNovice and without ‘knowledge’
There are two 12 years i love to try, the Edradour 12 and the Glenturret 12. I have the Glenturret 12, but stil closed. For now, i think my favorite 12 years are deanston 12 and Glenallachie 12.
The 12 year series finally reaches Macallan ... and you did not disappoint, Jim. Cheers!
Thanks for reviewing this Macallan, Jim.
FInally a MAcallan and now that we've had this one, let's move on.
Have had it once, and is ok-ish, but that's it.
Slàinte mhath
@@peathead4450 moving on it is Frank.
Slàinte my friend.
Hi Jim. Currently in Scotland and sat down to an amazing Whiskey. Girvan , 33 year old single grain, bourbon barrel 44.9% . An amazing whiskey . It might be better than a 12 y Redbreast. MIGHT BE
@@therelaxingwoodshop David my friend...those older grains are class. And so keenly priced. Enjoy sir.
Excellent video Jim, you had me chuckling with the try these part. The only macallan I’ve had was the gold, utterly forgettable. Slàinte Jim 🥃
It is 58 £ in Sweden and for that price it is good😋
That is a good price. Just under €100 here in Belgium.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I love drinking Macallan because it's simply the best whisky in the world. It's ultra smooth and tasty and the price reflects its high quality. Just like a Ferrari or a Hermes Birkin. You get what you pay for.
Great review Jim and loved your open and honest review. People who say I only drink Macallan know nothing about whisky and are only trying to impress. Which it doesn't to the whisky enthusiasts.
I've enjoyed this way too much, I like angry Jim 😃Do Dalmore next 😂
Stay away from by beautiful Dalmore!
@@JeffWhiskysome ppl like bottle design but its individual 😎😅
Thank you very much for the review and the spot on conclusion!
Oh.... and thank you for the best IYLTTTT so far. This one will be hard to beat 😂 (but I sure hope, you'll try some day)
I haven't tried the 12 yo, but at a whisky festival back in March this year, I tasted the 18 yo sherry oak. Not bad whisky - but not exactly great either by any means. "Pleasant" is probably the most apt term, I have in my vocabulary. "Smooth"? I'll go with that too, for sure.
I also tasted the Tomatin 18 yo at that same festival, and while I thought it was slightly better than the Macallan, I have to admit it wasn't by a wide margin. Well, right until I compared the prices of the two bottles. The price of the Macallan was 3 times the price of the Tomatin. No need to elaborate on how wide the margin actually turned out to be, I guess.
Cheers buddy 🥃Looking forward to the next review (and to you trying to beat that IYLTTTT 😉)
@@bennyfriis601 🙏 thank you buddy. I don't think I know enough people to beat that IYLTTTT 😂😂
Macallan will/should never have any ill effect on those of us who ACTUALLY care about whisky but...they're always good for a laugh 😉
I love this one Jim( review Not M12)😂 M....M....M....M.....hilarious. Glad you Calmed down 👍
P.S. I love alternatives too 😁🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
I only had macallan 12 one triple cask or smth like that. It was a gifted one. I think it's not anything special and pricing is nonsense. I agree with you. Thanks for the review ❤ btw people who stick with any whiskey should always look around, you can always find better whiskey than you had yesterday 😜
Thank you! Let's spread the word! 😄
Wad up Boss Jim ! . . .I have not bought a single MacAlbert since 2001 . . . still enjoying my auld stocks from the 1990's . . .
ahah nice ranty review, Jim...now, an annoying question for you, "Macallan 12 or Dalmore 12 ???" 🤣 Besides I hope you'll try some "good old" Macallans some day...I had the chance to do so, a while ago, and not so much a while ago too...but, for the most recent example, price wise, value was not there (...). Cheers & never stop to rant !
I bought a bottle and regard it as the Bentley of Scotch Whiskey! Wow!
Let the Macallan fans only drink Macallan, it leaves more good whisky for the rest of us!
Well, what can I say more than that I totally agree. Cheers
The finest sherry oak from Jerez!!! OMG! Wow, the next thing the marketing department will be telling us is this is the finest Scotch Whisky from Scotland!
So many better malts out there for the same price including the vastly superior Deanston 18 year old. I get your reaction to the way this M12 is marketed though Jim; it's just blatant profiteering - and I would suggest, somewhat disingenuous. Your review as always is delivered with integrity and passion......cheers and good health to you my friend 😃👍🥃.
Lol, "for people who call whisky Smooth", and then the rant. Probably the best moment I've shared on your channel. Cheers friend. May we never share a dram of this! Shoot. How did my video come over so low quality. Sorry about that. Still fun to be in the group. Thanks for asking!
Great review Jim!
If it an unpeated sherry matured 12 they are looking for Edradour 12, Glenturret 12, Bunnahabhain 12 are where I’d suggest.
"Still not quite over it." 😂
Many years ago, I bought a bottle of Macallan Gold. Opened it and thought WTF is all the noise out there about Macallan. I suppose that it was better in earlier years, but that was the only time that they got my $$$. Ptui.
Cheers Peter. Not for actual whisky enthusiasts right 😉
Thanks for the review! I never tried the sherry oak. For me the Macallan 12 double oak was a good place to be at the start of my whisky journey. It was around 2020 when I bought it on offer for about €60. I liked it then. Nowadays it is a bit too weak for me indeed. Almost watery. The bottle is still not empty. I keep it on the shelf for guests who are at the beginning of their journey. I do believe that a whisky like Macallan 12 can convince someone to discover the world of whiskies further. For me it did at least that trick. Btw a 46% version might be worth 80, not?
If in a shop, I will reach for Glenallachie or Glendronach earlier than this one…. But “we” are the chosen in the know… and not the average Joe…. Their old marketing still works. As they can ask these kind of prices….. they have done something correct….. all these recommendations I will take with both hands… maybe the `Glengoyne not so…. If it was on a higher strength maybe….. but its a lowland….. yes it is…. Whisky is made in the barrel, not in the factory… and their warehouses are down in the lowlands…. Coal ila is a highlander 😉maybe a nice topic for another time 🤫
First half of the bottle is nice, but at 40% ABV, the Macallan falls apart quite quickly after that. Have to down the bottle quite quickly after that point.
There are better whiskies out there for less money.
so you are saying you are a fan?
Remember the bentley lassie that became a meme last year or so? That's what i think of macallan. Interpret that however you like.
Is there an explanation video somewhere describing Macallan's fall from grace ?
Do ya recommend classic cut?
Even as a newbie, I felt it was too watery and that immediately has put me of, especially for the price and hype. When comparing to Glenallachie 12, has no chance. Even Glendronach 12 was a better deal. BTW the fancy sherry casks they mention are mass produced seasoned casks.
For goodness sakes, Jim! Tell us how you really feel, would ye! 🤣😂
I have two drams left in a bottle that I bought in 2017. I remember how disappointed I was at the time about how hot it was, at 40% and if you added water to it to tame it, the mouth feel and taste became really thin. The Glengoyne Teapot Dram at about 60%, didn't seem as hot as the Macallan. So, it came across to me as a whisky which hadn't received enough care in the production. It was and probably still is, extremely meh, in relation to the price charged. It's being sold as lifestyle product, now, for people with deep pockets, who aren't that interested in what they are actually drinking.
All the Macallan haters probably complain about the cost of fine-dining too. The complaints ultimately boil down to a "lack of value" - which quite frankly means they can't afford it.
More expensive = better! ...got it, thanks.
Speyburn 15 blows this away at a fraction of the price. Cheers!
Jim tell us what you really think!😉
Applause!
😂
So just about _any_ whisky other than McCallan 12 😂
Awesome I think Macallan is over priced, in US it’s over $100 . ITS OVERRATED!!!!
I won’t buy a Macallan OB…
Trying so hard NOT to like it. Almost Funny!
Im trying so hard Not to try it. Still Funny! 😅🥂🥂🥂🙋♂️
So salty
Broke people have beef with macallan lol its the best flavor 12 out there ive tried plenty of other and the flavor of this 12 its crazy good does it cost 95$ with taxes yes stop whining about the price go drink water if you can not afford it
