    If I missed anything that you think is important to know owning an older sport bike, please comment and let everyone know!

      Corrosion of parts. Internal and external. Microcracks in the frame. Heavier than modern bikes. Carburetors, so less fuel mileage and less throttle response and they need to be maintained.
      Straight up, if you can afford it, get a newer bike. If you can't, get a bike that is no more than 10 years old. Generally, stay away from anything from before 2010.

    I think older 90’s sport bikes look the best! FZR and ZX7’s + SRAD and Fireblade

      Nice! My ‘06 CBR was definitely old compared to my V4 Speciale. I would consider yours to be “ancient” 😉

    Love your insight dude. Keep up the great vids! Heads up to anyone buying old bikes: sometimes more mileage is better than less. It's better a bike is ridden, & all of the mechanical parts move, than sit.

      @TheDucatiPilot  5 лет назад +4

      Thanks Zaid! Also, great point on the miles tip. I think I forgot to mention that in the vid. Motorcycles are like helicopters...If you don't use them, they break! Cheers!

    You brought up a lot of smart points especially regarding insurance. I was over 40 years old & My 01 Monster 900 was 300 dollars a year for full coverage in NYC for the year.. when I went with a 13 848 EVO Geico wanted to change me over 130 $ a month! I ended up going with StateFarm for 56$ a month for the same coverage. Thanks for another great video

    • @TheDucatiPilot
      @TheDucatiPilot  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for your very informative comment! That's pretty crazy, the difference in insurance between a Monster and a 848! State Farm sounds like it has a pretty good deal with their insurance rates. I'll definitely have to get a quote from them. Cheers Charlie!

    I have a 93 Fireblade 900, I'm looking to rebuild the engine, repair the plastics, modernize the wiring, dash, and lights, add cruise control, and do a E85 conversion. It's pushing 124hp right now but after some work I think I can hit 150, displacement is perfect size for a subie turbo

    I'm about to trade in a cbr500 2015 for a GSXR 600 2005, was worried that I'm compromising reliability for well everything else. It's from a dealer and getting 12month warranty, I like in the UK and it's costing me £200 insurance for the year. What's everyones thoughts? Thanks

    I have a 91 CBR600 f2 I was wondering what are the pros of getting a 2008 or newer

    • @TheDucatiPilot
      @TheDucatiPilot  4 года назад

      We’ll definitely horsepower and torque are my first thoughts. The F2 is a great bike, but it can’t compete with 2008 and newer bikes when it comes to suspension. I recommend getting a 2008 or new and also jeeping the F2. Cheers!

    Tbh, besides the third-generation R6 (one of which I personally own) and the Ducati 916/748 (I also own a 748), which are the two most beautiful bikes in history, I think this generation of CBR is right up there in terms of all-time looks. You merely say it could "hang" with the new bikes in terms of looks. Uh, no... it's superior in terms of looks.
    I think it looks better than most of today's bikes. Today, they're too robotronic. They look really futuristic, which is cool, but they don't do it the right way - with beauty. Their lines are not nice and proportional and are too scattered and messy IMO. And, they've even become a bit chunky and boxy. For example, the third-generation R6 looks way more perfect than today's R6. Same for the mid-2000s CBR.
    Your CBR looks really proportional and well-designed. Perfectly sharp, perfectly sleek, nice and pronounced rear end that's level with the rest of the bike (unlike the next-generation CBR, which had a fat and bubbly front end with a skinny rear end; it looked weird), and that sexy under-tail exhaust (which they also stupidly got rid of, going to that clunky, ugly cooking pan exhaust hanging out the side the next generation). Today's Panigale V4 by Ducati, which everyone is raving about as being the Rita Hayworth of bikes, I will venture out to say, is even a little off the mark. It's almost too curvy and round, its tank is too big and its ass end is too skinny. The older Panigale 959 was nice with the red-white-green. Today's new CBRs look pretty ok. Way better than the previous generation 1000s.
    Yeah, your bike is hot. Keep it forever.

    An 06 is old for a Honda. Parts availability is an issue with any Honda older than 10 years old. Ik the pain though lol I just got a 95 Ninja ZX600c with only 13k miles on it. It’s far from cosmetically perfect being 28 years old but rips like a new bike still. Parts are harder to find and usually dated so I’m slowly upgraded to more modern tech off the new bikes

    5yrs makes a big difference. My 01 zx9r was still carburetted., something you didn't mention about your 06 ride. So servicing might have been something you didn't cover. Also 80s bikes have different tyre sizes.

      Yep. It was a hella fun bike though. The turbo was a little underpowered straight out of the factory, but you could weld a washer on the exhaust to make the opening smaller and boost the turbo almost 100%
