As a labor and delivery nurse, I have to tell you how wonderfully accommodating that hospital was!! I work at a super busy hospital where the rooms are often full, we unfortunately have triage deliveries often. Because triage laborers don’t have a designated nurse in triage (we all share the load), we can’t allow our patients to get epidurals there for safety reasons. I’m so grateful they were able to get that on board for you! I’m not confident that would have been the case for you at other locations.
Also, we see big splashes of fluid all the time!! You can’t help it! You’d be amazed how often it happens.
Big babies often lead to big blood loss, as does quick deliveries due to your uterus growing so large and rapidly delivering the baby and placenta (it can tear part of the uterine wall that attaches to the placenta so more blood).
At your six week appointment, you should ask how much blood you lost at delivery (your quantitative blood loss) to see what stage of hemorrhage it was! Modern medicine is so wonderful! You got either methergene or hemabate (the shot in your leg) to stop the bleeding, so you lost more than you probably realize. Had you not been in the hospital, that could have been life threading. Those blue lips were likely from blood loss!! Hallelujah for modern medicine and great timing :)
I’m so grateful you had such a wonderful experience despite the chaos. So many of these details could have made this story very traumatic witheven slightly different circumstances. Congratulations on your miracle :)

Thanks for sharing your birth story😊
I gave birth to my second daughter early October. I was 5 cm waiting for my epidural, I had 4 super strong contractions and I had the urge to push! I went from 5-10cm in less than 10 mins and gave birth naturally! No time for the epidural lol It was so crazy but thankful it happened the way it did.
So happy for you guys! God bless!

Co grata!!! I had a similar experience. My DD was 11/2 as well, we also named our son Benjamin. lol
I had a home birth though. I had pre labor for a day and a half. Allll back labor because he was posterior. That is NO JOKE! lol I did the miles circuit and he turned and i went into active labor. I called my midwife, he was born 2 hours later! The contractions after he turned, without back labor, was painless compared to back labor. 😂
After delivery I also hemorrhaged. I almost passed out,I was pale white even my lips, I started to lose my hearing and i felt myself drifting away. They gave me pitocin but it didn’t work. The midwife had to scoop out stuff from inside me with her hands. Then she gave me a pill that really worked for me to contract but it also gives you a fever. They gave me an IV. Thank God that you were ok and that I was ok. It’s SO funny how much we had in common.

I hemorrhaged after my 4th baby. It was horrible. Your shaking and teeth chattering was side effects from the medicine they gave you to stop you from hemorrhaging more. They also gave me pitocin to get my uterus to contract back. Not something that’s talked about enough. So glad you all are okay and well! Congrats again!

Second babies do tend to be born faster. My bison who is now 22, I was induced, in labor for 13 hours and pushed for two hours. Side note, Ty will appreciate this. I had my son on March 17, during March Madness and during a KU basketball game. We had already decided on naming him Adonus, but thought it was fitting since there was a previous KU basketball player, Adonis Jordan. My daughter who I had 10 years after my son. I was also induced with her but was in labor for only 4 hours and pushed 3 times and she was out.

My baby girl was born a couple of days later, and we had a similar experience. Went to L&D around 8:30pm Friday night, 3cm dilated, walked the halls for about an hour (9:30-10:30ish) dilated to a 4, got admitted and finally moved to a room around 11:30, checked again at 12:30 and I was 5.5 cm, the pain became unbearable and I finally caved and asked for the epidural around 1:30am. Got the epidural at 1:57 and felt a ton of pressure when I was sitting up waiting for them to give it to me so the nurse checked me again after I got the epi and said I was fully dilated plus 1 and that they needed to call the on call doctor asap because my doctor wasn’t going to make it in time. So I went from 5.5cm to fully dilated in an hour and a half. Baby was coming and they kept telling me not to push. Finally the on call doc comes rushing in, they slap gloves on her and she turns and catches my baby after 1 push. The epidural didn’t even have time to work. Oh and my water broke as she came out. Lol. 2:11am on Saturday Nov 5th. ❤

I'm German it means sorting or priorising medical help when there are not enough resources. Eg you have three patients who need ventilation, but there is only one machine so you have to decide who gets the life saving treatment (a situation that should not occur in our modern medical system ).
