I played there with my band in the late 80's. (Angel Fyre) That place was crazy. One night we were playing and Jerry the bartender/owner jumped over the bar and broke up a fight using all his mad karate skills. Things were flying through the air.....we kept playing.....lol. He always had pictures and trophies of himself behind the bar in his karate gear. We always joked that they were fake, until the night he wiped everyone out. To me, it was the CBGBs of Bethlehem. Once the gig was done, we rolled back to brothers on third street. We watched the sun come up on many weekends.
4G's was an awesome venue. Owner Jerry Green was a crazy mf'er, and his wife was a beautiful woman, who tended a mean bar. Lots of great bands played in there, including the Gooney Birds and Crack Babies. I even saw Tom Constanten, a former member of the Grateful Dead, there in a solo show. Got to talk to him for about ten minutes, and got his autograph on an album I bought from him. One of many great nights at the 4G's.
