@@arvind_lenin see u can't call him simply the greatest bcoz that time quality of bowling and int'l competition was very less..
Cricket is english game that time other countries and even England too don't knew how to play cricket..
I admit that he was the best at that time but being best in 10 good players and being best nowadays in crores good players is very very difficult.....
I admit that if he was born in this era he might have even better career than that but Also believes that who knows he couldn't get selected in his school team... Who knows????
      So stop comparing generations....
Bcoz cricket is an involving game every new generation player will have. More skils than the older....
For ex:- today players have more shots and time than sachin but it don't make them better than sachin bcoz sachin have unbelievable better record than them.. Mean skills wise today generation players are even better than sachin bcoz cricket evolves but record wise the better or best is sachin, what does it means now, it means never ever try to compare two generation players bcoz skills are not records , skills are shots, ability to finish the game
See today player shot sweep, reverse sweep, reverse slap, paddle scoop that are shots which shows how much time these cricketer have to play a shot and u see in 2050 these shots will be no shots bcoz these will be played on almost every over, yes they have the finishing ability to bcoz of t20.... But former generation players are also goats...
So, we can't compare different generation players.

Bradman shaped himself up, mostly on his own, without super-coaches, profilers and analysts to design a training program for him.. Corrections on technique was mostly from within, (thats what one can gather from material available online). Modern day cricketers are privvy to enjoying professional coaching, service of physios, tools and data driven re-modelage of style, technique and much established a lineage to follow. 'copybook' styles emerged based on 'copy books' designed around the shot playing techniques introduced by a few like Sir Don Bradman! He was extraordinary par excellence! Let us not make the mistake of comparing players from two completely different eras!

Is there something going on the the sweaters? Do the various stripes indicate positions? Why would anyone wear knitted sweaters during a sports activity? Why no gloves for the fielders? The unis and equipment seem ridiculous, the bat is like a canoe paddle. Is this just tradition from this being a gentleman's lawn game? I'm learning to appreciate it and it is fun to watch and very interesting, just figuring out the rules lately but still wonder about the silly hats and baggy outifts.

He was clearly a bottom hand player ( clear on that front foot defence) and a naturally aggressive player who didn't do much defence ( his front foot defence was also meant to go in gaps to steal singles).
That to me seems the reason of his unmatched success as in those times cricket was not an aggressive sport.

It's fascinating to see the changes in the techniques of batting as modern day batting is evolving around T20 cricket. More fascinating is to see the batting average of a batsman who played in the era of test cricket. Specially with a technique of test cricket batting he played a game equivalent to T20 in that time.
