Άγιος Αχίλλειος, το όμορφο νισάκι της λίμνης Μικρής Πρέσπας - Agios Achillios the island Prespes

Ο Άγιος Αχίλλειος ή Χαΐλλι είναι ένα μικρό νησί το οποίο βρίσκεται στη λίμνη της Μικρής Πρέσπας. Το όνομά του έχει προκύψει από τον Άγιο Αχίλλιο, επίσκοπος Λαρίσης τον 4ο αιώνα.
Στο νησί υπήρχε ρωμαϊκός και βυζαντινός οικισμός, ο οποίος σύμφωνα με επιγραφές που ανακαλύφθηκαν ταυτίζεται με την αρχαία πόλη Λύκη. Στο νησάκι υπάρχουν αρκετές βυζαντινές εκκλησίες, από τις οποίες σημαντικότερη είναι η τρίκλιτη Βασιλική του Αγίου Αχιλλείου, η οποία χρονολογείται από τα τέλη 10ου αιώνα μ.Χ., κτισμένη από τον τσάρο Σαμουήλ της Βουλγαρίας και στην οποία φυλάσσονταν τα λείψανα του Αγίου Αχιλλείου, όταν τα μετέφεραν εκεί τα βουλγαρικά στρατεύματα από τη Λάρισα.
Άλλες εκκλησίες στο νησί είναι η βασιλική των Δώδεκα Αποστόλων (11ος αιώνας), ο ναός του Αγίου Δημητρίου (14ος αιώνας), η βασιλική του Αγίου Γεωργίου (15ος αιώνας) και η εκκλησία της Παναγίας Πορφύρας. Το νησί έχει γύρω στους 15 με 20 κατοίκους.

Agios Achilios or Hailli is a small island located in the lake of Little Prespa. Its name derives from Agios Achilios, bishop of Larissa in the 4th century.
There was a Roman and Byzantine settlement on the island, which according to inscriptions discovered is identified with the ancient city of Lyki. There are several Byzantine churches on the island, the most important of which is the three-aisled Basilica of St. Achilles, which dates from the late 10th century AD, built by Tsar Samuel of Bulgaria and in which the relics of St. Achilles were kept. they were transported there by the Bulgarian troops from Larissa.
Other churches on the island are the basilica of the Twelve Apostles (11th century), the church of Agios Dimitrios (14th century), the basilica of Agios Georgios (15th century), and the church of Panagia Porphyra. The island has about 15 to 20 inhabitants.
