The old edition was the original version of the novel that was published back in 2013. The new version is going to be the canon version and the other books in the series including the novellas have been revised too. If you're looking to start the series, Samantha Shannon has said to read the Author's preferred text versions as the original versions of the series will soon no longer be available to purchase.
